| Ways to cure insomnia Posted: 4/10/2006 7:03:32 PM | Start winding down about an hour before bed time. Relax, read a book, take a warm bath. Don't clock watch. Don't lay in bed for more than 20 minutes tossing and turning. Get up and quietly read or talk to your pet for 15 mins or so. Don't watch TV in bed. Don't bring work or arguments to bed. Bed should be for sleep and sex only!!!!!
OE: Have SEX!!!!!!! | |

|

| Ways to cure insomnia Posted: 1/7/2007 6:30:38 PM | it's 2.25am and I can't sleep. I've tried studying, reading for pleasure, relaxation exercises and just staring at the ceiling. I decided to get up as I was getting annoyed. I'm a night owl anyway which doesn't help. I can be half asleep at 8 o'clock but wide awake and buzzing by 10. What can I do??????? | |

| Ways to cure insomnia Posted: 1/8/2007 5:42:19 AM | The best cure for insomnia is usually consenting sexual acts, but that is so difficult to find these days.....lol
The next best one is drink, the more the better. In the words of the late great Tommy Cooper " I am on a whiskey diet, it's going really well.....I have lost two weeks so far"

| Ways to cure insomnia Posted: 1/8/2007 6:13:26 AM | Don't rely on alchohol to send you to sleep!!! Sure fire way to develop a drinking problem...& it's not proper sleep you go into...you don't get enough "REM", & will not wake refreshed!!!
Other posters have covered most tips...
Are you getting enough excercise? Take a warm bath listening to relaxing music, use natural remedies such as Lavender bath products, room sprays, oils etc, chamomile tea etc...cut out caffeine & don't eat after 8pm, nicotine is a stimmulant too. Make sure your bedroom is dark & warm, clear it of all electrical devices & clutter. Write down anything that's worrying you before you go to bed & tear the paper up.
Relaxation, breathing techniques & a bit of Neuro Linguistic programming will do the trick...
Breathing steadily & deeply, in through the nose, out through the mouth...start with your toes...clench to the count of ten, then relax. Then your calves. Then thighs, bum, stomach...you get the jist. While you are doing it repeat positive affirmations...it's very important to ask your brain for what you want...example..."Iam relaxed, sleepy & content"... as apposed to "I don't want insomnia".
Or else talk to me when I'm drunk...I could put a glass eye to sleep...
Happy snoozing!!! | |

Eureka!!! How very constructive!!! *Rolls eyes*
And what happens if people are drugs tested in their work?
|
| Ways to cure insomnia Posted: 1/8/2007 1:46:57 PM | | I got myself this CD of rain falling in a forest - generally does the trick. Ain't found anything like it. The reefer idea would be a close 2nd! | |

| Ways to cure insomnia Posted: 1/8/2007 1:55:02 PM | MSG43 - although she offered, you didn't have to accept
i find that sleep is sometimes very hard to achieve no matter how tired i am, but i find a cd with some music (not singing) is very good, just don't have it too loud or too low, as both will stop you sleeping, you will find the right level / type of music
it is often a sign of things on your mind, try to go to bed happy even if you are on your own
good night and sweet dreams!

| Ways to cure insomnia Posted: 1/25/2007 7:22:51 PM | Had to resurrect this thread. I have tried to sleep and its not happening at all. Not helping is all my allergies flaring up and I haven't got any of my usual medication to stop it.
I am going potty. Been happening more and more recently and its awful. I'm usually a really good sleeper and I can't function with no sleep.
What do I do???????????!!!!!!!!!!!
