What sort of thing do you like? I'm sure there are lots of us able to recommend stuff.
I loved Memoirs of a Geisha, haven't seen the film though.

And I do use the library gg, very useful place! But I do wander round aimlessly with ni idea what I'm looking for.

Edit - forgot to mention "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold

| What book are you currently reading? Posted: 4/9/2006 10:40:36 AM | I am currently reading Enemy of God by Bernard Cornwell. One of his best books, great stuff indeed. His historic accuracy and story telling are superb and very enjoyable.
I will then go on to either my next Jeeves and Wooster book by Wodehouse, which is some of the best comedy you can read anywhere; or I shall read Demons and Angels, which seems to be very popular at the moment.
I can't wait for the next Discworld book by Terry Pratchett! They are always brilliant!
|
| What book are you currently reading? Posted: 4/9/2006 10:43:08 AM | Reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman, and Never Let Me Go by Kazuro Ishiguro, and liking them both in very different ways :)
I also can't wait for the next Pratchett, the man is a pure genius.

Me and a bunch of friends decided to do one of those "read x books in a year" things. They all said do 12, one a month. I decided to aim for 100, because I read obscenely quickly. I'm sitting at about 30 just now after going through a spell of reading 1000-odd page trash by Tom Clancy (I was working a lot and needed something to turn my brain off!)
Highlights of the year so far are probably Louis Theroux's "Call of the Wierd", a bunch of followups to people he had on his TV show, and pretty much all of John Connolly's stuff for a spot of slightly supernatural crime type shenanigans.
But at the moment I'm reading Clive Barker's "Weaveworld", and trying to see if I can work out what places in Liverpool he's changed the names of...

I seriously don't get the Pratchett thing, all that Orangutang Librarian stuff and Turtles and suchlike. Still each to their own
