As long as they are clean. First of all , is it a first date or did you go out with the person a few times. If it was a first date, I don't even consider that a date. I call that the interview process. I think some women get so hung up on their first date, making a "false" good impression and getting a free meal. I've met men who were dressed to the nines with dirt under their fingernails. I've met men who had dirt stains on their shirts. UGH !!!!! Now that's a turn off, I'll take sweats anytime. If he's cute, neat and clean. Then he's for me. | |

Anyways, I walked outside and walked passed this guy eh, because I didn't think it would be him. This guy was standing wearing sweat pants. In my head as I walked passed him was "I hope this is not the guy, omg, omg, omg!...I know we were just going for a walk but he could have at least tried. Not only was he wearing sweat pants, his hair looked as if he had not combed it in days and he had sprayed so much cologne. OMG..I cut that walk very short, let me tell you and I never spoke to him again...(he was a good looking guy but he so needed to try..)  | |

Posted: 6/25/2007 2:53:15 PM | I guess it would really depend on where you were going on your date or what you were doing before. I showed up for my second date with my ex in sweats. I had rugby practice on a cold day in the park he always walks his dog in. When he found out about this, he asked if it would be cool if he met me there after practice and we could go for a walk with his dog then go grab some coffee or something. In that case, I didn't see a problem with it. And if he had a problem with my sweats, too bad. What am I supposed to do, grab a shower and change into dress pants? Or maybe I could play in dress pants? He thought it was hot though so it's all good.
On a side note, I had a guy ask me the other day what I would wear if he took me to a bomber game (for those of you who don't know, the bombers are the local CFL team, which is the canadian equivalent to the NFL, only not quite as good or as popular). I said that assuming it was a typical July game, where it's +30 and humid out (about 86 or so fahrenheit) probably a nice t-shirt, baseball hat, sunglasses, board shorts, and skate shoes, and I'd probably bring a hoodie in case it got cold after the sun set (games usually start at 7:30 at night). He sent me an e-mail back saying that's not appropriate and he'd hope I could dress up a little bit for him. At least wear capris, heels and nice jewelery. Hello? It's a football game! I don't think I've ever been to a game where I haven't had beer spilled on me (well except when I sit in the alcohol free family zone, then you get kids spilling juice on you).
I'm a super casual person anyways. Dressing up to me is a nice pair of jeans and a nice shirt. I have dress pants and nice dresses I can wear to fancy restaurants but I generally hang out at places where jeans are perfectly fine.
And to be honest, I'd rather my date be comfortable and a little under dressed than be uncomfortable and overdressed. | |

Obviously you haven't paid attention to Fashion TV. Did you know that you can pay over $200 for a pair of jeans????? I guess if you live in Hollywood, $400 for a pair of Jeans , $1300 for your Jimmy choos and another $800 for your handbag are just another day in la la land.
Denim is a fashion statement. If you walk into any Ambercombrie and Fitch shop, you'll notice that worn out and torn ain't cheap either. | |

The only time I've left the house in sweats and my un-mentionable was after I had surgery and any type of clothing pressed on my wounds. Only one ever saw was the dr.
Guess it depends on where you live or you just have that you dont give a damn what people think. My neighbor always took his garbage out in his boxers and wife beater t-shirt. I'd have enjoyed the view if he wasn't fat,smelly, a raging alcoholic. Oh did I mention he was like 75 y/o
