| What do we think of POF compared to other well known Australia sites Posted: 12/10/2006 3:33:43 PM | Here it is, months after this was originally posted, and I thought I'd resurrect it and see what other positives could be offered up. Not that I'm grovelling to admin or anything ....
I think all I need to say is that this is the only site I'm on now. I've had a lot of fun here, meet some great people, and for the most part there has been a WHOLE lot less BS than on the other couple of sites I was a member of for a while.
And there's no two ways about it: the forums are a HUGE drawcard here.

| What do we think of POF compared to other well known Australia sites Posted: 12/10/2006 5:06:29 PM | I have experienced quite a few chat sites and dating sites and so far I have found this site better than most for its (apparently) genuine people posting on the boards and fewer 'divas' both female and male - at least so far.
I like this format and the fact that it is free is a HUGE bonus.
More Adelaide people members would be nice, but hey, thats the same with everything and all sites - lol -thats just Adelaide

| What do we think of POF compared to other well known Australia sites Posted: 12/10/2006 5:56:05 PM | this is my first online dating experience and because its so good and meets my needs (other than finding some1), i dont feel any need to go and register elsewhere...

| What do we think of POF compared to other well known Australia sites Posted: 12/10/2006 11:10:45 PM | I think this site is great! I've been on fso and rsvp and I think they're good too (I met the guy I'm seeing at the moment through rsvp!!!) but this site has the best Instant Message feature and also the forums. And its free which is good too. Although the other two you can send a smile or a kiss for free and then when you get emailed, you can reply for free. But this site is more user friendly too I think. | |

| What do we think of POF compared to other well known Australia sites Posted: 12/10/2006 11:21:49 PM | I'm too tight to have a gold pass. I think I did get one once when I was pissed, but I forgot the name of the site, let alone my password!
However, I did pay $50 for a lap dance once and decided it would only be a tease, so I left before she started....;p

| What do we think of POF compared to other well known Australia sites Posted: 12/13/2006 3:51:01 PM | Apart from the fact that It's 100% FREE. I also like THIS about it. ie The fact that it has message board forums. I'm sure that it allows people to get further ideas of what they're like from their posts and opinions.
I've once tried another one called Confidental Connections. Well let's just say all the ladies are from the same country and any e-mails I got it stated at the top that this letter has been translated. (So go figure)

| If you don't like other sites, just move on. Posted: 12/27/2006 5:42:55 AM | All sites have their share of Divas that dominate threads / postings. Guess that is their choose how to spend their time. Again there can be a myriad of reasons.
pof is no different in many ways; except 1) it is just cheaper [and for me harder to navigate], 2) there are moderators to restrain narcistic characters, which is a good thing.
Like all chat sites many get lost in the convos of 'old timers'.

| What do we think of POF compared to other well known Australia sites Posted: 1/10/2007 3:12:33 AM | I think this is a great site
Mind you i cant compare it to others cos i havnt been to them.....smile
Only constructive feedback i could possibly make for this site is it doesnt allow general chit chat threads. sometimes its good to just let go and have a general chat....like our confessions thread....seems to have disappeared.....it was a general thread that did no one harm
i like that sort of thing its a great way to make friends
and thats way to hard to accomplish thru individual emails to individual people
just one observation ive made while being here
other than that....ITS GREAT
oh and im far from a DIVA....but im a great DIVER.......lol

| What do we think of POF compared to other well known Australia sites Posted: 1/10/2007 3:22:01 AM | I've only been on POF for a short while and really like it. I've already met some nice men and currently seeing one of them on a more regular basis.
A few years ago, when I advertised on RSVP, I met some great guys too, dated one on a fairly relaxed basis for a while, and have a few platonic friends from dates that didn't have the X factor but we still had good connections. So I can't knock it, except that it's a ripoff.
As an experiment I tried Adult Matchmaker (for a casual r/ship as opposed to "intimate encounters"). Heaps of sex-crazed fools, of course, but a few humans I e-chatted with. Met one guy and we went out for two years. But you have to be tolerant
One great thing about POF is that it's free, so it allows you to so much more freedom in your contacts. The other great thing is its forums.
POF = #1 | |

| What do we think of POF compared to other well known Australia sites Posted: 1/10/2007 1:59:54 PM | | PoF is fanastic, I dont know of any other site that has internet dating, Forums, Instant Messaging and all for FREE ! and Instant Messaging is not just messaging, there is video and audio messaging. I have said it before and will say it again, brillant work Marcus.. | |

| What do we think of POF compared to other well known Australia sites Posted: 1/12/2007 10:32:59 PM | ive done the rsvp thing, for one the stamps are too expensive, and 2 i dont think my e-mails have actually got to the person i sent them to. this site is good, it allows you to interact with a person of interest, but i'm sad to say that there is still that diva mentality among some of the women here.[i wouldn't know about the men], but after a week on this site i'd have to say this is the best | |

| What do we think of POF compared to other well known Australia sites Posted: 1/12/2007 11:02:10 PM | Mutha, the thing with Video and Audio messaging that it is compulsory that one wears something.... lol...
The other benefit is that it brings the world together in an instant. Now I have to go and do my hair incase someone IM me... (that was joke in case some find that to be a bit over the top) ahh the Melbourne humour is so unique..

| What do we think of POF compared to other well known Australia sites Posted: 3/24/2007 10:16:14 PM | Yeah they're all too expensive. No wonder there are punters out there who end up sending thousands of dollars and get no where, ge so disheartened with it and throw in the towel.
Also I just wish more people would realise that the whole idea of clubbing doen't work for all of us. In my experience all the women in those places are too pissed and the music to too loud to chat to them.
So that's why I love this site.

| What do we think of POF compared to other well known Australia sites Posted: 3/28/2007 4:23:21 AM | I've been on too many sites...lol. Mostly because I have never paid for them so in nearly every case couldn't contact people beyond a 'wink' or 'flirt' or whatever the applicable site had. Some have chatrooms that you can get into, some I have joinedf when they started and had full features to begin with. I have met a few people from sites when I have been able to message people. findsomeone when it was free I think was one of them. Never found the right person though, not even close actually. And being a guy I never had the problem of having too many to choose from like the women have.
Back to topic though POF is good for reasons already posted. I also hate sites that you cannot even look at a profile if you aren't a paid member. That is absurb. Can't think of anything bad about POF and just hope it stays that way. Now I just have to find someone on it

| What do we think of POF compared to other well known Australia sites Posted: 3/29/2007 4:20:48 AM | This is my 3rd day on here and my 1st day that I am allowed to post! I love it. I've been on lavalife and that sucks. It's so difficult to navigate. And you get so many sleazy guys on there just messaging you for dirty talk etc. They must think that "friends" is like "friends with benefits" or something. RSVP is ok but there isn't really any category for just friends or emailing and they have no forums. I think it's more for single people wanting to meet somebody. When I was single I really liked RSVP and thought it was great. But now I like POF because all I want to do is post in forums really. | |

| What do we think of POF compared to other well known Australia sites Posted: 6/12/2007 6:29:10 PM | In all honesty, apart from the smart cookies that post here on the forums, I have found the average POF profiler to be an uneducated MORON. At first, I thought it may just be that the service is free, and hence, it attracts people that can barely spell and/or be bothered to fill out their profile.
BUT, ok cupid is also a free service, and it seems to me to have more interesting and seemingly educated people. But please let me re-iterate this - I think all you wonderful forum posters are clever - it's just the average POFer that's a dumb-a$$
