I don't get it, people can have half nekkid pictures and their underage kids but we can't show our photography and express our interests? Niiice.
I had my dog last night with my brothers faces dubbed into him and it was removed??

Posted: 5/6/2006 7:53:34 PM | Just two simple suggestions when one goes to the rate new pictures, and uploading pictures.
1. If I could go to their profile, from the rate new pics, I may see in the combination of pictures, so that I can tell picture of the eyes on display are definately that person, just a close up of their eyes, butt, or chest. According to the way the rules are layed out, a picture of just a woman's chest or bottom does not show that it is her, and therefor could be a picture off the net.
This would also allow for pictures of animals on the same flooring as another picture in their profile have the same flooring (or any furniture). Maybe with this the person rating, could do all of their pictures that show on their profile at the same time.
It is a shame to delete a picture if it is just a close up on a person's eyes, for the eyes are the window to the soul, and many people do pay close attention to other's eyes.
2. The page that we upload pictures has a brief explaination of which pictures are not permited. If you had a large IF you are having problems uploading please read these threads , and link the two main photo rule threads there it would allow for users to check for themselves before starting another thread about their picture not uploading.

The only one that has the legal right to display a minor's picture is the custodial parent, not an aunt or an uncle. Even the opposing parent can not unless they have joint custody, under that legal ruling they are suppose to have both parents for consent. | |

I commend the various dating sites who are now taking steps to ban all pics with children. It's sad that the sites have to take the initiative to protect the innocent and that the parents don't have the common sense to keep their children private and safe from strangers everywhere! | |

Posted: 5/9/2006 5:06:13 AM | I did not notice the rules change, more enforced yes. I do mean the rules that most scroll down or just click agree when they first sign up. Not so much the posting rules that are on site. Those are being made more clear from what I have seen.
I also understood mailing a mod is best for that type of disucssion, for I understood this thread as a FYI thread, not a typical thread. Could be my misunderstanding, if so sorry.

Posted: 5/9/2006 10:39:57 AM | I think part of the problem is that the rules can be fond in two different locations. One is the help button at the top of the page under the banner and addition rules in the help thread.
IMO it often appears that the rules in the help thread are added to eliminate problems or issues that have occured. These claifications to the rules are not incorparted in the main help page.
But that's life. Like they say the site is free and ran by one person. I am sure that if someone wants to help out to ensure that things run smoother they will gladly accept the help. | |

But I don't question the rules myself. I mean so far... deleting my puppy's photo did surprise me, but I know I won't bring it back venting it, so there's no point..
But still, where there's democracy (and it's always been so obviously supported on your side of the ocean) I believe it gives anyone the right to question the rules... ;-) publicly :-)  | |

This is not a democracy. It is a website that you are a guest of.
Just think of it as being a guest at someone's house. You bring your dog with
you and the owner of the house says "sorry. no dogs."
You ask "why?" And the owner says "because, I said so."
Would you then say "but, it's a democratic society. I want to take a vote."?
The owner would say something along the lines of "get the hell out of my house
with that dog. Vote all that you want. My house my kingdom. If you want to
allow dogs into your house go ahead. But, don't bring them into mine."
I hope, that this will give you people, that are having a hard time grasping the fact
that: This is not a democracy. You do not vote on the rules. You do not mandate
policy. You do not enforce the rules. You do not enforce policy. The rules and policies
are made by the guy that owns the house that you are a guest of.
We suspend the posting privileges, of anyone that does not comply with the pic rules,
when they are asked to do so. If that doesn't motivate you to remove the pic that is
in violation....your account is put up for deletion.
Is there anyone that still doesn't understand? Please, put on the pointy hat before

I love POF and have been on here for quite awhile. I used to have creative pics up on my profile, but Admin is correct. This is not an art gallery.
It is better to see different poses of prospective partners so you can see if you are compatible. That is why most of us are on here to begin with.
But this sniping is getting ugly. This isn't a debate. Just a policy that we have to go by.
Sure, I'd like to post some cool things like I used to, but folks, let's not turn this site into Jerry Springer with the bashing. Let's keep POF positive and fun...and someone clean this thread up please! Wayyyyy too negative.

If this was due to Brawnydog's comments please read a lot of the thread and understand that many posts have been removed which his main comments were made to. Dog is a moderator on the site and I think on this thread the irritation got a little out of hand the other day.
I understand this thread as a JFYI thread not a discussion thread. I pointed out a few questions I have which are still up for when Admin has a moment to look at them. The thread did get a little foolish with reguards to the issue of funny/artistic pictures. But clarity is what most of us are looking for.
Sorry for the post and I know it was not suppose to be done on this thread.
Clarity is in the thread from page one:
The further you stray from the intended purpose of a dating-site profile pic, the more likely you will lose the pic privilege.
Vague? no, ...consider that there's over a million people who would loop-hole anything specific.
Not, an art gallery/slide show of your favorite stuff, or pets/place to show favorite web-pics, logos, beer labels, cars, motorcycles, etc.
The clarity is in the purpose of the privilege, not what is excluded by it.
It's as simple as noticing where you are, and acting appropriately, end of story. | |

How much time and expense would it take to prove each users rights of ownership?
Who are we as guests of the site to consume his time?
Standard rules for all allow for an easy guide line to follow. JMO

Noone wants to date your car.
Noone wants to date your cat.
Noone wants to date your condo.
Noone wants to date your cat on your car in front of your condo.
Noone wants to date a cartoon that you think represents you.
Noone is required to post a pic.
If you choose to be a participating member with a pic: have your image in it.
