Yeah, Dylan's music sticks with me like nothing else. It always seems like what he says is interesting, even when it's about nothing.

I love Dylan, too. Lay, Lady, Lay is one of my all-time favorite songs.

I wish he would play acoustic in his live performances.
Sometimes he is halfway through before you can recognize the song with his current band. I guess he needs it to be different.

His songs are timeless, they do not alter as the alteration finds. He was well nice looking as well.

I saw him in the early Eighties, at the Montreal Forum, and you could have said the same then.

I have been a fan of Bob's since I was very young. He ...... and Joan Baez!
I love his raspy voice ...... Even Joan mimicks it in her versions of his songs!
I recently got re-acquainted with my love of folk music.

I would love for the both of them to come to the Orillia Mariposa Folk Festival!
Let me know if that ever happens!
I agree, that he probably sounds better on his albums!
That happens as the realities of age sets in!

My most favourite Dylan song is "Forever Young"
And what makes it even more special, is that it was sung to us at my high school graduation mannnnnny years ago!
I now use it for the grads that I teach!
I am playing it as I write this!

The lyrics:

Forever Young
------------------

May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

What a great way to proceed through life's twists and turns!

Enjoy All! And Stay Forever Young!
... with your refreshing views on life!

I don't think Dylan plays guitar too much these days because of arthiritis in his fingers. Such is life.

I've seen him many times live and to be honest his live performances are better than his studio recordings, though he does try to get a fresh feel to them all the same. What attracts me though is that each live performance and variation of song is new and original and doesn't fall into the trap of just repeating the recorded track as if you might as well be listening to a tape, as do most performers. Some music on his CDs you just wonder why on earth did you stick that track on, filling up space Bob?

The last time I saw Dylan wasa couple of years ago at an outside venue in the Mountains of Utah. My then 16 year old niece came along to see what all the fuss was about. By the end of the show she was hooked. She wanted to know all about this guy who wrote all those songs that everyone else was singing.
He still plays guitar. He had about 12 different guitars on stage. His band has to be some of the finest musicien around. they were very tight. it was a stand out performance.

I like Bob Dylan, but I must say that I was a bit disappointed in his performance when I saw him live last winter. He only played songs from his new album, which I had yet to listen to. I like his older stuff a lot better.

I am volunteering at the Mariposa Folk Festival in Orillia this weekend. I heard that Bob is playing at Casino Rama Saturday and Sunday evening..... and there is rumour that he may make a surprise guest appearance at Mariposa.

If he does, my guess is that it will be Sunday evening when Gordon Lightfoot is performing and when he finishes at Rama.

That would be great! It would be even greater if Bob had a guest appearance of Joan Baez..... and they both made a surprise guest appearance at Mariposa. I would be truly in heaven then!

One of my favorite Dylan cd's is "The Bootleg Series - Vols.1-3". This collection of demos and outtakes is amazing. It seems pretty obvious to me that very often Bob Dylan is the worst judge of his own material. And this is shown by the long list of great recordings on this CD that never got to see the light of day until the "Bootleg Series".
For example, "Infidels" was a pretty good album, but there are outtakes from the "Infidels" sessions that are just as good if not better than the ones Bob chose for the "Infidels" album. Most notably, "Blind Willie McTell" and "Foot Of Pride".

May the fates forgive me for what I am about to say, but, oh dear do I dare say it? Guns and Roses did a pretty fair cover of Knockin' On Heaven's Door. There, I said it, let the stoning begin
I prefer it to the original...I also prefer Manfred Mann's version of The Mighty Quinn to Dylan's own but I suppose that might be because they released theirs first so his seemed like the cover.

But anyway, Dylan's great (All Along the Watchtower, I'll Be Your baby Tonight, It Ain't Me Babe and The Time They Are A Changing are probably my favourites) - he was good as a Wilbury too.

i think its fine to say you like a cover more than an original dylan track. i love his music but i dont think anyones gonna go so far as to say the guy could sing, he blatantly couldnt. never stopped him being unique

Everyone has got to criticize someone. He gets more than his fair share though. Wish I were old enough to have have seen him in his prime. I think he would have been awesome back in the day. I love his old music more than any.

I love how Dylan touched so many people. Every day you could think of a certain Dylan song, or lyric that just makes so much sense to the situation. Of course one of the best songs to listen to when your in a slump or just feeling a little blue, maybe frustrated is: The times they are a'changin . .

I'd have to also say a very underrated song is Shelter from the storm, If you've never heard it, please do, its an amazing tune.

Every time I here one of his songs I take something new from it. A new meaning a new thought. This guy is truly a poetic genius. Its one thing to write a very interesting poem and its another to invent a melody for it. He has done it all many times. He continues to be a work in progress and is usually a step ahead of his audience. His voice has deteriorated over the years but I have to tell you the Unplugged DVD is one of my favorites. Have discovered much on utube recently also. I am sure I am behind the power curve with UTUBE but hey time is a precious thing and I never seem to have enough of it.

I really like Bob Dylan. His music really touches me. The way he changed from acoustic to electric guitars in the mid sixties, alienating a large proportion of his audience was a brave move. My favourite album of his is Highway 61 Revisted. For me it's just perfect!

Bob Dylan is amazing! One of my all time favorites from him is "It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding.)

It's very hard to pin down one album from him as his best, but I'll pick "Highway 61" because that's the one that launched Al Kooper & Mike Bloomfield. These guys were with him during that now-legendary Newport 65 show where Dylan went electric and thank God he DID that show like that because he changed the face of folk in one night forever!

--- Actually, Mike Bloomfield had already made a name for himself a year priorin a group called The Butterfield Blues band. Dylan has always had the knack of picking up the best 'session' men for his electric bands...this is just an example of the first couple artists of many!
