I wouldnt have milk - It makes you snotty (it stimulates your mucas membranes).
Try a nightcap ( but this can become a bad habbit).... reading usually does me actually....
Depends on why your not sleeping actually - are you stressed about something?

| Ways to cure insomnia Posted: 8/29/2007 9:30:00 AM | 100% guaranteed way to bring on those much-needed Zzzzzzzzs:
Settle down with a nice cup of Ovaltine.....switch on the spare telly in the bedroom...
Watch a few replays of Leeds Utd receiving their regular weekly hammering from the pub teams in Jokarola League 1
Most of the crowd have already nodded off by half-time so it's a doddle to get into the swing of things
Try not to wake up laughing in your sleep.
|
| Ways to cure insomnia Posted: 8/29/2007 9:34:43 AM | I love my sleep but at the moment I'm just not getting enough!
Driving me mad, so it is. Woke up at 3.30 the other morning and could not get back to sleep, came on here posted some drivel and then was on MSN with another insomniac friend til nearly 7 am. Makes me very cranky, I think J is seriously considering the mallett option for me!

| Ways to cure insomnia Posted: 9/13/2007 5:07:04 AM | Why face the inconvenience and hassle of getting out of bed and downloading youtube videos??
Ladies suffering from insomnia can swiftly rack up those Zzzzss in the comfort of their bed....thereby cosy, comfy and ready for that much needed nocturnal nodding.
Simply keep a mobile phone under your pillow and, if dreading an insomnia attack, phone "Yorkshire Smooth'n'Sizzlin Charmers" on 0800 xxx444xxxx
Ladies rendered comatose in 5 minutes or your money back!

Failing that, instead of counting sheep, which can be taxing on the mind and involves too much brain activity, read Leeds Utd Honours List......it's totally blank so you'll be blanked out in minutes!!

| Ways to cure insomnia Posted: 12/27/2007 3:35:18 AM | cant believe you lot, i am ill from insomnia, my lack of sleep has become a huge issue, i am not amused at the lack of compassion you lot of****eads show for a genuine complaint you should be ashamed of yourselves, ok wifeymaterial, if you go to your local herbalist get him to make you a compound of passiflora and valerian, take one hour before you want to sleep, works for a while till your system becomes immune but at least you`ll get some sleep xx

apparently if you're having trouble sleeping, if you stick your pillows at the foot end of the bed and sleep that way instead you'll drop off in seconds...

|
| Ways to cure insomnia Posted: 9/28/2008 3:34:21 AM | My problem is lying in bed my mind starts to process everything it can think of. Couple of things have worked for me in the past. This might sound daft but really can help for a while anyway.
Try to relax as other posters suggest, breathe evenly but not too deeply and instead of trying to blank your mind (I never can) picture either waves rolling onto a shoreline or clouds floating off through the sky. As each wave or cloud moves away from you, imagine your worries and thoughts leaving with them.
Often not sleeping is a habit we get into. This is true for me. Even when I get to sleep I know that 1 1/2 - 2 hours later I will wake up and again around every 2 hours after that. Makes no difference if I go to bed at 10pm or 2am so it's not any external noise that stirs me.
I am seriously thinking about getting something short term from the doc just to get me into a proper sleep routine -

| Ways to cure insomnia Posted: 9/28/2008 6:38:25 AM | | Melatonin tablets help loads. Take one half an hour before you want to go to bed, make sure to sit in the dark after taking it. | |
