But, for the most part, there is definitely something sexy in 40+ men. Never did see the appeal in the older women with much younger men syndrome.
Maybe by having posted this, those 20 something guys that keep sending me messages will stop and just let it go. Mrs. Robinson does not live at my house.

So, what exactly is the draw of older men for younger women? What constitutes a younger women?
Being a newly single father and having moved to a new state for a new job, I have had trouble reinteigrating into the dating scene after 15 yrs off the market. Have i just been looking at the wrong demographic then? Should I expand my range from 32 to 38 to something wider? How much younger is too young?
Thanks for listenting. I know there is a valid question in there and I am glad to see so many people involved in these forums.

I sure hope I'm attractive to a younger woman, preferably the same women I find attractive... on the same continent... same country... 
At one time I've dated 16 yrs younger, she was 21, and I've dated three yrs older, she was 45. I've found that for my lifestyle I prefer a woman with a "young" mindset and approach to life, easy going but responsible at the same time. Both the 21yr old and the 45yr old woman possessed these qualities. My preference does tend to lean towards a woman who is physically younger then I am, they may be more apt to have or like young children and enjoy an active lifestyle in the outdoors.

But in actuality I think it depends on the guy and on the woman. If your a fat slob and over 40...well it doesn't matter what gender you are...chnces are the opposite sex is not going to be attracted to you no matter what your age is 18-80.
If the guy has taken care of himself, has his life together at least sorta, and isn't a stick in the mud then chances are good that a younger woman will be attracted to him depending on what she is looking for. I think there are other factors besides age that play into it.

Depends on "how much younger". I don't mind a 10 year gap. Beyond that I have to think about the future. I would like to remain compatible when we get into out ripe old ages. I certain don't approve of an Anna Nicole Smith situation.
A man in his 40's is usually at his peak with regards to maturity & career while still maintaining his physical vitality and sex appeal. I can still play hockey with guys ½ my age and I play better now than when I was younger, Lets face it a person that is attractive is plain and simply attractive, no matter what the age. Sometimes it is a combination of genes, great personality and hard work. | |

I turn 37 soon and I learned that looking young* is an added ingredient. The confidence you have in yourself is more important. Others see(and are attracted to) confidence, period.
It was only a week ago that a young woman(22-23) was putting the moves on me but part of me feels sorta guilty about it. My mom tells me that will change soon though haha.
Sorry if this post appreared as a "me me me" chant, what I am getting at is that the OP is right. For any guys who are feeling pessimistic about the art of attraction, consider the following.
-Take care of yourself(skin, diet, hair, mentality)
-Avoid the Sun if you can(do you find looking at prematurely wrinkly women attractive?)
-Get out of your teenage style(ex: some 30-40 year olds around here still wear the same hairstyle/clothing style as if it was 1986!)
-Shoes. Women will probably not take you seriously if you wear $25 $hitkickers.
I've heard many times over the years life begins at 40. No comment but I hope the bowl is 1/2 full anyway.

the last man I dated was 17 years older then me. That was only last year.
This is very encouraging to us 'older' men, coco, until I look at your profile and see you do not allow contact from men who are over 45. That's really a shame because . . it takes a lot of time to create a diamond

I have dated younger and older to over the years and found no dirrerence when the age is not an issue (17 years younger to 9 years older ) . Now that I have reached forty I hope that half of what I read on here holds at least some partial truth. But as stated earlier .. it's not the age ( thats just a number ) but how you think. Thinking young draws on itself. I have met some wonderful ladies in thier late 40's and early 50's who at first I would not have put anywhere near thier age.

Didn't hurt that she was drop dead gorgeous... guys my age don't hear that very often , so when it does happen gotta suck it all in...

I turned "four oh no" this year. And I'm attracted to women of all ages. But in the last 5 years the younger women have been really catching my attention. Possibly, because I feel I have more in common with them. But it seems like a powerful attraction, so maybe it's some sort of biological drive. When I was younger, it was completely the opposite, the older women held my attention! And they taught me well!

Posted: 4/21/2006 10:47:18 PM | | 40! is nothing...lol my brothers almost 40 and looks no older than 30 and one of my training partners at the gym is 50 and keeps up with 25 year olds and has been bodybuilding for 35 years... if you take care of yourself, dont smoke, no heavy drugs, ease the stress in your life, worry less, dont 'abuse; alcohol, and exercise, you will look great for your age, take care of the machine! | |

I can understand family situations and being in a life having to take care of kids and aging parents, but if you have to have permission to date someone from parents, you are in the wrong universe in my opinion.......

As I approach 40, I find myself viewing all different aged men, from younger to a little bit older. I do draw the line at around 45yrs of age. I'm not sure why, but I think it's because I'm still very young at heart and don't look my age (nor act it..lol) and I want that other someone to feel the same as I do. Young minded and free-spirted, out-going and adventurous. I definately don't like too younger of a man. In my opinion they are just looking for teachers, and my teaching days are over. :-)
