My personal opinion on the ladies playing games is GOOD!! I am still trying to really get my girl into games, right now it's only the racing games on console .. she can't seem to get the hang of the good ol' mouse n keyboard combo ... I would personally shit a brick of happiness if my lady wanted to jump onto the computer and join me in some games :D ... ESPECIALLY if she could keep up in a heated game of Halo, or even something a little older for training like the Serious Sam series. But as for in your case man, if it's really ragging on ya, then maybe you need to let her know you feel like her online family is more important .. but at the same time, she does have a right to play - just let her know you need some time too - moderation is the key

hey all,
i know everyone has their own opinions on the whole gaming issue but as u can see im a gal and i do play video games and mite i say only the really really really cool ones like Resident evil ;) but on the same token when im with someone i dont play them to the point that my partner is being neglected either.....it comes down to the individual person i guess it boils down to if something ur partner is doing is causing troubles with the relationship and u have tried talking to them about it and they still insist on doing the same thing without coming to a compromise then maybe thats an indication that ur partner doesnt have respect for ur relationship???
I think there should be more girls getting in2 video games but im bias lol

...and that's the point, no word of a lie she is 25 and spent 20hrs+ on the stupid thing last weekend.

Dude, that is like a sickness! I mean, I like to play games and all, but 20 hrs in two days!? I can play maybe 2 hours (3 if its a REALLY good game) then I get bored and won't play for few days, and that's assuming I have nothing else better to do.

Just run away!

I play Xbox so that when my son is a teenager I'll still be welcome to hang out...

That's my story and I'm sticking to it...

Oh ... raids .. that must be World of Warcraft ... my closest friend is now a stranger because of getting sucked into that game and having no willpower to walk away from it. He missed several important events because his guild had raids planned.

Simple enough ... anything in moderation.

I like gaming .. I play PS2, when I have free time. (just finished a game, actually lol) I like my tycoon games on the PC .. when I have free time. I even thief my sons gameboy to play the odd game .. when I have free time. When real life gets pushed to the backseat for a virtual reality, then it's time to reconfigure your priorities.

I might add that MMO "abuse" is quickly becoming a serious addiction. I live in Seattle, and I know of quite a few companies that won't hire people who play them because said people are more prone to being sick, being sleepy on the job, and calling in sick altogether just to play more.

I admit I am a former MMO addict, I went crazy on WoW and in September I went cold turkey. So far so good, no more WoW for me.

I refuse to buy WoW, because those games are literally heroin to me. I would end up single.

Hahaha, funny because its true. I try only to play when its a social thing, with more than one person playing, otherwise its bye-bye life. Ever try that Rome: Total War? I had to give it away. Just one more turn, one more hour, next thing its morning, and I'm at work running on an hour of sleep, daydreaming of how to conquer Rome. No more. Oh man I feel the itch again. Where's the number of my sponsor?

#51: "I see nothing wrong with people who game, however I will not date someone who plays online games such as EQ and WoW. I can sit and play XBOX with my SO and we can pause at anytime. I have no problems with console games, arcade games and even most computer games, however online games are way too time consuming. If someone plays MMORPG, I will not date them. "
Alright, so you'd not date someone who had a solitary hobby that you couldn't share with them and have it full of variety? How about the SO who's hobby is power tools in the shed, just as one example?

So what you're saying is that 'quiet time' away from you is not acceptable? Granted, i've pretty much laid out my points in post #31, including the 'escapist' mentality that's diametrically opposed to the moderate 'hobby' context i'm outlining in this particular post. But, still, one cannot simply write someone off because they've been tainted with the mmog bug.

Of course, it would be a red flag in my book as well. Just as people who like to drink alchohol is. Does that affect my friendships? no, not unless the drunkards become aggro or morbid. Happy drunks i can deal with; Moderate mmog 'hobbyists' i can deal with as well. (sociopathic internet junkies who treat real life as an unwelcome distraction need not apply)

A girl that loves Resident Evil, man this is just amazing.

*Falls in love again*

I think girls or anyone that plays video games are a lot more open, and cool and easier to talk too.

Maybe it's just me?

Its not just you. But maybe its because you have a common interest, a basis to start a conversation:).
