I have even dated some, is it because it is a fantasy no, is it because they are drunk like some posters have said, no.
It does go both ways, for women and men...there is no difference, I had a friend who flirted with the mail carrier.
It is because there is something there...maybe an attraction, or wanting to find out more about the person.
It is no more different than seeing someone at a gas station, or in a grocery store, or even at a park.

Anyway this is sooo easy it hurts - why u ask? Because that is what alot of men do - hit on women in all kinds of sad ways! Now gentlemen don't get ur boxers in a bunch - not all of you use these lame lines - a few of you are genuine - but mercy that guy was using a badddd line - so you take this fella of yours who would probably act almost as lame sober - throw some drinks down his throat giving him that pathetic extra bit of false confidence and My dear he hit on you and 1/2 the people in the joint.  | |

I work in a fast food style restaurant in a local hotel and I find that (wow this is going to sound really shallow/mean) even when the Older less good looking Women are doing cash. we get more tips then when It's me or the other guy working the cash register. Sometimes it is the alcohol. Friday nights are our busiest night and again if a younger girl or a girl is on cash we will make much more then if it's me on cash.

Posted: 3/22/2006 5:24:12 PM | Okay, take a look at this. A lot of women treat guys so much like crap that sometimes? The ONLY time a woman is nice to them is when they are in some service capacity. Otherwise they never get a break. Coming from a totally nerd/geek background, the only relationships I had with women were all platonic cause I grew up around a bunch of girls so they would all go, "Ewwww, it's Stephan." and like treat me like a slime ball while drooling over guys they have no chance of getting, like Prad Bitt or someone. So most of the time, if a guy is trying to talk to a lady she is surrounded by a garrisson of her friends and they have been talking about the guy all night. at the table, in the bathroom. And thinks he either something great to laugh at and make fun of to pass the time away. Or a hunk. So if he comes over he is just going to get a double blast of shot gun mouth right between the eyes. So some guys just go, "Why bother." I know I do. lol
So when a girl smiles to a geek? It's like something doesn't say to you, "Hey doofus, she doesn't like you you idiot! It's her friggin job." You are like in ga ga mode. Try saying hey to a Hooters Girl some time when she is not in uniform. She will like just SO want to get the hell away from you.
So guys will hit on you like real hard and heavy cause it's like a matter of life or death. I mean, a GIRL is saying hi to me and like smiling! O dam, I have a chance. HEY, will you go out with me? No? Oh, okay.

Mall clerks (ie Jewelry store clerks are HOT!!)
Mall Kiosks (Cell phone Kiosks)
And ANY job that requires a woman to answer calls and sit at the front desk all day.

I tell them they are paid to be nice to me. How am I supposed to tell if I'm crossing a line or picking up on a signal?
My sister used to work as a waitress, and she would come home all tore up because a particular guy always sat in her area, but would never ask her out. It goes both ways. Sometimes the server wants some extra attention, but how's a guy to know? Guys that hit on all servers have the answer. Eventually, someone is going to say yes. | |

Not only that, in a lot of bars their staff is very attractive by design so your attraction is part of their experience. Even if the place you are working in isn't like that, most bars are. But it does happen elsewhere.
One of my friends got the hots for a girl working at a photography shop where he'd get his pictures developed. He'd come up with all kinds of accuses that required customer service just so he could talk to her. He did ask her out but she shot him down.
I used to get hit on all the time when I was a waitress at a drive in and had to bring the food out to the cars. You don't take it offensively because they are usually the better tippers.
So it happens elsewhere but it probably happens more in the service industry where you being warm, friendly, and smiling is part of your job. Guys will often be more at ease to approach women who are warm, friendly, and smiling. Add alcohol and now they have confidence too. | |

They know you're being friendly cuz it's part of your job but add alcohol to the mix and they start telling themselves that there's something going on between you as in the magic connection. Next thing ya know they're imagining running towards you in a field with sappy music in the background and you can already hear the train headed for Heartbreak Hotel a comin.
