I did use the "report user" on their profile and the profiles remained, so I used the forum to make my point about fake and useless profiles.
If you read the thread you will realize that it takes time for one person to check reports, those who may have pics that are contrary to the purpose of the privilege, lose the privilege when said pic is seen by site admin, to them, it comes "out of nowhere", to site admin it's dealt with as it's seen. Hence the warning explicit in this thread, as the abuse of the privilege is mostly forum related, ie: inappropriate avatars get more "eye time" and propagate more "copycats". | |

What ever site was hosting your images triggered an anti-spam filter - automatic. If you include yourself in a picture, it won't be deleted. | |

I had my picture privileges taken away and now know the complete rules... My question is.. When will my picture posting privileges be returned? I learnt my lesson and I was told the mods can be bribed with Tim Hortons? Hmmmmmmmmm? 
It's not a moderator matter, moderators only have tools for the forums. The pic privileges will return in time, things like this are automated due to the sheer volume of profiles. | |

Taaht was a pic of me, not a cartoon or any other thing, I am sole owner, it was a 3DCt scan, of my skull, it was removed without asking or expalnation. I'm really ok with that, I was posting it because some people I talked to about the surgery I had wanted to see the scan and the titanium plate. It was nothing offensive as are those men nearly naked with camera aimed down their pants, etc, or women exposing most of their bodies laying across a bed.
I have just deleted a beautiful picture that reflects my personality, and the strength of my faith, as you requested. What a shame, in my view, that I cannot reflect that, while others can get away with near nudity, and partial nudity in some cases on this site, where in giant bold red letters we are all warned as we upload pics, about nudity. The information you list in this post about other pics might also serve well to be listed on the upload page. Looking around this site, it seems to people who don't use the forums, as I never did until yesterday, that using pics to reflct your personality is perfectly acceptable.
I now understand your rules and though I don't agree wholeheartedly with each of them , this is your site and I respect your decisions.
As a member, if my opinion might matter, I think as long as the main pic shows your face, others should be able to reflect other aspects of who you are. The main pic should be of the member and should also be the one for the ratings. After that, it's up to the views to look further or not and as long as the pics aren't offensive or illegal, it seems they might tell perspective daters a little something about personality, whcih to some of us, is more important tan physical charactersitics, and certainly far more important than a naked view of a chest or view down someones pants... though that certainly speaks of someones personaity as well.
Just my opionion. Meant to lend a members view to the site creators, and not to offend. Thanks for the forum to do that. | |

I understand people's points, about having pictures of art, objects, ect ect as an expression of themselves.
Point in matter, is that this is a dating site. There should only be pictures of YOU as you are basically trying to "sell youself".
If you wish to share your "other" photo's with members, get yourself a site, where you can upload pictures...yahoo, photobucket, ect....
Then if your first email, include a link, with an explaination. Or after exchanging a few emails, ect.
Why anyone would want to rick having their picture privilages revoked, is beyond me....

Posted: 4/1/2006 1:51:11 PM | For me, posting a pic that represented my faith was important, because I was getting so many nasty emails and IM's where the sender clearly didn't read my profile to know I am not looking for what they were offering or asking for. The pic would tell them at a glance, at least some of them! And I would hope, might attract others who share my faith. Thereby promoting the dating connection... or even the making of new friends. Honestly, these contqacts have led me many times to consider getting off of this site. They are rude and offesive, and not what I'm here for. Posting a spiritual pic for me, was an effort to reduce those, and enjoy the others here who are more respectful.
I agree, I wouldnt want my pic priv's revoked, and I also respect the rights of the owner here to set rules. I do think though, that we are promoting ourselves, (as opposed to "selling"), and from where I stand on the matter, promoting myself goes beyond what I look like. I'm not sure promting myself is what Im doing either, I am telling about me, to meet up with others who have similar ideas, interests, etc.
The main pic, if it refelcts a persons physical characteristics, can draw viewers in, and other pics could reflect personality... I want to know about a person, more than what they look like. Looks are important to a degree, but more so in a pic of someone, I like to see how they choose to present themselves... facial expression, pose, etc, can say a lot. "Selling" or promoting ourselves, in my opinion, and I'm thinking in others might agree, goes beyond what we look like. This is a meeting place, not just for dating, but for making friends too, a place to connect. I think a modeling site would be only interested in appearances, but a place to connect with other people, seems to me, most would be interested in the person under the looks. There's a lot of reading to do, and it can take a lot of time. An eye catching pic, or one that speaks immediately about a persons values, etc, can draw viewers to read further where they might otherwise pass by.
Again, my thoughts. As a prior business owner, I can say that I think people in business want to know consumers thoughts. I would always want to know my clients and potential clients thoughts about how my business was run and what they thought could make it more appealing. That is why I am expressing my thoughts about this. I think its important and speaking up can sometimes lead to change, sometimes not. This forum, "...site suggestions and help..." seems the right place to share these thoguhts. So here I am, doing just that.
Please read the thread, the reason behind the purpose of the OP is clarified in it's many posts, this isn't a suggestiong or debate thread, BTW, it was posted because people were wondering why they lose their piv privs. | |

Posted: 4/2/2006 4:30:59 AM | Guys he's (Admin) is just trying to say that he wants us to have a picture of a real human being that accuratly depicts our true selves for the purposes of meeting someone as this site is primarily a dating site. If you chose to fake a picture, your taking that risk and all it entails, but the pic has to be of a clothed human. And if you chose not to have a picture, that is fine, too. No requirement to post a picture, but if you do, it has to be as stated above.
Not really all that hard to post a pic (or not post one) is it? | |

It was ME, and REAL, not a cartoon, or anything else. These are my pics, from my digital camera. Was it because both were similar? Both me and Bruschi had different experessions in each pic. Is there something somewhere that says we can't post similar pics of ourselves? I seriously don't get it and feel a bit picked on here. My last post got deleted without a reply to my questions. I decided I wasn't going to partake in the forums anymore, but when my innocent pic got deleted, i just had to ask why. Also, when I click "my forums" I get nothing, but I still am here in the forums. Am I somehow seen as a problem here? I'm about the most innocent person... I just dont get this? PLEASE post the rules where they are easy to follow, this thread is too long and I cant read it all.

If you look towards the admin's "intent" at the time of the writing of the picture posting rules, his intent was that he only wanted people to use pictures of themselves or including themselves.
Trying to say it as simply as possible, that was the intent. I don't think he's changing the rules but maybe clarifying or trying to further delineate what he intended as prohibited pictures. That's my take on it anyway. | |

I have enjoyed viewing some of the pics people had on their profile. I thought it showed a part of them you wouldn't find in writing on the forums. Double Cabin, you had some awesome pics posted and I'm sure I will not be the only one that will miss checking them out. I too had a pic of my Granddoggie posted and upon clarification I had to remove it. It was a great conversation piece and I got a lot of responses because of it. However, I'm not one to go against the grain, so to speak, so I did what was suggested. What I find odd is you can't have wildlife or pet pics posted, because it's not a picture of ourselves, but you can post a pic of an eyeball and that's acceptable. I've noticed quite a few of those. It could be anyones eye. I dunno. I think I'll just go back to my corner and just watch again. That seems to be the safe bet. Perhaps since you are a regular poster on here, your thoughts on this will not fall on deaf ears. | |

Animation and cartoons are a big part of my life and I earn a living from them. I see people posting pics of their guitars, guns, cars....yet I cannot post a cartoon drawn by myself.
I am following the rules, but shouldn't someone posting only pics of their musical instruments or fast cars fall under the same rule?

The pics show NO genitalia, cleavage, crack, areola, or nipple. All parts are covered. Oh, except for ankles. Do I need to cover my ankles here?
In short. The pics show no more than you would see at a public beach, pool, or television commercial.
They were deleted. Now I can't upload any pics to my profile.
Is there a specific pic policy that can be viewed? The policy posted in TOS is vague at best. The pics I uploaded were not in violation of the posted policies. So, I assume there must be an unposted policy.
In this thread I've found quotes from "Admin":

Well, I can assure you my pics did not fall into these categories.

How can any pic here not be confused with a "web pic" or "copyrighted" pic?
The pics are of ME with no nudity. How confusing can that be?
I can only speculate:
A pic that "looks like" it comes from a professional model shoot for a lingerie gallery "looks" like a stolen pic. There's no way to check all the pics so it's left up to the site users to approve (RATE NEW PICS), and subject to deletion even if approved, if it looks suspicious, as there is no way to check. Often, pics like this are from profiles by folks who are scammers, this isn't accusing you of this, it's simply what "sets the bar".

Posted: 4/27/2006 2:34:24 PM | I can assure you they don't look like a model shoot. They may have been a little risque, but it was on the mild side of that. They were pics that any reasonable person would expect in an "Intimate Encounters" profile.
If a fake/scam profile is on the site, it is almost always of the "Intimate Encounters" variety, these are often escort services, prostitutes, or fronts for porn sites.
As far as setting the "bar", it appears there's a pretty crooked bar. It's obvious there's no consistency to this censorship. Look around.
An uphill battle, with those who abuse the privilege ruining it for others, sheer volume (millions to one)makes the the process "catch as catch can"
For pics removed due to a community driven process, is it based on a good/bad ratio or do you just nuke a pic if they get X number of down votes?
Only "new" pics go through this process, the system is independant of any profile, just the pic alone.
For pics removed by the admin, do you think it would be possible to get a more comprehensive policy put into the TOS regarding what is and is not accepted? Specifically, what are the ADMIN's rules?
This has been considered, but even with specifics, there will be many who try to loop-hole, the TOS is clear as to "discretion via Admin" on this point.
Do you just automatically remove pics that blocked/shunned/jealous users report using the "Report _USER_" link?
Please don't tell me to read the thread again, this issue is not sufficiently covered in this thread.
I'm assuming there is no method in place to appeal these decisions?

Its like you are a guest in someones house..You wear your boots in the house and they ask you to take them off...But you would rather stand at the door and argue about it then abiding too their rules. Same thing with POF..We are all guests and if you dont like the rules ya know how to leave.
This is a dating site, not a "show n tell this is my pet" site. Deal with the rules, save the drama fer your gramma ... sheesh!!!
