my ex could sing, didn't mean much when he sang to me it was usually infront of ppl to impress them it wasn't really for me..
My current bf can't sing a note..but he sings to me for me..*sigh*

Somewhere, buried in the poetry section, I have a few of them. Not quite the same without the guitar (and my Kermit-the-Frog voice) but they're still from the heart.

Posted: 3/1/2006 8:29:03 PM | Musical...you are absolutely correct that an education in performance does not guarentee success, however it also is greatly dependent on the style of music that you wish to perform. I don't think that you will find too many Minnesota Opera Singers without some training to back that up. I also don't doubt that an ability to sing was alluring in High School - been there, done that, have the t-shirt. In time you will learn that life doesn't truly begin until after those years, though. Until then, enjoy your college experiences.
On topic...I still stand by the theory that talent in this realm is a must. An "A" for effort just won't cut it in my book, but that is just me. I've been with guys before that have attempted to sing when they really should keep that practice to the shower and it is tragic. How do you tell someone nicely that they are hurting your ears as the dog wimpers in the background?! A good voice, regardless of stylistic traits, is heaven, though.

Me, I was a voice major in college, so I like to sing. If a woman does not like for me to sing to her on occasion, then I know it is not going to be a good match.

| Do women still like guys who sing to them? Posted: 3/2/2006 4:00:39 PM | it depends upon the tune... if it's the same ol' tune heard too many times before, I'll pass...
and then again, if it's the soft sweet tune of fullfillment...mmmmmm..... I can listen to it all day and all night

I'd think i'd be?! by a man singing to you, your favorite song to me is another step in them showing that they care about you.. After all they took the time to learn..

| Do women still like guys who sing to them? Posted: 8/17/2006 7:19:18 PM | Interesting question, and I feel compelled to answer, because I think alot of women roll their eyes when they hear about a man singing to a woman on a date, or when trying to "win her over".
I met a man here on POF. We decided to meet. He asked if he could bring his guitar. My first instinct was "oh brother...this is going to be so cheesy", but I said sure.
Long story short, we're sitting on a blanket, we talked for a long time, then he brings out the guitar. We were in a public place and I was cringing inside..."omg, omg....don't sing...whatever you do don't sing" ...he sang, and it was amazing.
It was the most romantic date I've ever been on and the more he sang, the more I wanted to hear. It was like we were the only 2 people on the planet at that moment.
Of course it helps if the person has talent, and sounds good...and he definetly sounded good, and played just about everything under the sun.
Things didn't work out between us, but I'll never forget that moment...we made a memory, and I still think about it.
