Posted: 3/19/2006 1:33:24 PM | So why is land scapes allowed, and peoples eyes only. They don't really show the people eaither. What is the differents. good side though, we get to see close into their eyes, and they can't hold a bluff.

Here is my take on this: The issue is not what you have on your profile
pics OTHER than your main pic. I think that the point is to get rid of
the ones that are not actually human on the search and forum pics. | |

Whatever I have on there now is what will be. But I do have some regular pics on there as well. It's pretty much my personality....is that to be labeled a cartoon? Seeing how it is smiley face that is already existing on here.

I've been there to its restaurant several times, so there is a personal connection to the place. I didn't see anything in the above that was related to a situation like this, and my interpretive skills aren't the best. Please give me a yea or nay, and I'll go accordingly.

There aren't the resources to sort through what is potentially 8 million pics. If it doesn't fit the purpose, it's taking a risk. You may lose your pic privileges if you stray from the purpose of the pic privilege, you won't if you don't.

Posted: 3/20/2006 9:15:42 AM | I understand this is a 'dating site' what I can't seem to understand is why it bothers people that some people rather post a picture of their pet then a picture of themselves. NOT everyone cares to know what the person looks like right away when they chat.. some people actually just come on here to just chat and enjoy the persons company. IF my profile would get deleted because i do not have a picture of my self on my page. Dating site or not, I think aslong as the persons picture is clean who cares what they post. That is just my opinion I think the purpose of a dating site is you rather the person like the person because of what they right not what they look like. If you want to be judged on your looks online then you serious need to get your self esteem checked.
Those are my thoughts, if my profile gets deleted because of this or because of a lack of real photo i just find that it's sad that it would come down to this..
so someone please come explain to me the reason why i need "MY PHOTO" posted, I mean a dog is better then no photo at all. I still get a lot of compliments on the dog(which belongs to me) and I think at least it catches an eye in a clean way.
Those are my two cents, if anyone has a problem with them please feel free to email me on here to discuss further.

I lost my cute cat and it was hard on me because she's no longer with us. I would never post a picture that is not mine, but unfortunately a lot of people do just that for whatever reason. the site has to protect itself from copyright lawsuits.
there is a site that allows you to a mosaic of your pictures but I am not sure if it acceptable to this site to post such a mosaic.

Just figured it out. I suppose it is okay to have the hotel picture, not as a main picture since it's never been used when I was posting on forums. It never was my main picture, but it ties into my profile's headline and since I've been to that hotel, it does have personal connections to me. I see that as long as I don't use it as a main pic, it should be all right.
Anyway, the hotel could be considered a landscape since it's on the landscape of Shelter Island, a much beloved place in my heart because my favorite aunt lives there.
Thank you for the further posts that helped clarify things for me. I am just so clueless when it comes to interpreting what the mods were saying. Anyway you won't see it as a main pic, since it never was in the first place.
I've enjoyed the forums and made great friends on POF. Thank you for making this service available to us singles who want to meet great people.

PS If you seriously think the hotel picture IS a problem, and tell me directly my feelings would not be hurt. I can simply delete it upon direct request. Without a direct request I suppose it would mean the hotel is an okay picture.

Posted: 3/20/2006 2:29:05 PM | designing, what it means is this: a picture of yourself with the restaurant (or anything else for that matter ) in the background is ok. but a picture of the restaurant by itself is not ok.
so you can go back and take another picture with the restaurant in the back and post it. | |

I did have a bunch of the Toothless Hillbilly pics posted and Late you actually gave me the warning....which is absolutely fine... I changed the pics and carried on .......and thats all I ask for here, not sure what rule or interpation of the rule I am breaking now. I have been trying to have pictures that are with in the rules.

Well it would definately be nice if the Moderators when pulling a picture did take the time to at least let us know why..
Moderators don't "pull" pics, there is a user base of a million+, potentially, 8 million images, and one Admin facilitating the Profile side of the site. There are no resources to "inform" or "okay" pics. If users want to make sure they don't lose their pic privileges, posting pictures of themself (the purpose of the privilege), eliminates the possibility of profile deletion/losing pic privileges. | |

Note: Reject/Delete, Cartoon, Nudity - buttons.
Also note that pic violations can be reported via the "Report User" link on every profile.

So who would be responsible for me getting deleted if I continued to upload and got canned for it... You are responsible for your own actions. The rules have been clarified to the point of utter redundancy. Post any pic you want, but take into consideration that you do so at your own risk.
Mods do not delete pics, neither do any other users. Admin is the one with the magical zapping button.

Posted: 3/20/2006 9:51:26 PM | Since being on POF I have used a zombie, sniper cat, cat with Ak 47, boxing baby, David Hasselhoff, Ronald Reagan, Che Guevara, a Shitz tsu with a combover and a mastiff as profile pics.
I obviously preferred using an avatar pic, rather than my own image.
The profile pic is not supposed to be an "avatar'' like a lot of forums use, instead it's supposed to be a photo because this is a dating site. Suddenly this has become clear and as long as it is evenly enforced I have no problem with it.

I can tell you one pic that will always get deleted by most anyone... Your ice sculpture bearing the logo of a famous beer brewery is certainly not appropriate. In fact that name and that logo is so copyrighted that by strict definition of copyright I am really not free to even write the name of the beer nor the company in this message without disclaiming it as a copyrighted name and logo.
Since I do not know all the legal requirements for publishing the name (even in this message) I have not written it, but I am sure you know of whose copyright I speak. That name and that logo belongs to that company and only they have the right to say who publishes it anywhere.
Even if you yourself own that brewery, I'd think you'd get a call from your legal department because of using the copyrighted item improperly here. | |
