| Can you party hard like a 20yr old when you are over 30? Posted: 8/30/2007 3:41:54 PM | | I could if I wanted to, but anymore the hang-over reallly sucks and I feel like crap for days on end. Oh the good ole days though, I remember being able to get off work drink all night stop drinking about 4 hours before I had to go to work, work my 7 hours or 8 hours however long it was, go home sleep for a couple of hours and be out starting it all over again with my friends. Nope not anymore, this year for my 30th, we all decided to go out and party hard.. while I admit I had a blast, but I ended up still being drunk at 1pm the next afternoon and then the hang-over hit me when it was time to go to bed, didn't get rid of it for 4 days.. | |

| Can you party hard like a 20yr old when you are over 30? Posted: 9/1/2007 7:34:49 AM | My best friend can and it amazes me!
Me well instead of partying for several days, I party for one day and recover for three or four! I used to be able to drink bath tub fulls, and go to work the next day like nothing ever happened, now well it's just pathetic, I lay around not doing anything for days!

| Can you party hard like a 20yr old when you are over 30? Posted: 9/14/2007 9:38:12 PM | At 43, I can still outlast my girlfriends no problem. .. and my best friend is 22!!! I never was much of a drinker, and I learned how to avoid alcohol poisoning a long time ago.
When I go to the clubs, I go there to dance... and dance I do.. all damn night. If I happen to meet somebody interesting, that's an added bonus, but not necessarily my reason for being there.
I can still pull an all-nighter and be at work ready to rock and roll the next morning. Do I do it every night? Hell no!
Have I done it lately? Hell yes! Just before the September long I pulled an all-nighter on the Thursday night, was at work at 8 am Friday, then after work loaded the van and drove myself and my son out to Brooks to go camping for the weekend.. and we stayed up until well after nidnight.
I don't party harder.. I party SMARTER.

| Can you party hard like a 20yr old when you are over 30? Posted: 9/16/2007 12:54:34 PM | The answer is drink less, realize you still can maybe drink more than an old man.
The reality of life is the older you are the less you can drink
At 50, if you make it , the doctor will say, the drinking will kill you if you don't stop.
Think of your children. and stop for God sake, your smoking, and loose about 100 pounds of that body.
This is the new life at age 50 to 60.
Learn to get your enjoyment from reading and women, provided you havent lost interest. And turn the TV off. You can still watch DVDs.

| Can you party hard like a 20yr old when you are over 30? Posted: 10/18/2008 2:25:12 PM | | I just did last night. I had a ride so I took the opportunity to drink my fair share of Tanqueray Ten and tonics. A pal and I went up the street to find another bar to have a drink at where we had a couple of vodka martinis, dry. We then talked about fitness and I challenged him to a race back to the old bar. So there we were running through downtown Seattle. He was dressed up as a superhero so it looked like he was chasing a bad guy. I think he stopped to puke once. We made it back to the bar and he stayed out side slumped over on a curb. I went in to grab me some more Tanqueray. Then I ran into an old female friend and we drank some together. I felt great this morning. Not too bad. Gin doesn't give me to bad of a hangover and its a good clean buzz that doesn't overpower my judgement so I can remain loose and sociable. A couple cups of strong coffee and some eggs this morning has rendered me fully recovered. It will probably be awhile before I can cut loose like that again but hey, that is what makes it more enjoyable. The infrequency. | |

| Can you party hard like a 20yr old when you are over 30? Posted: 10/22/2008 4:07:18 PM | Yes, you can. Responsibilities dictate you can't do it day in/day out but you still can. It's actually better after 30, because you simply don't have the time to party hard all the time, so when the opportunity strikes, it's that much better of a memory. Wait until you're in your 40's, then you'll really appreciate the ability to knock em back. When I was still in the Navy, I would come home on leave, and had a great time at home, then on the last day before I went back to my command, my mother and I would drink into the wee hours, (it became a kind of tradition for six years) and yes, she can still drink her son under the table...lol>..:)...and then they would help me stumble to the airport. I have really mellowed out since I've gotten out (Not because of the fact that I'm over 30 but the fact that I have other interests besides getting s#!tfaced for the hell of it) but that's cool, it takes less now to get me going....lol By the way, she's 54....and she can still party with the best of them.....even if it takes her a week to recover. She can't run on an hour of sleep a week anymore but when it's time to party she can still bring it. | |

| Can you party hard like a 20yr old when you are over 30? Posted: 10/23/2008 9:31:30 PM | I personally have absolutely no desire to party like I did when I was 20.
I don't know if it would be considered undignified, for someone my age, to party like a 20 year old or not? In some instances, it probably would be.
Rather than worry about dignity, I'd rather just worry about taking care of life's priorities, and doing what makes me happy. ....and, unlike when I was 20, I now realise I'm much happier when I'm occupying my mind with things other than getting drunk several nights a week.

| Can you party hard like a 20yr old when you are over 30? Posted: 10/26/2008 1:16:05 AM | | I'm 43. When the mood and situation are right, I can still party till the sun comes up and have a good time. The difference now is that I recognise that these are special occaisions and not a daily occurrence. If I needed to get hammered every day....something is wrong. | |

| Can you party hard like a 20yr old when you are over 30? Posted: 10/26/2008 5:33:02 AM | Ha, ha, ha...I was recently reminded that the answer to this is a resounding "NO" for me. I'm 33. One of my favorite friends to go out with is 24. Well, I am normally the responsible one because I drive 20 minutes home. I overdid it big time last weekend. Was up till 3:30 and drank WAY too much. I had to crash at her place, woke up at 6 am feeling like an a@@ sandwich and drove home (um...puked twice on the way home...yes, very classy). She was pretty much fine the next day and I was at home in bed for the entire day (a sunny beautiul day at that) curled around a 2 liter of Coke. Took me two days to recover fully, and had to apologize to like 3 people for acting like a jerk. This is not an experience I hope to repeat anytime soon! I will be going back to my old formula, thank you...one drink, then a club soda, repeat until ya' wonder if maybe you should just stick to the club soda for the rest of the evening...then STICK TO CLUB SODA. I have discovered, I can stay up and party to the wee hours if I make ONE of my drinks a Red Bull and vodka. That keeps me up and peppy FOREVER. But, I just can't overdo the alcohol anymore...which is fine by me. I can do without sleep occasionally, but need to remember to take extra good care of myself if I do (vitamins, green tea, and some exercise).

| Can you party hard like a 20yr old when you are over 30? Posted: 10/26/2008 8:49:53 AM | I turned 30 a few months ago and so far so good.
I don't go out as much as a I did in my early 20's but its mainly financial restraints and a dwindling amount of long time friends that still share the zest for clubbing.
Hangovers are definitely worse than when I was 20 but I still look forward to my Friday/Saturday nights.
