The mammæ secrete the milk, and are accessory glands of the generative system. They exist in the male as well as in the female; but in the former only in the rudimentary state, unless their growth is excited by peculiar circumstances. Peculiar circumstances wold be a rise in the levels of estrogen, which all men have to some small degree. Some, more than others.

| Since Man Was Created First, Why Did God Give Man Nipples? Posted: 3/6/2006 11:52:01 PM | Thanks for the interesting information about male nipples, Garf.
It does seem true, Lord Dave, that Eve, the one who would be the stimulator of man's nipples, was created as an after thought. Sorry but unless the animals were supposed to be the stimulators of Adam's nipples I don't still don't see the reason Man came with nipples from the Biblical prospective.
Genesis 2:20And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. (KJV)
Perhaps I should ask why did God give man nipples for animals to pleasure him? No, I just don't think God gave us guys nipples for that reason. Can anyone see any logical reason for man having them at all, from a scriptural perspective?

According to biology, the only organ with the sole purpose of pleasure is clitoris.
Thats debatable realy, the clitoris dose only provide pleasure, but that plesure leads to orgasm and orgasm drasticaly increases the chance of becoming pregnant, so you could say that ithe clitoris is there to help us concive... if you can find it!
As for male nipples, I have another question... why do mamals have nipples and no other creature? If god gave men nipples purely for plesure, then why did he give male dogs nipples and why did he not give male iguanas nipples or male sharks, do they not deserve plesure just as much as dogs and pigs and men?

I still haven't got it whether this is a joke thread or not, anyway...
As for "why do mammals have nipples" emmmm Simple answer, because only mammals lactate. Mammals - mammary glands - boobs.
I know half of you are going to get the tomatos ready to shot, but Evo-devo science tells us that we as any other mammal evolved sharing similar features such as foetus covered in a placenta bag with long "incubation" times and getting fed by the mother at the earliest stages of development.
I'm not sure if I like the idea of sharks with boobs...

But I already knew the scientific reasoning behind my nipples.
What I was looking for here was the Bible followers direction to scripture or thier opinion as to why Adam was given nipples being that he was created first? So the topic really hasn't even begun as far as the reason I asked this question, Enryk. I believe some Bible follower will come up with something that makes some since.

I believe some Bible follower will come up with something that makes some since. Actually, the question you ask cannot be answered except by those who can read and properly understand ancient Hebrew. Then, for clarification, the reader would need to also be able to read Akkadian, from whom the ancient Hebrews inherited the story. But even in Akkadian, the story has a few holes in it. That’s because the Akkadians inherited the story from the ancient Sumerians and few Akkadian scribes were all that good at interpreting Sumerian because it was a very verbose and difficult language. The Sumerian versions are very close to that depicted in the Hebrew Bible, just quite a bit longer. .

In the early stages of life from conception until about 14 weeks, all human fetuses look the same, regardless of gender. At the tender age of 14 weeks post-fertilization , genetically-male fetuses begin to produce male hormones including testosterone. These hormones turn the androgynous fetus into a bouncing baby boy.
Here's where the developmental clock comes in. By 14 weeks, when the hormones turn on, the nipples have already formed. So, while our male fetus goes on to become a baby boy, he keeps his nipples, reminding all of us that people, male and female, started off the same way.

Cool beans, Dbndon. So do you know the answer to this question or someone who does? I would love for you to share your interpretation of this, version to increase my understanding of why God gave man nipples when man was created first and Eve seems to have been created as an afterthought.
Thanks for your thoughts young lady. I have read and posted the information page,
http://www.ratlab.co.uk/nipples.htm
where this fetal development begins at 7 weeks instead of 14 weeks. Where did you hear it was at 14 weeks?

| Since Man Was Created First, Why Did God Give Man Nipples? Posted: 3/8/2006 9:02:48 AM | | I just got it out of my text book for school! This topic has just recently been adressed in my class! I believe the nipple is formed at 7 weeks but the sex of the fetus is not clearly determined until the release of harmones at 14 weeks. Not sure but this is my understanding ! | |

I'm not asking you to type something in exactly as written from your text book but a realistic conveyance, of some sort (with a reference), would be nice, if you have the time or desire. This would greatly increase my understanding of my human creation and development, which to me seems very important.

man was made in god's image.....god must have nipples
Marol, Do you really think God has nipples? If so what do you see God doing with them?

Posted: 2/8/2007 10:24:11 AM | | if your trying to "figure out" the answer to your question, then your answer must be purely a mortal, physical one...and the chromosome theory sounds plausable to me. if on the other hand your surching for the Truth to the matter, the Truth is ; the human body evolved this way - it was never directly created. so dont confuse yourself by trying to mix truth with Truth - they are neither equal or equivilant.

| Since Man Was Created First, Why Did God Give Man Nipples? Posted: 2/10/2007 2:19:40 PM | A major pandoras box here and quite unsettling for some to accept. Since God gave us a brain and we have used this brain and are able to determine that all people are conceived as females (we know this beyond a doubt for sure) and that we are not made male until later it brings up an even stickier quiestion.
Genesis 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth." Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Life begins at conception, i.e. it is when I am created and since I am conceived female therefore since I was CREATED in God's image I must then draw the logical conclusion that God is indeed female correct?
If not and life does not begin at conception, then the whole abortion issue becomes a moot point as we have two sides to an argument, one claiming life begins at conception and the other side saying they have an inalienable right to determine how their bodies are to be used. Nowhere in that heated debate is there a third side saying, hold on, maybe there is another definition to when life begins.
Me personally? Life is the condition that distinguishes organisms from inorganic objects and dead organisms, being manifested by growth through metabolism, reproduction, and the power of adaptation to environment through changes originating internally.
Therefore I firmly believe that life does indeed begin at conception. Then again, I Personally happen to believe God is a woman.

| Since Man Was Created First, Why Did God Give Man Nipples? Posted: 2/10/2007 2:23:06 PM | | So with the nipple question cleared up I would really love to know if Adam had a belly button? I mean think about it, he wasn't born like the rest of us were so logically adam should not have a belly button right? | |

| Since Man Was Created First, Why Did God Give Man Nipples? Posted: 2/11/2007 2:51:19 PM | okay I have to say it...........there are several verses in the Old Testament where God speaks as a plurality........ the most common one that people remember is "Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;[/b} and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth,” Gen. 1:26,
So......after reading some of this stuff.......where "God" makes reference to "himself".....gotta say............lmao................if there is a "God", he was not alone........therefore......where did he get the notion of putting nipples on man? From his wife.......uh huh........... what is that other saying.............behind every great man there is a great wife..........

| Since Man Was Created First, Why Did God Give Man Nipples? Posted: 2/11/2007 4:17:46 PM | Tiny Hotspot,
The quote is "behind every great man there is a strong woman" not a wife. Some of the greatest people that happen to be blessed or cursed (depending on one's view) with a certain chromosone pairing never have gotten married. That strong woman could be their mother. Ugh. Wife. Ugh, it doesn't take a wife. There are strong gay men that have a terrific partner.
It should be updated. Behind every strong homo sapien is another homo sapien that believes in and supports the wants, needs, and dreams of said first homosapien.
OKAY THAT'S IT! I'M GOING BACK TO LAW SCHOOL!

| Since Man Was Created First, Why Did God Give Man Nipples? Posted: 2/11/2007 6:42:48 PM | If I were a beliver, I think both Adam and Eve had belly buttons...........God would have had to poke them to see if they were done enough before releasing them onto the world.........
It might be also that is why pregnant women's belly buttons pop out........when the baby is time to be born..........lmao.........at least that is what some young pregnant women thought........LOL
