| to Sienna_leigh Posted: 9/16/2006 4:37:55 AM | | for me it's simple. i'm not allowed to drive. i've had Epilepsy for nearly all of my life and i've got to go without having a seizure for 2-3 years before i even qualify for a provisional liscence and start having lessons which cost a fortune nowadays. so it's a mixture of the two really. cost and medical reasons lol. lessons nowadays cost in the region of £16 per lesson, then there's the car, tax insurance. petrol. or you can pay for public transport lol | |

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 9/16/2006 7:00:33 AM | Lots of people don't drive and more of us should try it - we should be thingking about the environment as much as anything else - all you people who drive think about the planet
Its not a turn off to meet a guy who doesn't drive!

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 10/9/2006 6:57:49 PM | | My ex lost his license to a D.W.I. I had to drive EVERYWARE... even take him to work. I had had enough. I will never do that again. It was the biggest pain in the neck . If a guy can't be resposible enough to have a license or a car...(one is needed where I live.).... then bye bye baby. | |

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 10/10/2006 12:53:05 AM | Women look for signs if a man is a no good lazy schmuck, so being in they're 20's without a license shows lack of ambition an laziness an no one, male or female who is independant wants anything to do with someone who will be a burden.
The only relationship where one party is a resource liability is parent to child (temporary usually) & Owner & pet.
Even a wannabe live at home mom (noble traditional occupation regardless of what Fem Nazis think) provides a vital service.

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 10/10/2006 11:41:48 PM | I don't know about it being a turn off..he could be one sexy dude with out a license..lol. It is a pain in the rear end though. I had a girlfriend for a year that didn't have a license and had to take her everywhere. Anyway I drive for a living so when i'm home I usually make everyone else drive | |

Who the HELL doesn`t drive these days????
I don't ... no, I didn't lose a license bc of doing anything irresponsible, I've just never had one for several different reasons.
As for the topic, when I was dating honestly it did make it difficult to see each other if he didn't drive and we lived very far apart... but wasn't a deal breaker or anything.

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 9/10/2007 1:22:05 PM | I don't drive. I have a license, but my old car was an unsafe p.o.s. Buying another used one and paying insurance isn't really worth it in Portland when I'm trying to get through school on less than 20k a year. The $100+ parking fee's most downtown appartments have along with the cost of parking on campus at my school or anywhere near it also aren't very reasonable when I can take a bus or train and be there in the same amount of time. If I do wind up getting a car anytime soon it's going to spend most of its time collecting dust in an expensive parking spot while I'm walking everywhere downtown.
I've thought about getting a moped or motorcycle recently since the insurance on either of those is something I can afford, but at best that'd just be enough to get me around without having to wait on a bus.

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 9/10/2007 1:49:03 PM | hhmm, in europe , a lot of people (if not majority) don't drive. getting drive licenses are quite expensive besides it is also time consuming.
so it all depends, like those "african babes", you might have to pick them up with boeing 747...

crazy...I too am sick and tired of meeting guys that don`t drive!!!!! Who the HELL doesn`t drive these days???? Guys I keep meeting and it is a HUGE turnoff....I will not date a man who doesn`t drive anymore!!!! I want an old fashioned date where I am PICKED UP and DRIVEN to our date!!!! Not a lot to ask!!
I dont' have a license. I'm not comfortable behind the wheel knowing that i'm in control of a fast moving ton and a half steel block. Especially feeling like everybody's judging my skills at it. Hell, my mother tried teaching me how to drive a standard....couldn't understand the shift stick/clutch at all, never made it out of the drive way. She let me drive the automatic for a bit, and wow...the gas pedal is over sensitive. Barely tap the thing and ZOOOM.
No, i don't want high insurance rates just because of my gender, when i can spend three times less on a bus pass and let somebody else drive.

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 9/17/2007 5:48:00 AM | Lol. This issue continues to come up. And it brings to mind my own observations.
When I had a car, I had no trouble with picking a girl up to go out. Drive her around. Whatever. It wasn't really all that big a deal to me. Not too long ago, I totaled my car. Hit a deer. I haven't gotten a new car, and it's given me the opportunity to observe something rather amusing. Me not having a car *is* a big deal to females. It was all right when I was toting their dead weight around, but now that the shoe is on the other foot, it's a huuuge deal.
I love it. | |

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 9/17/2007 6:36:07 AM | I'll tell you why, because to most women, a man NOT having a car shows laziness, he's unresponsible, and has no ambition. Girls like it like the fairytales guys! They want to be PICKED UP on dates, not have to PICK UP the guy!. | |

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 9/17/2007 6:47:28 AM | It's all good. A girl who's unwilling to be flexible is going to miss out. Plain and simple. There are always circumstances, and if certain women can't deal with that, there is always another woman who can. | |

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 10/27/2007 7:03:31 PM | Car : 100-15,000 dollars Insurance: 150-250 per month Gas: Expensive Maintenance/Repairs: Dont' go there Parking: Lots
Bus Pass: 60 per month, or 450 per year.
Guess which option I went with?

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 10/27/2007 7:32:59 PM | I don't drive, either. It was the choice I made in high school because I learned I could bike everywhere. Ironically, food is actually much more expensive than gas when you need to consume upwards of 3000 calories/day.
Anyway, I still bike around. I don't have a license anymore - I simply let it expire, but after I'm finished with school, I will need to get it again and a car because I'm planning on persuing a career in information technology. But if I can get away with it, I'd rather bike everywhere. I don't like to drive, and learning to drive was hell because the onlyperson that made time to teach me was my dad, and I'm driving his car...well, I think the italics get the message across.
But yeah. I'm going to have my mom teach me, I think. Considering I've pretty much mastered stability with a bicycle (had done so a long time ago; went 11km on balck ice and only fell twice!!), a car shouldn't be that hard; not like I've never driven.
But if I can get away with it, I'd rather have an expensive bike that I ride a lot and a shitty car that I drive rarely.

| Turn off when guys dont drive?? Posted: 10/27/2007 8:37:19 PM | because to most women, a man NOT having a car shows laziness, he's unresponsible, and has no ambition Now that's a sweeping generalization if I ever heard one. Depending on the guy's age, he made be in school and can't afford wheels. Maybe he's investing his money in something that appreciates in value (like a house) rather than a car that depreciates.
BTW, is unresponsible even a word???
It's all good. A girl who's unwilling to be flexible is going to miss out. Plain and simple. There are always circumstances, and if certain women can't deal with that, there is always another woman who can I agree with Seraph1m, if you're inflexible, you may lose out.
Girls like it like the fairytales guys So you want a guy to pick you up in a horse and buggy??
