| Does anyone else here pay attention to the backgrounds of the profile pics? Posted: 3/17/2006 9:37:33 PM | Has anyone ever noticed how many men have backgrounds in their pictures that virtually scream, "I was decorated by a woman!"
I realize that there could be many reasons for it, but the two that leap to mind are: 1) there's a woman in his life, or 2) he lives with his mother.

Does anyone else look beyond the pic of the person?
I do
Both of mine were taken with web cams at two different homes -- neither at my home. I suppose I could take a few better photos, just never seem to get around to it. Besides, the ones posted are exactly how I look every day. .

The person holding alcohol in every scene...surrounded by nothing but party themes whether it be on the beach, a bar, dorm room, etc., does throw up a red flag. Their intentions may not be that, but nonetheless, its indicated. Similiar scenes photographed in New Orleans are excused. You know what you must do in that town. Party on dudes!!
Scenes around alot of glitz, expensive cars, damn near castle like homes, jewelry that could anchor a small fleet, evening gowns, etc., might indicate I'd best have won the lottery in order to maintain the quality of life behind the person. Or in contrast, those background shots of high society just might indicative of the last divorce settlement...still a red flag. The next best thing to a 'professional victim'. That might put me in the catagory of having nothing but alcohol in my hand as well after I'm the next one who's been taken to the cleaners.
And finally, nice, busty, leggy, tons of skin exposed lying back on a chase lounge, yet will claim "you can touch with your eyes, but you can't look with your fingers", seems to be indicative of a conflicting way of life. Penthouse photos yet Seminary attitude. I'm so confused to the point I'll be in therapy for years!
All of the above can be easily excused however....if getting to know that person will get me tickets to the next "Blue Collar Tour", I'll consider lowering my standards.

Posted: 3/18/2006 6:44:56 AM | Well, 'working girl' I do, I've always had an eye for details and believe it or not, it was an invaluable asset throughout my life. One can deduct so many details that help put more pieces into the mosaic of a person in question. But then a good stage manager can manufacture a truly convincing legend. Hollywood fantasies (which could turn out to be a prince or a frog - and there's nothing wrong with a frog, by the way, as long as you're honest about it, and are surrounded by other frogs) are the order of the day on websites as well as TV. Window dressing is still a successful way of selling trash, even in the UK. The proof of the pudding - as we say in little ol' England - is in the eating. Perhaps it stems from my liking of observing people wherever I found myself in the world.
Plus here on PoF, their profiles, their posts (I know it could be time consuming) but hey - there are not that many people of interest to me

| Does anyone else here pay attention to the backgrounds of the profile pics? Posted: 3/18/2006 7:43:32 AM | | Hey WG, I definitely notice the background - and like many here who've mentioned it, I'm shocked by some of the backgrounds. Who in their right mind would take a pic with piles of dirty laundry and dirty dishes and crap in the background? However, that being said, I do appreciate getting the 'heads up' that this is how the dude "lives" and it's obviously no biggie to him - an appreciated tip-off that we'd never be a match because I'm not into grubby slobs who take no pride in their homes and who don't mind living in a garbage dump. | |

I find it amazing that SOME people post pictures of themselves surrounded in filth, but maybe that's because I myself am sort of a "Neat Freak" lol. These people need to clean up or at least learn to use the damn crop tool. Nothing worse then seeing someones anal gel sitting on the kitchen table in a pile of filth. LMAO As for the fancy sports cars, yatchs etc in the background.... I'm not impressed

Posted: 3/18/2006 12:45:19 PM | More questionable to me is the pictures that don't reveal the truth about the pictured - like mentioned before. Women flaunting their sexuality and proclaiming they don't want guys out for an easy lay. People hiding behind pictures of cats and dogs or other drawings.
Imagine going out to a public place and meeting people with masks infront of their faces...
everyone's poop stinks, guess it's just a matter of whether they put it in its place and wash their hands afterwords.

Clutter really doesn't flatter anyone, does it?? I had a profile review forum for quite sometime, and that was one of my frequent suggestions to my "clients"... take new pictures without clutter - and for heaven's sake, clean your house!
