| What do you girls think about guys with guns?
Posted: 3/14/2006 3:54:32 PM | Guns are not dangerous, people make them dangerous. I grew up around guns my entire life.
My father was a sniper in the Marines while he was in the Vietnam was. He taught me everything I need to know about guns and other hunting and fishing. I even went through the police academy and hell could shoot better than over half of the guys in the class. And oh yea my FAVORITE is the 12 guage and no Im not afraid to use it. | |

If a guy is holding a gun in his profile photo, it's not a tool for him, it's a symbol. It's like showing your car. He's either wacked, or compensating for other things that are missing (or unusually small  ). | |

Well, this isn't all cases, but i think it's someone trying to portray the badboy image, and not doing it well.
I have been around people that brag about having guns, and then you start asking detailed questions about the gun (believe it or not guns come with options like a car does), and the person bragging about it doesn't know anything about it. At that point it's a status symbol, not a tool. They think more of it as a toy.
I wouldn't make a point of posting anything i own in a profile picture. I got toys, i got a lot of them, but i don't feel the need to show matierialistic things in order to capture someone's attention. | |

Posted: 3/14/2006 6:57:48 PM | | i own eight guns. an sks, two mosin nagants, a glock .40, a 12 gauge, a .410 shotgun, and two 30 30s. not once have i ever pointed these weappons in anger at anybody. i've never taken a picture of myself with them either. it's just a hobby and to a certain extent gives me a feeling of security knowing that i can fight back against miscreants. i've been robbed and have a had a loaded .38 barrell pressed against my temple. that ain't ever gonna happen again. so, i don't care what a girl thinks about my simple hobby. that's a non-issue. if and when, if more likely, i do find the right woman, to calm her fears, they will be locked up and hidden. nobody will ever know about them. however, that being said, i will never ever again put myself at the mercy of criminals. i could have died that day. but thanks be to my lord it wasn't my time to go. that was back in 1986. so now that you've seen the thoughts of a gun owning male, what do you think ladies? you know, i really don't care. i'll always be armed in many situations. that's what i do for a living... | |

If I did have a gun, especially that s-mart top of the line Ash is holding, I'd definitely dress up like that and pose in the exact same manner for my main picture. The gun's presence would indeed be a symbol, a symbol for how awesome I am. | |

Posted: 3/15/2006 8:00:59 AM | I look at is as simply an expression of an interest. Obviously if the person is dressed in gang colors and holding his "gat" that is a different story.
A picture of someone holding a gun would tell me the person is probably a firearms enthusiast. If that person was holding a baseball bat at the batting cage or a chef's knive over a cutting board, I would infer nothing from that either. But both baseball bats and knives are used to commit murder and mayhem as well.
Unreasonable fear of inanimate objects makes me wonder about someone's level of maturity | |

Posted: 3/15/2006 1:21:46 PM | my next guns are going to be: ruger 10/22, remington m700 30.06, glock 27 .40, kimber or springfield 1911 .45., naa 22 lr revolver, sw 38 revolver, ruger .357 sp101, ruger gp100 .357, bushmaster ar 15 5.56 mm, remington super mag 12 gauge, sw or ruger 22 revolver, springfield m1a .308, another yugo sks, and 1 more mosin nagant m44 rifle. that should put me at a total of 22 firearms! all nice and tucked away in the gun safes. i know that kkat hates hunters and all. but don't really care as i love to hunt and kill bambi. i love eating wild animals and their meat. yummy. oh and kkat i love crossbows too!. all of this thread has been a pretty stupid topic btw but i guess that makes me stupid for contributing to it. | |

Posted: 3/15/2006 4:57:33 PM | I grew up in a teeny tiny town where the first day of hunting season is one of the "skip days" at school (the first day of fishing season is the other). Everyone has shotuns in their closets and one of the biggest pasttimes is shooting beer cans off of the back step. I've gone hunting more than once...I refuse to shoot anything on 4 legs, but I hate birds, so I love hunting partridge.
So a guy who has guns can be a turn on for me, as long he lets me play with them. | |

I hate hunters
I enjoy shooting but not hunting. Also like the idea of being able to defend myself should the need arise. Like others have stated its not the gun itself that's the problem but the person behind it. | |
