Thank you for this forum. I used to be a minister before they would not let me continue ater divorce (even though she filed). Some ladies are afraid to be open with me and others are shocked that I love to dance and cuddle.

As far as sales, I am sold on people every day. I am a real estate investor and becoming an investor's realtor. I noticed some ladies on this site were afraid of salesmen. I wonder if these are the same ladies that fall immediately for a guy who ends up a LOSER and do not trust themselves to make a good judgement. I am always amazed at how a person leaves one to go to another one of the same or worse. Many years after divorce my ex wanted to get back together -- too late!

Thank you for sharing. I especially loved the response to the lady re-evaluating morticians because they might keep her hair going and be a butler to her. I like that. She KNOWS she wants to be pampered!

I am amazed no one said that their ex should be a mortician because they led to a DEAD MARRIAGE!

If you think nurses are bad it is because you have not dated them. They are great nurturers and kissers. The two doctors I have dated were great, too!

I do think it is sad that the educations we were told to get do not always fulfill us monetarilly. You should be able to do what you love but that is not always possible.
Congrats to the College-educated factory workers for finding their self-worth in something OTHER than their vocation.

And she could make her own hours work around mine (which suck!) and gave to the poor?

....nahhh her pension and benefits would probably be the pits.

As long as the person works an honest days work and feels good about themselves doing it. Before I got into the career I'm in now I was a manager for a drug store and hated it - and I'm sure it showed in my outlook on life. Started down the road to doing the job I love now and my whole outlook on life changed for the better.

It brings to mind an early episode of "Friends" where Rachel had a crush on Phoebe's GYN...Rachel asked him why such a cute doctor was still single, and he replied..."It's that alot of women have trouble accepting what I DO for a living...for instance, what do YOU do for a living?" And Rachel said "I'm a waitress..." and the GYN said, "Well haven't you ever said to yourself...'If I see ONE more cup of coffee...'" Rachel, (drinking a cup of coffee at that moment), gets this disgusted look on her face.

I don't think I could date a GYN...after all, he sees one, he's seen 'em all!

I'm a letter carrier. I was in 1st year of college when my parents decided to divorce and I had to actually get an apartment and fend for myself. I worked fulltime days and switched to night school. I HATED IT. I didn't want to pay off student loans for the rest of my life and decided I needed something that was pretty stable and would make me self sufficient. At age 20 I took the postal exam, a police exam and if neither worked out I was headed into the military because I didn't know what else. Within a year I had a job offer with the postal service and it's been very good to me. I have taken alot of flak from some men I've dated about doing a "man's job" (I even had a guy insinuate that you could be clinically stupid and perform my job) and personally..if they had a problem with it, I showed them where the door was. The best was a internet first date. We met for coffee. He worked for Qwest (no clue what he did but he drove a Beamer) and he pretty much ragged on me doing "manual labor" and that my manicure bill must be expensive because my hands still looked nice. Needless to say..I never went out with him again..and about 2 months later..Qwest laid off 2000 employees in South Florida and I saw him online and asked how he was doing. He said "got laid off"...I just said "hmmm..my mail carrying job doesn't look so bad now does it?"

I think it STINKS that so many are immediately and negatively, affected by the profession of a potential relationship. Could it be that it "threatens" their own sense of self-worth? The olde shallow "How do I introduce you to my peers" dilemma?

If they are taking care of themelves, living life well, and compassionate, intelligent, and caring...then who the heck gives a flying fu*k WHAT they DO to pay their own way?

Well...OKOK... "ASSASSIN" would make me a wee bit uneasy...

In your list of professions you have nurses' are you stating that nurses' are a turn off b/c of their profession or are you just listing a few professions and wondering who finds these professions, if any a turn off. My question to you is why would anyone find a nurse a turnoff as a profession...They are well educated, caring passionate individuals, with the opportunity to travel anywhere in the world and also educate themselves to the point of "the sky is the limit".
The only profession I would see as not a turn off but perhaps a problem in a relationship would be a prostitute (male/female) stripper, porn star. These are professions that would become a problem in a relationship I don't care how much the other person states that it is only business, intimacy in a relationship is between the two people involved and i find it hard to believe if the person who is not the stripper etc. is being truthful if they are saying that it does not bother them...also the probability that you will contract some sort of disease is pretty high. These of course are all high paying but to what expense.

I think immediate turn offs for me are doctors. The ones I have been around are pretty oblivious to anything outside of their chosen recreational activities and their med studies. I'm always amazed that they've been so 'sheltered' from life outside of med school they can't seem to function in daily life and have ZERO street smarts. Also forget love notes and letters, if they have the time to write one and put the though into it you CAN'T read it.

Military is also a turn off. I have yet to meet an enlisted guy who was remotely close to what he thought he was in several areas. The ones I've met have also been the flakiest. I'm starting to think guys with less than 5 years out of the service are not worth even talking to online. Every one I have met in person has been a whack job and a half. Ok, so have the artsy fartsy type guys I've met. I guess I do try and stay clear of artists and musicians too.

Give me a lawyer, cop, judge, advocate, psychologist, counselor, or rancher (who grew up, moved away to see the world/get educated and moved back home years later) ANY DAY. As long as they are not a defense attorney (or wills, trusts, and probate) I have really enjoyed being around the attorneys. Lawyers can at least hold an intelligent conversation about almost anything AND they are more apt (as with most cops I have dated) to be level headed and not have bad tempers. But they do keep you on your toes!

I generally don't pay much attention to careers as long as he has one. I'm talking a career, not just a job. If a guy doesn't love what he does that is a HUGE red flag for me. I want somebody I am attracted to mentally as well as physically who has good morals/values and is ambitious.
