Casino Royale, bad (Bond actually told some woman he loved her, and that killed it for me) 4 of 10
Deck the Halls very very bad (holding up their cell phones like we used to hold up our lighters at rock concerts and then breaking into song... Lame!!!!!!!) 2 of 10
Babel very good, thought provoking, will probably strike a cord for people with children. 9 of 10
rented: RV... I like Robin Williams, but the movie was only worth a 4 of 10, had some fun watching movie out-takes you wouldn't see in the theatre. Had to get up and walk away from the cornball bits, too predictable.
Edison Force... too violent for me, lots of shooting, Justin Timberlake's character was weak; always like Morgan Freeman in anything at all, his polish rises above shabby scripting; Kevin Spacey's part could have been better; was surprised how well LL CoolJ did, I liked his character! Still worth a 7.
Over the Hedge... alright, another 5 of 10. Shatner's possum was funny, and Bruce Willis did the voice for the coon.

Here's a quote from the film, spoken by a pre-colonial Mayan warrior, that pretty sums my thoughts on Mad Mel and his latest... "He's f*cked."
If you've seen the trailer, you've seen the best of this film.

| What is the last movie you've seen in the theatre or vid...? Posted: 12/29/2006 9:56:53 AM | Casino Royale What the fuck? Timelines were all messed up and that ruined the movie for me. I couldnt figure out what was going on and when it was supposed to take place. This was supposed to be the "first Bond movie, when bond was an amateur", but its taking place in 2005 or 2006? The movie clearly states the years by making reference to the 9-11 terrorist attacks, and countless cell phones the size of my thumb. In the first movies.. a cell phone was considered a high tech bond gadget!! If the timelines werent so messed up, it woulda fit perfectly into the series of Bond movies, as it clearly explains why he shtoops every chic he can, but never keeps one around.
7 / 10 cuz I love the PPk 9mm pistol that he was using :P
Blood Diamond I hate DiCaprio, but that was a biased opinion because every chic loved him in Titanic and didnt love me :( Honestly, the last half dozen movies hes done have made me suck it up and admit hes got some talent. Blood Diamond follows suit. Story line really gets you involved, and his character always has you wondering whats going to happen with the precious diamond. Great flic, catch it in the cheap seats if you can.
7 / 10 - one point was lost immediately when I saw decaprio attempt to use US military hand signals.. and didnt even come close to getting them right ;)
Eragon Went to see it for the CG, Im a sucker for dragons, nevermind seeing them come to life on the big screen. Unfortunatly, the CG was the only decent thing about this movie. Yeah, you all say it was written by a 17 year old... well, it shows. it shows VERY VERY CLEARLY that a kid wrote this. The story line was predictable, slow, and overall had some pretty bad acting. Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich were the only redeeming factors about the movie, and Malkovich barely says a word in the movie!
4 / 10 - and all 4 points are for the amazing CG on the dragon.
Rocky Balboa
Tonnes of mixed reviews over this one. Its not your standard Rocky movie, thats for sure. A LOT of time was spent on the events leading to the big fight, the relationships between Rocky and his family / friends. etc. I enjoyed the movie immensely, and to top it off, the fight between Rocky and Dixon was exactly how I hoped it would have gone. Im definatly adding this movie to my collection when the DVD comes out. (proud owner of all Rocky DVDs, thanks Chantelle!)
8 / 10 - woulda been higher if the fight lasted a bit longer.
The Good Sheppard
well, uhmm, I have tonnes of respect for DeNiro, but really he should stay in the acting business. The movie was insanely long, VERY hard to follow, and wasnt really that interesting at all. The subplot: the personal life and love interests of Matt Damon was more interesting than the events surrounding the CIA and what not. Go figure..
5.5 / 10 simply because I was able to see past the lameness and learn something about the CIA and American History.
Yeah, I go to the theaters a lot.. im a sucker for the big screen.

I loved this delightful film about life and death, compassion and justice, love of family and the unspoken bond between women.

Last movie I saw was Blood Diamond. Overall I thought it was very good, but the romantic subplot with Jennifer Connolly was a bit out of place. As for the military hand signals, DiCaprio's character was a South African soldier and later a mercenary under the leadership of a South African officer...perhaps their signals differ from the U.S.? In any event, give them back the point for using a Russian attack helicopter which would be more authentic given the locale.

Happy Feet...just gotta dance...
My daughter asked me at the end of the movie what I thought the true meaning about this animated film was about.....my first intial response was .....we need to be more aware of how we are wasting our natural resources and damaging the food chain....as in the movie...the fish were being caught by the millions leaving the Penguins to die off....
Daughter says to me...well ya I guess so....but really Mom it was about daring to be different and to be happy about who you are....

Did anybody who saw the movie "Pirates of the Carribean 2" stay until AFTER the credits were finished? There is another short scene which involves the dog.........

Very well done over all. Lots of attention to the small things, which IMO makes a movie that much better. Michael Caine, as per usual, does an amazing job in his role. (Pull my finger, cmon!). Not gonna spoil any of it, just gonna say that this was well worth paying for.

A great looking film, with an engaging plot and full of superb performances all round... and quite thought-provoking. I needed a little help filling in some of the blanks afterward (Wikipedia has some great info on the film if one's not inclined to read the P.D. James novel on which it's based) but thought it was quite stellar!
I concur with zekks's assessment and rate it 8 1/2 pot-smoking political activists out of 10.
