It's not the end of the world, but it can be difficult from a very early age. 4% of the world pop is redheaded and 2% of the US. We were born to stand out in a crowd, but we're usually picked on regularly. It can damage the old self-esteem. As an adult it can get more difficult. We're not "tall, dark and handsome", but rather average, pink and cute. And that's still not bad! If I start to feel sorry for myself, I remember a friend of mine that's been in a wheel chair since birth. She's a great person, with a great attitude - thank God she's not redheaded too! Just joking, but it could always be worst. However, redheaded males don't get the positive sexual overtones females do. We're usually depicted as nerds rather than passionate lovers. Perhaps you women that've been with a redheaded male lover KNOW the passion isn't gender specific. All in all, the odds are against us redheaded males - that's a fact! But it could always be worst - that's a fact too!
The thing that gets me is hearing the complaints of women about men being egotistical users. Yet, the only thing they go for is the tall, dark and handsome. Well of course they're egotistical, women have been coming at them in droves since forever (and yes, the barbie dolls are just as disappointing). Why don't you try a guy that has learned to base his self-esteem on something more than his looks - say maybe a redhead!
That's all I have to say about that.

Posted: 1/15/2007 2:52:51 PM | | Over the summer, I talked to someone whom I hadn't seen in a couple of years...a redhead whom I used to work with and after he left the company, we hooked up as FWB for a while. He asked me if back then if I ever thought about us as more than FWB? To be honest? I never did--I thought he wouldn't take a relationship serious 'cuz he always joking around...he said he had but he was too scared to ask me---I kind of regret that I said no then, but.....on the other hand, I'm so happy with my SC now, I can't imagine being with anyone but him now.

Hey, my ex BF had a fantastic, full head of red hair, and he's 51 years old. IMO, it's pretty darn awesome to me and sexy! I loved running my fingers thru his hair.
Look OP - you've gotta love who you are. What's ironic in the dating scene, is folks will put a certain height, weight, race, or other attributes as a requirement. Then, they will meet the "love" of their life who differs from those requirements. Things just tend to sneak up on us when we aren't looking.

I have a whole LOT of things I would be picky about.. but one of isn't the color of the man's hair !!!.... If that is the case, if I were you, I wouldn't worry about it. Who wants anyone so pick hair color is going to make the difference with the love of your life? MY problem is I discriminate against married men ! lololol

| You think YOU have it tough?? Try being a redheaded guy! Posted: 2/7/2007 11:51:21 PM | I myself am not 'Tall, Dark and Handsome' either, but instead,
I myself am 'Tall, FAIR, and Handsome'
Anyhow, back to your point, my best mate is a true redhead, and was dateless for about 15 years. I agree that most women do prefer darker features in guys, but I am quite proud of my fair complexion, and have absolutely no desire to wish I was darker.
My redheaded mate has just recently found a nice girlfriend, who thinks the absolute world of him, she is head over heels with him. So when the right one comes along mate, she won't care about your complexion.
In reality, women will look at the whole package, so keep your chin up mate.

| I have looked for years for my perfect man... Posted: 5/13/2007 8:37:05 PM | I have a list of characteristics that I'm hoping he will have... and the top of the list is the red hair...I want the tall, burly kilt-wearing viking with the strong hands and flaming red hair... ( i never fail to notice a redheaded man...and think that every one of them is unique and hot) Not like just any man...when i was growing up...all my girlfriends were in love with Fonzie and Potsy...but I got weak in the knees for Ritchie and Ralph...especially Ralph oh my god...i'm getting flushed just thinking about him.. | |

| You think YOU have it tough?? Try being a redheaded guy! Posted: 5/18/2007 9:10:50 AM | I had blonde hair until I joined the military. When they shaved my head....it grew back red. When my hair was short and red, few girls showed any interest. But once it got long...it's a bit of a different story. I have learned too call my hair color "auburn", trying to deny the "red headed stepchild" stigmata, but it's really red. I didn't get all the freckles though, and I can tan nicely. I guess it's the Comanche blood.
