Anyone who has to go into the right lane before turning left. If ya gonna turn left then get ova and turn f*(kin left..... ha ha ha

Posted: 5/8/2008 8:30:21 PM | In Italy ...I think the goal is to never use the brakes. The second family I nannied for gave me a car to use. I admit I was at a disadvantage to begin with, seeing as it was like driving in a mirror, sitting on the wrong side of the car, and everyone driving on the wrong side of the road  not to mention all the signs being in Italian (how thoughtless of them  ) ...but the speed people drove at, and all the narrow laneways that nobody seemed to see a need to show caution in even though it was two-way traffic, really freaked me out. I always struggled with going around roundabouts the 'other' way as well. Ok, probably they were the good drivers and it was me who wasn't. 
The other mad drivers are rent-a-car staff. So used to parking cars in tightly packed rows that cutting close to other cars ceases to register as a potential danger to them anymore. I have a few friends who work in that industry and they are scary to be a passenger with. | |

1) Drink driving
2) Hoons (people doing burnouts or drag races along the road)
3) People beeping inappropriately
4) Road rage attacks and offences
5) Being cut off
6) Cyclists (quite often the worst road users)
7) People driving too slowly
8) People who run red traffic lights | |

Hands-down right here in Jakarta. There are literally NO RULES!
Give way to the right, or anyone for that matter? Forget it. Driving the wrong way down a one way street? Sure. Driving within the the lanes? Who are you kidding? Millions of cars and a complete and absolute free-for-all.
I learned my lesson the hard way the first time I wend to use a pedestrian crossing. NOBODY STOPS. They come straight at you and you have to dodge. You signal to make a left hand turn in a car and at least a dozen 2-stroke motorbikes have overtaken you on the INSIDE by the time you've reached the corner.
They are all mad, It's a pleasure everytime I get back to Sydney.
Oh, and every single person over here just rides the car horn! | |

Road monitors... those who pull out in front of faster cars to slow them down
People who take a month of Sundays to turn a corner without moving over to allow other traffic to get past...
Donor drivers... under 25's who think they own the road and are impervious to speed limits
oh and volvo drivers wearing fishing hats or just having fishing stickers lol | |

When I caught up and started overtaking him, I noticed he had a girl arond 8 or 9 years old asleep on his lap with her arms wrapped around his neck. I couldnt help but yell at the fool. There is no excuse for that on the main freeway to the coast. | |

But indicating is voluntary in Australia isn't it? And indicators are an optional extra with most cars? My bad.
The worst driver has to be my mother. She took my son to school once and when he came home he said that grandma had driven UP a freeway exit ramp and then had to quickly reverse back down it. To compound her crime she told my son not to tell me. Yikes! | |
