| How important IS the ring? Posted: 3/21/2006 2:09:07 AM | It's a man thing in the past to show that he is successful and the lady he is going to share his life with will be happy..also an investment for the future.
Feminists think it's a way to brand and enslave the woman..she is HIS property now..like the ring is HIS property..his bounty ...
Lots of guys nowadays think about themselves and what THEY are going to get out of it? Very self centered and feel that THEY don't have to prove anything to anybody...and he just drowns in a pool of selfishness..that's why many get on here..not to find someone but to feed the "Bachelor" ego..those is this mindset will never GET why the ring is important..
to me it's a gift of love and appreciation for everything you do for him..

If I give a diamond, she is indeed my property. And made that very clear far before the sparkly bird bait was offered

| How important IS the ring? Posted: 3/21/2006 2:22:35 AM | She would have earned it....by the time it got to the ring thing..it takes a lot to hold men's attentions these days..with all the temptations in the world..
If he feels it is a good thing to provide his lady with a bauble..what man would like to have a woman that is happy and do his bidding..well..????
Materialistic? no but it's a good thread to dream...

Its not a territory marker, just a symbol of the bond we share. Just my opinion though. I guess I'm oldfashioned.

Unless she is your property to buy or sell at will, you should not marry her.
PS: or can laugh at you saying that out loud.

| How important IS the ring? Posted: 3/21/2006 2:37:11 AM | And the word "commitment" on here is a dirty word ..all the good stuff relationships should be is really a downer on here because of the past baggage they cannot let go of..past relationships that rings were bought and dreams were broken..
each person has their own story..be it sad..or glad..but all in all..the ring is a tradition..and it needs to be told..

| How important IS the ring? Posted: 3/21/2006 2:38:50 AM | I just want to say that really, it is about the person giving you the ring and not the size of the diamond. Most marriages end in divorce and I'm sure many of those women had huge diamonds. It is about the love that two people share. That is the most important thing. Carrie | |

| How important IS the ring? Posted: 3/21/2006 2:39:58 AM | :O Carrie, does that mean you don't still want the princess ring with the small diamonds on the side? I already took out a mortgage for it!

Please people stop emailing me about my wedding. It is a joke. The Foxx and I don't know each other, we don't even email each other. We kid around at night. It is not even flirting. Calm down.

| How important IS the ring? Posted: 3/21/2006 2:44:05 AM | Oooh, blue sapphires:D. I'm an emerald man, myself. Green suits my complexion.
BTW, Can you forward me some of those emails to me?

but now its expected that the man will put (2 months salary) money away for it.
OMG,,,my arm would have been dragging on the ground,,shoulder seperated,,finger dislogded from the hand,,omg,,noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
THIS I find ridiculous!!!!
For years I wore a ring that his parents had given to him,,and even after I got a engagement ring,,i stil wore the other,,,alll through our marriage,,,that one meant more to me than the actual wedding band.
|
| How important IS the ring? Posted: 3/21/2006 2:48:24 AM | ^^ Ridiculous but true. I'm a firm believer in "its the thought that counts" But I would still buy a nice diamond for an engagement.

| How important IS the ring? Posted: 3/21/2006 2:48:54 AM | Foxx; I have been deleting them as they are annoying me. If I get more I will certainly forward them to you. Some people do not understand joking. I do prefer sapphires. You seem to be an emerald man, that is what I would have guessed. Carrie P.S. I know its not really relevant but I have kept my fahters wedding band, it fits me and its beautiful. I wear it when I go out so men will leave me alone. This usually works. | |

| How important IS the ring? Posted: 3/21/2006 2:56:33 AM | Thats OK. I meant that the ring would work to keep all but the most incorrigible away.
Good that you stick to your guns:)
