| TOMBOYS Posted: 1/31/2005 9:05:10 AM | Well you make a good point that having a girl that is into those things is great. I mean I would love to have my girl watch sports with me or play video games with me. However here is my argument some times guys need to be away from there woman. They just do, not to cheat or even flirt, But they need some male bonding. Guys back me up here we all need that time to be a bust you balls, slobish, belching guy. Now that is near imposible to do if your with your girl even if she is alright with you being that way. We kind of hang back when we are with you. Now all im saying is that men need their own time. Just like girls need their own time. Now if your dating a tomboy and you can do your own things every now and then thats great It will probably be a great relationship. But its just seems harder to find that alone time when she is into everything you are. I guess that may be a separate issue from the tomboy thing.

| TOMBOYS Posted: 1/31/2005 10:04:15 AM | Well Lauren, guys compete with guys... and when a guy wants to be with a woman, it's usually because he's looking to spend some time away from that and do something different... If the woman is like another guy, it just keeps the pressure on, kinda...
The feeling a guy like me is looking for is something that makes him relax... makes his blood pressure go down and the endorphins get into the blood. Being with other guys (for many of us, anyway) just doesn't do that. We want something different...
I'm sure there are alot of guys who enjoy that though... it's hard for us to change who we are and if you tried I doubt you'd be happy, just like I could see that I could never be happy with that personality type; regardless of how attractive she was.

| TOMBOYS Posted: 1/31/2005 11:31:22 AM | And you think WE will ever understand YOU?!?!
As aeklock said, tho, sometimes you do need time apart from someone, a place you can go that belongs just to you. People need to dedfine themselves in ways that are unique to themselves, and not just as part of their partenr's life. Having said that, dating a tomboy would not necessarily impinge on tis, you just need different places. I love tomboys, mainly because as a general rule they are more self-confident thatn girly-girls. There are plenty of confident girly-gilrs out there, but not too many tomboys lacking in self-confidence,because it takes guts to be a tomboy, and not play the "normal" role of a woman as demanded by society.
So keep up the tomboyness, and u will find the right guy - but probably not among your current friend set. Nothing against them, especially since I don't know them, but htey all knwo you, and if none of 'em's put a move on you yet, I don't see them doing so any time in the near future. But u r too hot 2b single for long.
Cheerz! | |

| TOMBOYS Posted: 2/5/2005 8:21:37 PM | I'm glad some men like tomboys !!! Our stories dont often end well. My friend Ashley is a total tomboy. She is in love with her best friend, macho hockey dude Jason but Jason goes out with ultra-girly Nicole. Ashley is in tears all the friggin time and stuff, i dont envy her. Guys, if a tomboy (or any girl) hangs around you and listens to your crap and rescues you when you need her, chances are that she might love you. LOOK at HER instead of the useless pretty girls walking by !!! | |
|
| TOMBOYS Posted: 2/6/2005 2:40:23 AM | I'm totally into tomboys, as long as they're cute and don't LOOK masculine (ie steroid using bodybuilder women with facial hair = no) ;) But they can dress masculine all they want. A cute girl is cute whether she's in a dress or a t-shirt and jeans. And if her T-shirt has Super Mario or a 20-sided die on it, then that makes her 10 times cuter than any "girly girl".
If a girl can kick your a** at video (or any type of games) at least some of the time, she's a keeper. :)

| TOMBOYS Posted: 2/6/2005 2:44:55 AM | I also think geeks/dorks/nerds are more likely to appreciate tomboys than the typical alpha male jock type, the alpha male jocks tend to go for girly girls.
So you girls just need to hang out at your local "Comics N Games" shop. Many of the guys there will be more than happy to meet a woman who can actually discuss the merits of Green Lantern Vs. Darth Vader or who can actually give them a challenge at Halo. :)

| TOMBOYS Posted: 2/6/2005 8:08:00 AM | | Yes I like tom-boys,just as long as they are not more manly than I am.A woman is a woman, some dress like girls, wearing dresses and skirts and others like to dress in jeans and sneakers.I dont care what a woman wears,if she like me........ | |

I don't know what you call them in english.. like.. a butch-dyke? Kind of politcally incorrect but I got nothing.... my best friend here is a Tom... and when she is walking with her girlfriend you can't tell she is not the man, except that she is far too feminine and cute in that "I'm a 19 year old 10 year old" way. Just figured I'd pass it on... Also.. in Thai... a penis is called a "jew".... enjoy

| TOMBOYS Posted: 3/8/2005 5:45:07 PM | I've always found that men seem not to like my "night wear" as a tom boy. Yeah I like the flannel pj pants and little t-shirts. I guess I could dress up occasionally in those silky deals, but what's the big deal really?? I remember as a young girl, I started "developing" in Grade 6. My Mother forced me to wear a bra and it was one of the most devestating experiences of my life! I dated someone recently that said he always assumed that girls LIKED it when that happened...that they were always PROUD to show off those 'developing breasts'. I know I looked at him like he had 10 heads. I'm a bit better now, about my 'femininity', but I know in the past, I had always viewed it as a weakness, as I felt that most men found women to be the 'weaker sex' and it drove me nuts. As a result, I played with matchbox cars instead of dolls, and dreamed of being a professional race car driver, instead of a flight attendent or supermodel. When we played "house" I always ended up being 'the husband' by default. Career wise I chose to be an EMT and work in the Fire Hall.... I digress however, about 2 years ago I was encouraged by a male friend to just "try" putting on a skirt and boots, instead of the cargo pants and t-shirts I was so used to wearing. Turns out that it's not as bad as I thought! I don't do it that often, but I will wear a skirt or a dress now from time to time, if the occasion calls for it. I'm still not as comfortable as I am in pants though. My hair is long, and I love to color it/curl it etc. I do wear make up, just not that much. I'm soooo glad that I gave birth to a son, as it seems easier for me to relate to him, than I would have a daughter I think. I'm working on embracing my femininity as a 'strength' and not a 'weakness', but I have to wonder, is this the thing that sparked most tomboys 'roots'?? | |

He would. That *is* pretty d*mn close to ideal (other than a tomboy who can, after all that, do the occasional dressing up as a girly-girl and make all his friends jealous).

| TOMBOYS Posted: 3/9/2005 12:03:43 PM | | Yeah I do believe tomboys are awesome. My wife is a tomboy. That know what you like, and they don't have a problem hanging out and drinking with your friends. Not only that, but I found that tomboys are AWESOME in bed. | |

| TOMBOYS Posted: 3/9/2005 12:13:16 PM | they don't really like tomboys, lauren, they just say they do. let a barbie girl show interest and they are gone quicker than that arm-wrestling match he beat you at last weekend.
they jsut feel safe around us, cuz they can be themselves. but sooner or later men get bored with safe.
ok i'm generalizing. how about MOST men but not ALL.
@manx.
i had no idea you were bi-sexual. what a revelation.

| TOMBOYS Posted: 3/9/2005 12:21:29 PM | I agree with Kazak.
I like the idea of tomboy's, that they are into guy things. And I definitely like the "small t-shirt and flannel pants" bedtime attire.
But I don't trust tomboys, from experience with them. They usually have alot of guy friends, and I'll bet any major organ that most of them are either ex's or guys that have asked her out and were rejected but stuck around as friends (ie waiting in the wings for her to one day notice and fall for them).
I'd much prefer, after an argument, or during a rough patch or even separation due to travel, to know that my GF is chilling with her female friends than have her go over to a guy friends place (cuz, oh, she only has guy friends) and end up having comfort sex. Fair enough, a non-tomboy could do the same thing, but chances are, if you are a tomboy and separated from your BF for a few months, you'll be hanging almost exclusively with guys, and doing guy things like going to pubs or clubs with them, and that can easily lead to sex (because you like sex so much, like a guy does, and can't hold out, especially after the magical 3 drinks).
It's just a trust thing for me, is all. I don't trust any women easily, but I'd never bother dating a tomboy (even though they are cool) because I wouldn't trust them, EVER. Because I know what guys are like, and the more a girl is like a guy, the less I trust her not to be lil cheater.
I don't mean to sound like a tomboy basher at all, its just my preference not to have to deal with someone who has alot of opportunities to cheat, because people are inherently cheaters, always wanting the best for themselves, given the opportunity.

| TOMBOYS Posted: 3/9/2005 12:25:09 PM | <---Would rather b with a tomboy. The things I like to do , regular girls don't like.(i.e.-Drag races, working on race cars, shooting guns, drinking alot, drinking while shooting guns in my race car.) Tomboys are great. No Mudbug, I would not drop a tomboy for a barbie. I'd have her kick her a$$, for hittin on me. | |
