I would however like to explain my theory on this. As you know women used to be regarded as a mans property. During that time a women was supposed to remain a virgin until she was married. (Would you really want to buy a new toy that has already been used?)
I think the reason society pushes for women to remain virgins until marriage is a remnant of this ideal... This is also why in high school males who have had sex are admired while females who have had sex are regarded as sluts. | |

Andrus Huxley said that celibacy was the most unnatural of perversions. I would agree with him. Voluntary celibacy (vocel) is, to use some religious rhetoric used against gays, is against nature. I see no point to it and it proves nothing. I wish I was not celibate but I'm an incel. A male reaches his sexual peak at 19. It is folly to voluntarily be celibate and miss out on the best part of your sexual life when you are young.I would loved to have lost my virginity when younger but I was unable through social phobia. I still haven't at 51. | |

I am just saying that from my perspective it looks crazy for someone who can choose to have sex. I have been unable to choose not to be virgin but I would love not to be a virgin.I would love not to have wasted my young years with celibacy. I would love not to be so anxious with women but I do not have that gift.

Shrinks have devoted their careers to dealing with messed up marriages that are sexually dysunctional from decades of contrived thoughts of sex being dirty,wrong and immoral. The mind does not just snap out of preconceived notions after a wedding night, it is not possible.

Mitt Romney was a virgin when he married. I really admire guys who are virgins. I would also love to marry a (cute) virgin guy, but that's very doubtful considering how many people actually wait. Well, I did know of a virgin guy (from a few years ago) that liked me, but he was butt ugly. (There was no attraction whatsoever).
My best friend in Chicago is 34yo and waiting. He says he has self control and has his alternatives in pleasing a woman. I also have a 28yo friend who is totally hot that's waiting as well. He has trouble keeping a woman, because he said most women are wanting to sleep with him. So, guy virgins are out there. It's like searching for a needle in a haystack.

But yeah, still virgin. By choice, too. Part religion, part second-hand experience, part recognition of the fact that sex makes things complicated.

So now, I'm 19, in a fraternity, and a comfortable virgin... it's almost like a game of spot which one doesn't belong.
So despite the fact that it's like a game of Where's Waldo (Or What's the Virgin's Venue?) we are there... somewhere...

I don't think any virgin, including myself is deluded into thinking that sex is some horrible, nasty thing. I think the general consensus is that sex is a beautiful thing, yet for those of us abstaining, it's a beautiful thing that is best saved until there is some real meaning behind sharing one's self in that way. We aren't hiding from reality, and we sure as hell aren't hiding from the human spirit. It's human nature to wish to attribute meaning and symbolism into events, pictures, coincidence, etc. Thus, many of us wish to attribute some great meaning into that first time.
Goddammit, I hate this stigma that virgins aren't normal. Justanotherpseudo, virgins are just as normal as anyone else. We have different views on things, but I don't think a republican is any less normal than a democrat or vice versa, so how is a virgin any less normal than a non-virgin? Acting like virginity is some sort of malady that needs to be cured as soon as puberty is reached just doesn't make sense to me. Heck, I'm proud of being a virgin. I know too many people who regret losing their virginity at too young of an age (around 18 or 19 for most, youngest I heard was 13. That guy REALLY regretted it). Each of those people who regretted it didn't seem to do so until they god older. Well here's to me looking out to the future and wishing to live a life of no regrets.

It is a natural function as is taking a "dump" - it seems some hold the two on about the same level.

i agree with your post and as far as i'm concerned, i'm willing to wait for the right woman right now. except, the concept of waiting until after marriage is pretty far fetched. but thats JMO. i don't like the idea of sex just for sex. it has to have a real meaning as well. and you pointed that out pretty good on your last post.
anyway, i wasn't refering to you at all pirate (you are only 19 after all, take your time, got your whole life ahead of ya!  ), but remember that there are things that we don't do that we also regret as well.
like women that could have been great relationship, but i chickened out. afraid of love. afraid of commitment. that sort of thing. i could have had great fun... | |

I'm not afraid to admit I'm a virgin and plan to stay that way until marriage, but a lot of the time the conversation doesn't come up. I think that it's awesome that you're waiting until marriage to have sex again. I'm tired of those people who are Christians (or claim to be atleast) and make the mistake and have sex and then states that they already had sex, so they've already sinned and then decide they might as well continue doing it. That's the only other type of person I'd want to marry/be with/etc. I would prefer a virgin, but those are rare. So, someone who decided to go and become abstinant is just as good, because that mentality is there and for me, that's all that matters. | |
