| Is it possible to fall in love with someone you never met? Posted: 4/22/2006 3:25:16 AM | I hear from you every day. You're always on my mind, and even invade my dreams. How can I be in love with you? You're not my age, and don't live here in my world. And yet, it doesn't matter. We create a world just for the two of us, where both of us are together. It may be our love that creates this place, or maybe it is purely our fantasy. I've only seen pictures and read words. So are you real, or am I simply imagining you?
Some people we think we've gotten to know pretty well can still have been lying to us. If we cannot trust those by our side every day, how can we "know" someone met over the web? Truly enough, we cannot. All is fair in love and war. I hope you are real, because you are perfect.

| Is it possible to fall in love with someone you never met? Posted: 4/22/2006 1:56:11 PM | It's amazing how easy it is to fall for someone that you haven't met..I mean they have no flaws on here do they? I think I should put all of my flaws on my profile and see what happens..lmao. I was off base using the word love. But I still believe that it's possible to fall in love given enough time and honesty and want...And it's a beginning..no sexual complications you actually have to have a conversation..flirt..joke..have fun..and if you can do that via telephone e-mail, web cam...then it should be easy in person to be the same way. I am in person, the same person I am here...smartassed...boarderline retarded...kind of pervy lmao...and some say sweet with a big heart..I paid them well to say it though. Love should be easy, and every single person in the world should be on here...make it a lot easier to find him/her if your soul mate happens to be on a different country.

| Is it possible to fall in love with someone you never met? Posted: 4/22/2006 5:22:42 PM | Excellent question... as this was asked to me by a woman about 6 months ago...We would e-mail each other at least 20 times a day, call each other on every break and be on the webcam and phone every single weekend and at nights after work....we felt like we knew each other so well and that all our dreams had come true and been answered and talked about anything and everything and spending the rest of our lives together and started making wedding plans, etc......so she flew out to see me on 2 seperate occasions and was all over me constantly in public at home, etc. as afr as i could tell everyhting was going great...but i found out she was leading a double life and later on I found out that almost all the stuff she ever told me was not even true...she knew how to say all the right things and I thought omg this is a dream come true...but then I found out $3000 later she was a con and had just gotten out an abusive relationship and I was just a scapegoat. If it hadn't been for my faith in the lord I wouldn't be here today. So in answer to your question I say NO it is Not possible as you have to be with them physically too and they can e-mail you one thing and then when you meet them it's totally different...Please remember just these few things.... 1. IF IT SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT PROBABLY IS 2. BELIEVE NOTHING YOU HEAR AND ONLY HALF OF WHAT YOU SEE AS EVERYTHING IS ALWAYS OPEN TO INTERPRETATION 3. ANYTHING LESS THAN A LOVING THOUGHT IS TOXIC Good Luck to everyone who is trying to find the right one and have a great life but don't get discouraged and never, ever, ever give up! | |

You made wedding plans but you didn't love her? Mhmmm sounds a bit fishy to me. Of course she ripped your heart out, evil woman, but you fell in love with her so I must beg to differ with you.
*hugs to you* | |

| Is it possible to fall in love with someone you never met? Posted: 4/22/2006 7:35:26 PM | Verissa, omg if you only knew the whole story here..but the fact is that it would take up 2 many pages on this website to write about or to even try and explain....lol....as far as the wedding plans...We made them "together" and she even wrote her own vows and read them to me when she put her ring on my finger. She proposed to me!...well...to make a long story short after she flew back home the second time she kept telling me her boss was giving her all these raises to stay and that she didn't want to leave her friends behind. This was after she had already promised me she was gonna move here in april or may to be my wife...Well, I came to find out after I got her car licensed and insured and paid for 2 plane tickets and wedding rings and god knows what else that she was on other dating sites after the fact ...I was upfront and honest with her from the get go...It happens to the best of us...and yes thre old saying is true...nice guys DO finish last! I was a sucker and yes I was naive all because the name of what I thought was love? I guess even when you're so 100% positive things can still change...but we must persevere and move on and forgive or we cannot be forgiven ourselves....good luck to all. | |

| Is it possible to fall in love with someone you never met? Posted: 4/22/2006 8:15:02 PM | NiceGuy4U,
The guy that I wrote this about stood me up 5 times. Yes I know thats stupid of me..after the third time I was just pissed off and wanting to know what all the hubbub was really about..see who it was that I was all upset about. After that he drove all the way here to apologize..was 2 blocks away and "didn't have flowers" turned around and left...hahaha I had a few beer and wrote and said that I just want to see him for shits and giggles...then joked "please don't make me stalk you" guess that did it. He was feeling like a jerk and when we met it wasn't awkward at all. We had a nice evening and the rest of the weekend. I don't have a clue whats going to happen in the future..not with him or anyone else..I have a few friends on here now and don't take any of it too seriously..well one..but thats an exception to the rule.
I'm sorry for your pain...Karma will find her in the end, and you'll find someone nice who deserves your affection.

| Is it possible to fall in love with someone you never met? Posted: 4/23/2006 5:52:07 PM | Well I can say for one....I met my fish on here. And this is exactly how we started through emails, messenger & cam. Then we met...I wouldn't dare say what happened the first weekend "wink" "wink"...but it has been great. We still chat everyday & night through messenger etc. as we do live a distance apart. So we have been getting together on the weekends.
I can't say how long it will last, but I am prepared for the long haul.
So I would say you have to use extreme caution, as anyone can say whatever they think you would want to hear...but they could also do that in person.
But yes it is very possible to "fall" for someone you have never met...however for it to be true "love" requires...sometime together. Just to make sure your both on the same page, and that you click on every level.
I wish everyone who finds themselves in this situation the best of luck!
It can hapen. | |

| Is it possible to fall in love with someone you never met? Posted: 5/1/2006 10:22:37 AM | You know when I began this thread I had a general idea of who the person I was writing about was. Some likes and dislikes, and a little about the past, present, and future. He actually stood me up several times...and yet something about this man kept me from walking away..and had it not been for the affection and genuine feelings developed on here I never would have kept trying..I would have just let go and said see ya buddy! But sometimes you can just see into a person even without seeing them at all...and I wanted to at least have the chance to see for myself who I was so infatuated with. It has worked out wonderfully and I am happier than I have been in years. Perhaps love was too strong of a word to use for this kind of situation. I'm sure in time it would have become a love of sorts, but a deep caring and infatuation for sure...impending marriage or lifelong commitment..who the heck knows but we're happy together and life is good for now so who am I to question it? Oooops I already did..thank you all for your input, advice and heartfelt stories of love and loss.

| Is it possible to fall in love with someone you never met? Posted: 5/1/2006 10:57:27 PM | | I wish I could disagree with everyone on this but I cant. I can tell u from personal experience also. I met a guy off of here that I was in love with. He moved to Kamloops to be with me and it just wasnt the same. People are so different on computers then in real life as much as u dont wanna beleive it. I still do love the guy I met off here. (His name thingy is Okanagan_Hustler) but us as a couple wont work. Wen u talk to someone on a computer u think ur being urself and so is the other person but u dont really know someone till u meet them. Its hard but if u think u can make a relationship work with this guy, I say go for it. But try to hang out and be friends before dating right away. Good luck and I wish u the best. | |

| Is it possible to fall in love with someone you never met? Posted: 5/1/2006 11:20:48 PM | | I didn't believe it would be possible, until it happened to my best friend. What she had for this guy was a true love...ended up with her having a broken heart. Yes, people are very different on computers, even on the phones... then in real life. I would be very careful with a long distance relationship. You have to spend some time together to really get to know each other. | |

| Is it possible to fall in love with someone you never met? Posted: 5/2/2006 10:12:38 AM | Happened to me
There's this guy I met at the music forums. He helped me with my song - it was a great help, and my song sounded amazing because of him. You might say I merely fell in love with his music. But he also have one heck of a personality, is modest, philosophical, mature and shockingly intelligent at such a young age. (ARound my age). Man, he have one heck of a personality...you know, like you won't be meeting another person quite like him.

| Is it possible to fall in love with someone you never met? Posted: 5/2/2006 10:17:47 AM | I have been reading the responses to this awesome question... I can only give an opinion based on my own experiences... as I would hope all of you are. I think some people are just guessing with absolutely nothing to back their sentiment. My answer to this question is an emphatic yes. I do believe this is possible... I do however believe that the concerns expressed above by others are definitely warranted. Some people are just in love with the idea of being in love... they push the issue and convince themselves this person is the man/woman of their dreams. They don't take the time to get to know their fantasy person and sooner or later they will realize they are using the word love and not really feeling it.
I think that getting to know someone on-line is a great thing if you have the patience for it. I think if both of you have committed to the idea of giving each other a chance and actually come to terms with the fact that you are not going to meet for awhile...possibly a long while for whatever reason,(as long as there is one) then that is a great start. The net forces a person to be creative about getting their feelings across... allows a safety zone where physical chemistry will not cloud judgement. Some say internet love is simply lust...I say isn't it more lustful to want someone merely because you find them physically attractive? Some of us don't take the time to get to know someone properly BECAUSE we are blinded by biceps or abs or boobs. If you actually make a committment to know someone this way, you are putting everything into heart and emotion and mind... where love should reside (not in biceps). if they lie to you about things...well as far as I'm concerned lies can happen even if you spend every waking minute with the person attached at the hip...it has nothing to do with being in person or on-line. When you meet someone hot in a bar and give out your number and start a romance...are you not alowing for the same risks? Taking a chance on someone you barely know? Of course you are.
Am I speaking from experience... hell yeah... did it work out... hell yeah. I actually found love that way... and it lasted with no surprises or downsides or regrets. almost a full year of talking on line only and falling completely in love and knowing her inside and out... then the phone...then in person... when we completely already had each others hearts. I see no reason to discourage someone who thinks they can achieve this... Is chemistry important? of course it is... but the chemistry that we had upon meeting (and even prior to) was overwhelming and something I have never ever felt before... so intense and beautiful... where is your sense of romance people? I know that there are QUITE a few bad eggs that seem to ruin it for others... but how about we don't allow that to happen and keep our sense of romance alive. I never wrote so many love letters in my life...never took note of so many song lyrics and connected with them, never wanted so much, never felt so much and have never been so connected with anyone. I am writing this as a tribute to her... the reason we could not be together is the same reason we are not together now... please no guesses or assumptions... just know that what I had with this girl was real and the love I felt for her long before meeting her in person was just as real... anyway...obviously this is an issue close to my heart...good luck all.
