| date shows up wearing sweats... Posted: 3/16/2006 9:42:44 PM | I agree with Felinessa with respect to men in well tailored suits. Men in suits are hot
Sweats are for the gym or hanging around at home, not for a first date.

| date shows up wearing sweats... Posted: 3/17/2006 12:12:54 AM | Most of my first dates have been mutually agreed denim clad ones.
That means dressing nicely, but casually. The first time together should be a relaxed easy few hours just spent in discovering one another.
But sweats ?
Sorry... | |

I would have told him up front that you would go with him to his house to change his clothes into something equal to what you were wearing. Put the rules up front dear.
Guys like it when they get to take their clothes off on the first date and you being in the same room as them - well, that could lead to trouble. What am I saying . . . . could???

| date shows up wearing sweats... Posted: 3/17/2006 7:31:30 AM | Some men don't think....................
We think way too much about what we are gonna wear... what will they think... will they like it..... blah blah blah
I probably wouldn't have said anything...... but it could have been a deal breaker for me!!!! LOL

| date shows up wearing sweats... Posted: 3/17/2006 2:56:35 PM | I had a gorgeous guy show up for a first date in sweat pants.
Didn't go anywhere, but not because of the sweats.
|
| date shows up wearing sweats... Posted: 3/17/2006 6:15:01 PM | Speedos? They can look fine on a trim fit guy, but I've noticed that the larger the guy the more likely he is wearing speedos.
Once I was on Block Island, and the beauty of the place was marred by this HUGE man with a hairy body and a tiny Speedo lying in the sun like a giant beached whale---eeeewwww! (shudder)

| date shows up wearing sweats... Posted: 3/17/2006 6:42:22 PM | | If you're talking frumpy, baggy "sweats", that's one thing.. if you're talking "tracksuit/lounge-suit" that's another. Alot of trendy tracksuits/lounge-suits cost more than an Armani suit... and personally, if that's his comfort zone, then so be it. Don't want him telling me what to wear, therefore I wouldn't tell him. Why "sweat" (pun intended) the small stuff? | |
|
| date shows up wearing sweats... Posted: 3/17/2006 6:45:51 PM | I only wear sweats around the house or if I have to run to the store or something like that. I don't wear them on a date or out because it just isn't socially acceptable and women feel like you don't care about impressing them if you dress like that.
However, to be honest, I would wear them all the time if it were acceptable and I will tell you why. The are the most comfortable pants made, my butt looks good in them, my penis looks larger in them, they are cheap, and in sweats there is no activity restriction.
Pretend that sweats were acceptable in any situation. You finish your nice dinner and on your way to the movie or club you notice the moon is full and you pass by a park with a lake that has a public swimming area that is closed at night. The wine at dinner has put you both in the mood for some adult playtime and the thought of skinny dipping at a place your not supposed to be gets your blood pumping.
So are you going to sneak through the woods and scale a fence in your fancy pants and shiny shoes? I think not.
Perhaps one day I won't need to keep a pair of sweats in the car.

| date shows up wearing sweats... Posted: 3/18/2006 8:32:19 AM | | I definitely think sweats on date are horribly wrong but I don't see anything wrong with wearing sweats in public. I wear them on the weekends when I go to Target, get groceries, etc. I want to be comfortable as I clean house and do my million errands so why not. Who do I need to impress? And *gasp* If I go to the movies with friends sometimes I do wear sweats. Especially if it's at night and its cold. I don't need to be dressed to the 9's all time. As long as I'm clean, teeth are brushed, and my hair is combed whats the big deal? | |
|
| date shows up wearing sweats... Posted: 3/18/2006 9:24:47 AM | | Unless a first date includes cycling, tennis...forget it. You said sweats and thong sandles? Nope never. | |
|
| date shows up wearing sweats... Posted: 3/18/2006 9:37:46 AM | I have been dating a guy who has never worn anything but shorts and t-shirt when we are together. And some of these shorts are boxers - that is, underwear worn as outerwear!
But he is funny, sweet, kind and smart, so I live with it. (But I did tease him about the boxers with chimpanzees on them.)

| date shows up wearing sweats... Posted: 3/18/2006 11:55:07 AM | Hulahoney, unless he's from upcountry - he sure ain't a local boy. Canadian would be my guess! Last i remember - no one wears sweats in maui! Not a 'dater' here, but is it out of line to pre-confirm dress code? Isn't it either agreed upon in advance or dictated by the destination? Sounds like a total lack of communication to me. - and if you can't agree on that, what about other expectations, like appropriate behavior and personal boundaries! | |
