Posted: 2/9/2009 4:12:57 PM | Worst job I ever had was when I was 16 and deworming fish at the Fish Plant on the waterfront.
After working all day, changing out of your dirty overhauls which you left there to be cleaned you would put on your fresh clothes head for the bus with all the other fish plant workers and everyone on the bus (except the fish plant workers) are at the front with their noses plugged and we are at the back of the bus. Once home I would head straight for the tub with lots of baking soda and vinegar in the water and soak for about an hour before I felt clean. I lasted 4 days...LOL  | |

I dont think I'd be able to
I found a maggot in an arrow bar when I was a teenager and didnt eat arrow bars for years
I got shell fish food poisoning from clams at Johns lunch and thou I've been able to eat fried clams since, I havent been able to there | |

Every night I work I think about going out to the flag pole tying a lynch knot putting it around my neck, tying the other end to an anchor and pushing it off the wharf. Its just that boring. | |

Posted: 2/11/2009 1:31:56 PM | I once was a milkman, bloody early hours delivering milk, slipping breaking bottles on walls, i got more injuries doing that than anythink else.
My current job, man I've been bored but this just takes the p**s, processing day in day out answering phone calls, the only thing that keeps me sane is the view from the 14 floor im on. | |

Well no...couldn't eat fish for a long time...love it now but always check it under a light before eating...LOL..
About a year after that I worked for Camille's Fish and Chips as a waitress for awhile and used to cringe preparing the fish and chips...LOL.
I also cleaned bathrooms at the Metro Centre....that was a pretty bad job also...especially during Rock Concerts when people would be wasted out of their minds or drunk as hell and go to the toilet in the sinks....LOL | |

Had to back up in some treed areas at the end of dirt roads and the kids in the back would scream and try to make you think you hit something.
They would ask if you could pull over before they got home to have a smoke.
Kids saying that the train almost hit us when its miles away.
Muddy, ruddy roads in rain storms.
Checking the fluids in the bus in the snow and cold.
Gotta love kids. | |

Posted: 2/12/2009 5:44:36 PM | I have had it EASYYYYYYYY compared to some of you!
The only jobs I remember really hating were both summer jobs in high school.
One in a nursing home where we were instructed to wake people at 4am to give them breakfast. I don't even recall what else it was about the place that made me feel horrible even being a part of it. I only lasted three nights.
The same summer I worked at Polymer--the plastics factory in Truro on backshifts all summer. I think I was on the reamer--don't even remember now what the machine did or what I was supposed to be doing, lol. I just remember it was all backshift, always noisy, and my machine was forever breaking down. No one got hurt while I was there that summer, but a younger brother of mine lost two and a half fingers a couple summers later--with my lack of coordination/mechanical ability I'm amazed I didn't do the same. | |

Bouncer......3 years at a couple of bars in Banff Alberta.Didn't get shot or stabbed but,just about everything else. | |

| What are some of the worst jobs you've ever had?
Posted: 2/15/2009 2:34:34 PM | I removed asbestos insulation from a high school in Cornwall, Ontario one summer during university.
The building was completely sealed, so no ventilation...and we wore plastic suits, goggles and respirators all day as well.
We sprayed the asbestos insulation with water and would then scrape it off the walls and ceilings, then shovel it into barrels for transport.
It was hot and heavy work...at the end of the day you would pour the sweat out of your boots.
Plus, Cornwall ("cornhole") was stinkier than Saint John at the time and perhaps even more inbred.
The only saving graces were the wages, which were monster, and driving to Crescent St, Montreal or crossing into the States on a Saturday nite to go drinking. | |
