Ici une toute cette fois I bien qu'il y ait eu seulement trois langues de l'amour. En français.Parole di amore parlate in italiano. Y mi favorito, palabras del amor habladas en español. But seeing as I am not fluently quadrilingual, much less quintilingual, I stick to simple English. Bon Chance.

Have fun ;)!

Oh....I suspect you walked right by me in the Barnes and Noble on Clark St. when my head was buried in the book in favor of checking out the guy at the magazine rack who was busy looking at the pictures in the latest issue of MAXIM!!!

Ah yes...

More popular psycho babble drivel...anyone that tries to analyze, clarify, classify, and pigeon hole my into a nice little cubbyhole...kindly kick yourself to the curb, it isn't worth me wasting my time.

Pigeon holing, labelling...call it what you want, its a load a crap.

this guy spoke on our local npr station last week. penn state hosted him for a broadcast on campus.

despite his background, he made lots of sense and i actually played around with the idea of starting a thread about the 5 languages. so, thanks for taking the initiative, op.

i might actually read the guy's books.

Just wanted you to know that there is at least one guy out here that read the book. It was an eye opener as to how we each give and receive love. I have read other books as well that are also very eye opener on the relational subject. Certainly there is not relationship 101 in school. Pretty sad when our lives are a series of one relationship or another.
I would also like to add that the author has also written other "love languages" books. One is for kids, one is for teens, and one is for singles. While they all have the same central theme, they are target specific. It is amazing how the expression of love to a child is going to be in some ways different than that of a teenager.
All in all each of the books teaches you some thing worth learning.

There is a massive difference between what this poster said and real wisdom.

"When your spouse's emotional love tank is full and he feels secure in your love, the whole world looks right and your spouse will move out to reach his highest potential in life. But when the love tank is empty and he feels used but not loved, the whole world looks dark and he will likely never reach his potential for good in the world."

There is nothing at all wrong with being able to meet the needs of your significant other, and have them meet yours. Having someone point out a good way to do it, is helpful at the very least. This book does not classify or catagorize, it reveals information you may find useful.

"psycho babble"

You'd be surprised what you can learn from other people and their experience. That's what books are for. When you went to school, did you call the information in the text books "education babble" by any chance and ridicule the school system for using books to teach? Just curious-babble.

Anyway, I had read the book some time ago, and did put it into practice and the results were amazing.

I know that I feel like I am BEING loving when I perform 'Acts of Service' - it's how I feel most comfortable - but I'm not sure which type I am when it comes to receiving love.

Physical touch plays a big part in it but no matter how clumsy I am at times I like the physical touch to be more of a graceful dance between my lover and myself -- not too much and not too little...just naturally flowing together I guess.

Yet sometimes when I try to picture that type of feat actually being accomplished I think of the song lyrics "there ain't no Coupe de Ville hiding in the bottom of a Cracker Jack Box" [Meatloaf].

I am in the process of reading it but so far it is a great book and I wish I had heard about this a long time ago or when it first came out.
My best friend recently got re-married and before the pastor would marry them he told them to both read this book.

I have read it. I have also read the other sequel. "The Five Love Languages of Children". I made it clear why my son and daughter do things differently, are motived differently.

It allows me to be a better parent IMHO.

This is the most influential book I have read (aside from THE Book). It helps in relationships of all kinds, not just between a man and a woman. I tell everyone I know about this book, it's nice to see others are reading it! It teaches to love unselfishly...to love the way other person needs love....They now have it for teens as well pouyqwert...

I have read many of the relationship books out there . This is without a doubt one of the best.

I have even been able to talk to my children about the love languages and the way they receive love.

I see the love languages expressed in my relationship with my boyfriend. We happen to be very fortunate in that we speak the same languages as primary and secondary.
That is not the norm, and it makes things easier for us because we meet each others needs and our own needs at the same time . Our top two are qualilty time and physical touch.

Its also fun when you see them display the minor languages too. I think all five languages are spoken when you are in the honeymoon phase of your relationship. I checked this our from the library but I have considered making a purchase. It was very useful information.
