Yeah this guy sent me his first pic (taken some yrs back) in which he was wearing sunglasses. I wrote him and asked if he got some recent pics which show his eyes. He took off like immediately. Made me wonder if he was afraid I am gonna get jealous of his long thick lashes, almost non-existent crow's feet or what?

What about the women who hold the camera above their head to hide their weight problem.... I've seen some masters of camera angles when comparing real life to online photos. Their must be a guide to online photos I don't know about.

Ive got photos with and without sunglasses.

We all do things to make ourselves more attractive to others but I don't see how a man wearing sunglasses is any more misleading than a woman wearing make-up or a push-up bra. -shrug-

I think that the whole guy-wearing-sunglasses and/or baseball cap is our equivalent of chicks profiles that only have a headshot.

IMO headshots are more deceptive than sunglasses. Sunglasses are only hiding the eyes. While headshots are hiding the body. I think you would have a better argument with hats. But even then, at least a man could claim that he wears hats often and his photos are taken at settings where it is natural to wear a hat.. While many of the head / boob shots are taken at very weird angles.

Im actually glad I read this thread... it motivated me to go take another bodyshot and put it on my profile.

Im tempted to go post a new topic about how "Red Walls" in profile pictures can be misleading.

Is it possible the dude just likes sunglasses? I wear sunglasses allot. I have several different pair. I'm not married. I'm not involved with anyone. I'm not trying to hide anything. I'm just trying to keep the UVs out of my retinas while looking good doing so. And while I may be a bit strange from time to time, I'm not suspect at all.

Youre right Canadian girl and very intelligent like most females from Canada. Unless the guy is a prof like a doctor, teacher or bounty hunter

Ahhh... I am one of these men; guilty of all of the above (sunglasses, women, and not being seen clearly).

HOWEVER, I also have regular pictures with just me, close up, no women, and no sunglasses. When going through pictures to post, I wanted to mix things up a tad and show me in some of my natural environments (sans swinging from chandeliers and gettin' jiggy with it). Yes, I used to seriously date a real-life woman and yes we took pictures together... and it just so happens that almost all of my recent photos have her in them with me. It's not like I'm trying to show off. If anything, I think it demonstrates that I'm capable of commitment (or whatever... it just sounded good). However, I did my best to edit her out by blotting her face with a big yellow smiley. :-) Moral of the story is this: I don't expect to be the first dude that a woman has ever dated and I think it's insane for her to expect the same. We all have a past... if people are going to have a future together then they need to be okay with seeing pictures of the infamous "ex(s)".

I also snowboard, so I've got a couple of those pictures up and they're not real clear. One, in particular, does not show any of my features whatsoever... I'm covered head to toe in full gear; including face mask and goggles. I'm not bald, don't have any facial deformities, and I'm not trying to hide my face because I'm married. It's just a picture that shows me doing one of my favorite winter sports.

I'm wearing sunglasses in one picture because I was visiting friends in California and, well, it's sunny there. Granted, it wasn't sunny at the moment the picture was taken, but I'm posing with Heff so cut me some slack. You'd do it too... don't lie.

Soooo... moral of the story is RELAX, ladies. Yeah, yeah... dudes lie and cover stuff up blah blah blah. Women do it too. That's just a risk you take when you turn to anonymous dating. My position on the matter is if you are going to go through your dating life constantly being so skeptical of the opposite sex, then you will probably shoot a good potential relationship in the foot long before it gets off and running.

Besides... bad dating stories make for good discussion fodder when you're dating someone you actually LIKE. You get to sit back and laugh at eachothers misfortunes, then console yourselves with the fact that it all happened so that you could eventually meet eachother.

Frankly, some of the opinions I've read from some people here leave little doubt in my mind as to why they're still single. WAY too picky sums it up. It's okay to be picky... but let's put things in perspective. "He wears sunglasses" or "He has pictures with a girl in it" don't seem like real viable deal-breakers to me. But as with anything in life, individual results may vary.

Who cares if they are in a pic with other woman. Are you really that insecure? Sunglasses do not = suspicious, they = man with sun in his eyes that likes to see where he is going.

I totally agree with u. They probably payed the women to be in the picture, because if they could get all of these attractive women in the pic then why on this site?

I agree. Many people are too fussy and judgmental about photos. For example I have seen and read the following statements about certain types of photos
a photo of person having a beer in the hand = drinking problem
a photo of person standing to people of opposite gender = player
a shirtless photo of a man = arrogant
a cell phone photo = no friends

For me, a photo just needs to be relatively clear, recent, and accurate.

What about women who where sunglassses? Why single out men? People who are secure, don't care either way, sunglasses or no sunglasses. People who don't like to see peolple in sunglasses are people who have hangups.

Make sure you've got a couple ladies standing on either side of you, too... and wear a hat.

Chics dig it.

I read above
hmm I wonder what my stance on a guy wearing sunglasses being surrounded by women would be ...now theres a toughie!,
well, I think he should be wearing a hat and have his motorcycle and car on either side of him too.

Don't forget to make sure he is also holding a dead fish too while wearing no shirt and taking the picture in a mirror........showing his tattoo.......

Ha! So Im not the only one who sees this too! And what gets me is this: many men post on their profile they want a current full body pic of women in order for them to grace the woman with their response!
Sunglass-wearing men are obviously hiding. Why? Men, such frail beings
And pictures with women: shakes head....I just dont get it

I think any person wearing shades in a main profile pic is irritating to say the least. Put that pic on the back burner, on the section where you have had exploits in Angkor Wat or Chichen Itza. We want to see your eyes. The eyes are the single most important part of a man or woman. Truly the first thing we see (accept for the ladies who take a pic of their chest or guys who aim down below for a main pic).

I agree with you Canuck 43. I met someone who posted a picture with ex just to make her jealous. Serious red flag.

Geeessshhh!! Most of the profiles on here of women your age are crammed full of other peeps, especially other women, and most of those look better than the profiler. Why? The message is-date me so you can meet my friends?
A human creature that delights in the sensual, the visually stimulating, is not necessarily frail. It's always been the religious folks who admonish that the flesh is weak. Sex personified, glorified by photos, on here or elsewhere, can be a pretty powerful and provocative statement, frequently more concise, and cogent, than the common drivel about beach strolls, favorite music, or faux protestations about anything sexual that abound here. jmho
The more you can show about yourself in the 30 seconds most browsers will allow you, at most, the better, I should think. If your profile pitch is reaching the wrong, or unwanted swains, you can always change it. Better to cull the keepers from a netful than to have not even a nibble.

Man you can't please anyone on here:

Can't wear sunglasses
Can't be shirless
Can't wear a bikini
Can't be shot in the bathroom mirror
Can't shoot from above
Can't have friends in the shot
Can't be shot from the Hubel satilite
Can't have children in the shot
Can't be a picture of your dog
Can't be airbrushed

Wait....a passport picture!! Thats the ticket! Then everyone can look god-awful (level playing field and all that)

I'll just stick with being 'pic-less'.

Haha, another funny/picky thread:

1. sunglasses on - it is sunny out
2. pictures with a bunch of women - he is heterosexual
3. pictures from far away - showing off the landscape
4. no picture - working on it

I think there is no point in focusing on the negative on a profile and instead I look for things that I connect with in the person. Too many people focus on the little details that don't mean a whole lot when the bigger picture is.
