For the most part most people online are genuine but I have seen it all and there are really some bad seeds out there that thinking nothing of spewing bs so like they have told you keep your eyes open and be cautious. | |

The problem is that you don't really know if you've fallen in love with the real person or the *idea* of the person. It's very easy for people to present themselves in an online relationship as someone very different from who they really are. The key to any relationship online or face to face has got to be honesty. I know people who have met online and met face to face and had wonderful relationships, married and have children. I also know the horror stories and hurt when you finally meet that wonderful person you've fallen in love with online and find out that they aren't the person you believed them to be. Take care, be aware, be realistic. It's possible, but it's not a given. We're all looking for that connection that will carry over from the fantasy to the reality, the dream that we wake up and find has become a reality. Every time you meet someone you take a chance no matter if you've met them in a chat room or a club, a game or a dating site or the public library or shopping center. It's a fact of life. But what's the alternative... sitting home alone for the rest of your life? Good luck to you. | |

I've fallen In Love with _Married_ women, before.....
I even _MARRIED_ ONE...!!!
....{It took a while for Both of us to get Divorced, first, though...!!}
I've even fallen In Love with a few Ladies..HERE..!!
But they always shoot holes in it with :
"Oh!..You're too far away!! "..OR.." You're Too O L D ..!! "
...Without even finding out the Least little thing about me....
In reality, they're just not attracted to me..{My Apologies for not being Tom Cruise..At least _I_ can sing ' You've lost that Loving Feeling '...!!! }

Both are different, both are integral. My theory then is as follows: On a scale of 1-10 a person can only fall in love up to a 3 until other combined integrates form and come up to that level. It will take 2 strong loves to move beyond the 3 level. If someone thinks that they have fallen in love to a higher degree than 3 then they are living in a fantasy world and worry about just how much of their world is indeed fantasy. | |

Gave him a few chances and each time he "loved me" but couldn't commit completely. I wish him well and love him to death inside and out but I concede that we're finally over for good. | |

Posted: 10/6/2006 5:40:02 PM | Happened all the time during the wars...women would write to the men overseas...and they would fall in love via snail mail!! The letters gave those men something to hold on for...some hope! Many such couples married when the men returned from overseas!!
I think it can happen online too...BUT...today there are many fakes and scammers out there...investigate this guy closely...and be careful!

The problem with faling in love with a person you have never truly met is that you have fallen for the person they have projected themselves as being. This can play heavily into ones fantasies, believe me. The problem that many will encounter in this situation is that people often describe themselves differently than they truly carry themselves. You end up falling in love with this fantasy of the person in hopes that they truly are everything and more than they have described. But, from what it sounds like to me is that this guy lost one heck of a neat girl. Mr. Right is out there for you, I promise!  | |

Posted: 10/7/2006 2:33:53 AM | | I definitely think it's possible when both people are really being honest about who they are online, but I don't think you can only have that internet fantasy and have it be real relationship, because it's obviously just a medium for communication. The internet is vastly different than any other medium for communication before it, just because culture can transform there, audio and visual information resides there and allows for an unprecedented level of free self expression. The key is always going to be if the person is being honest the internet allows someone else to know that person much more intimately and more quickly than any other way. If everything up until you meet is centered around, in some way, you ultimately meeting and cultivating what started from communication than it can work. | |

Posted: 10/7/2006 4:11:19 AM | I think I did! And his ex came back and said all the BS right before we were going to meet and it tore him in half, and broke my heart  ! He is still trying to figure out what it is he wants to do, "cuz he dosent want to hurt her" but he is pretty sure he dosent want back into a bad relationship! We were so happy, and we had connected on such a deep level, I find it hard to want to get back out there. We havent really stopped talking yet, he is taking a few days to himself, but I know the out come.  She lives in his town, Im 2 hours away! They had a real relationship. But what I felt we had was real too. He said it so many times, how deep of a connection we had, how much in common, how she dogged him. I tell you, she better cherish him this time around if he goes back!!

We most certainly have never met but we most certainly have crossed paths. We went to the same elementary school (8 years apart); tried bumming a cigarette off my ex; and, most recently, we were in the same stadium watching U2."
I used to know Keanu's cousin, Kina, when I lived in Honolulu. She worked at the same hotel as my husband. I've never met Keanu, but his family is super nice and most of them are still in Hawaii. I attended a family reunion in kuliouou 8 years ago with Kina and the whole family was wonderful - too bad he wasn't there - sigh.
On the subject, I think you can grow very attached to someone online - it happened to me, but until you meet in person, it's hard to know if it is really love. | |

Posted: 10/9/2006 6:00:35 PM | | I recently had the most emotional week of my life,couldn't eat,sleep or think about anthing else except getting another message from this guy...His emails were so romantic-he made me feel like i was the most passionate ,desirabe person on earth. i was just totally honest with him and kept telling him that this was crazy to be falling so fast for someone and he felt the same way too. Well we decided to meet after only one week and although i liked what i saw BIG time -he 's handsome ,responsible and smart- he said he wasn't ready to date right now after driving two hours to meet me. So we actually spent another hour or so together and got along fine but then he left and i haven't heard from him since. it's been two days-we emailed each other at least once a day before. i can't believe how much I miss his emails and his friendship. it's probably a good thing we met so early cuz if we'd gone on longer it would have hurt so much more. So be careful and don't have any grand expectations cuz i wouldn't want you to feel this hurt. | |
