The guys name is Fred Moody, and we called him the Cougar Hunter, because when we go out to bars, 95% of the time, the first cougar he walks up to he ends up going home with.
True story - One time he was talking to this older woman with her husband. When her husband went to the bathroom, she grabs him and started making out with him hardcore.
He's great at explaining what it takes to date and hook up with cougars, and I've gotten success myself just from learning from him.

one is the flashy, trashy big hair, short skirt types that seem to be the popular image - they seem to be in their 30s from the ones I've seen (yes a gross generalisation!)
And the REAL cougars -
who hate the label
are naturally successful, happy, attractive femine women
who just naturally attract younger men with no effort or thought - it's like breathing
who are hunted by the younger men, but at the end of the day make the decision whetehr they want to play/interact or not.... that's the real power
they don't try, they just are
and they are real, vulnerable, sexy and human.
if a guy is lukcy enough to catch a real one, they don't tend to let them go!
to me, that's the real cougar. i visualise them as just sitting under the bush watching the rest run around - if the man finds them they chose, but they don't push their profile. The rest are just wannabees. if you're not keen on the label, but always attract younger men, you;re the POWER cougar girl!!

i suppose i am technically a cougar - as i await my date who is 8 years my junior. i'm not a a big haired blonde wearing enough make-up to scare a hooker. i just have a preference for youthful energy. but if they're too young (i don't know what that is - maybe under 30?) then we probably don't have enough in common for them to hold my interest. | |

That is how the term started. And to add to that most women around 40 to 50 have high sex drives that is more compatible to a man in his early 20s to early 30s. One of gods little jokes. Some famous cougars: Demi Moore, Susan Sarandon, Geena Davis (has twins with cubby hubby 15 years her senior), Sharon Stone, Halle Berry, Cher, Sheryl Crow, Madonna. All of them married their cubs. So, no stereotyping please. | |

Look at my profile and you'll see the definition of a "COUGAR" (I don't mind the term... I think Samantha from SATC researched my life to base her character!!)
I am 40+... Do NOT wear crazy make up or clothing...Just a normal woman... The difference is ... YOUNGER GUYS SEEK ME OUT...it's NOT the other way around... and I LOVE IT!!!
I have NEVER dated anyone my age... I divorced when I was 33... at that time I looked like I was 20 something... Yes, it's genetics...You should see my Mom and her legs.. (75!)
5 yrs. ago I married a man 15 yrs. younger than me...and we divorced because HE WAS BORING and had no interest in learning anything in the bedroom!!! :(
Older men ask me out...but I don't feel attracted to them... so I guess I will be a COUGAR until I am no longer attractive to my CUBS!!!

I am 46 now, and have dated men generally 15 -and+ younger since becoming "single" again (almost 12 yrs.). Mind you, I said men--not boys! To many, 'cougar' connotates an impression of one on the 'prowl' or 'hunt' -- and the 'cubs' being the 'prey' or 'victims'. It can be considered demeaning or degrading...or, on the other hand, can be worn as a badge of honor! 'Cougars' do not have to go "hunting" or "fishing" (LOL)...just kick back, relax, watch & enjoy the scenery--and...OMG!!! What is a girl to do!!!!!!!

Unless she has Demi Moore's looks and bank account, rather than trying to present herself to much younger men as a woman looking for a long-term relationship, she would do better to present herself as someone looking to date casually, or as someone seeking an IE. | |

Posted: 9/21/2011 8:39:21 PM | I always thought, that a "cougar" is a woman, who at least been married at once, has kids, but now divorced and she is enjoying the freedom she has gained, and due to being attractive, she attracts younger males who are also still independent and usually has no baggage.
The reason I think she'd do that, has to do with she is knowing very well, that she won't settle with the younger guy, but he is fun to keep around as long as she can. If they feel like getting into a serious relationship though, she will be looking for someone closer to her age, but until then.......... she is testing her 'attractiveness" skills, and attracting a younger male who has far more options and wider selection for women is a giant success and a confirmation to her, that "she still got it", so attracting a same age or older guy should be a breeze. | |
