| What are your pet peeves on profiles?
Posted: 2/22/2007 11:13:31 PM | Just remembered one more, and this is actually my BIGGEST pet peeve.
When a guy shares all my interests, is great looking and articulate, doesn't care that I'm a size 22 instead of a size 12, and he lives THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY. Those profiles should ALL read Toronto, dammit!
But then I have connected with a guy on here whose profile did say Toronto and he actually just visits here a few times a year.

Posted: 2/23/2007 6:29:39 AM | I can't stand people who write like they live in the hood..."if ya wanna git wit me" that kind of thing...or people who are so negative...like we all have our personal preferences but when people start being negative like "don't waste my time if you are a fattie" or the ones that say they are confident in themselves and "don't take it that I am a B*TCH I judt know what I want" and then have a crap load of demands...I try to steer far away from them!! lol
People who get angry when you are not interested in them cuz they have no pic..in this day and age you can get a pic online...for crying out loud people...who meets a stragner they have not seen...I have talked to way to many that say they "have one on msn but can't get it on this site" yea right...ok!! | |

People can go to a resource centre or another place and the staff will show them how to scan their pictures onto a profile,. It's that simple!.  | |

2./ people that say they are respectful of others and thier feelings,,, but don't have the decency of a response to an IM or email!
and the biggest one of all
3./ People that have restrictions on thier mail setting that condemn you, not for you or what you do,,, but for who you have talked to!! (you talked to johnny, so you can't talk to me!) Grow up!!! | |

Posted: 2/23/2007 10:33:03 AM | the fact that a few people online think we don't notice things..ie...when i read a profile and it states that you're a typical leo, but the sign notes you as capricorn or gemini (depending on if you read it monday or tuesday LOL)
Or when i noticed that there is suddenly a massive decrease in age from one day to the next...yes, i do read the profiles and, yes, my memory is able to retain these little gems of info LOL
now, really, i know it takes time and you need a few memory cells to retain information about your birthdate. we all get confused, must be the onset of dementia creeping in, so i'll take that into consideration. or maybe you just like birthdays so you have one a month and change your profile to reflect that.
yep, i have a good memory and things like that really annoy me, although sometimes it also really can tickle my funny bone depending on my mood. | |

If your married get out of your relationship don't go looking for an easy exit. Have the strength to make the right choices on your own.
The whole photo thing- let's face it beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Someone who says one thing and is simply not. That would be a lie.

I was just scrolling through to see if anyone wrote this one... I totally agree. Really, it just makes me laugh... picturing someone smearing out someone in the picture with them. I mean, if you really like the way you look in the picture, can't you just crop the other person out?
It makes me think of teenage heartbreak, where you go and cut out the head of the person you dated from all your pictures. It's just cheesy.
But I have a different pet peeve (maybe this should be a new thread) - people who send you a message to say hello, but don't actually SAY anything. It's just "Hi, wanna talk" or "Hey, like your smile"
If you're interested, why don't you pique my interest by actually SAYING something... it doesn't have to be all that much. Maybe you just saw a movie you like. Or maybe you saw something funny on the streetcar. Anything... something... just to get started. Otherwise, you're throwing all the work to the other person, even though you're the one who's interested.
If you're interestED, then try being interestING. That's what I say. | |

When a person u meet or talk to is soooooo different from there profile, it makes u want to ask if it was therte friend that filled it out.
They write about something to do with kids after they speak to u,or big themselves up as if there gods gift to the world. | |

Posted: 2/25/2007 11:00:22 PM | As I was looking at the profiles of a number of people who had been checking out mine (don't you LOVE that feature - thanks Markus!  ) I came up with another pet peeve.
What's with all the pictures that are taken of a guy wearing a baseball cap so his face is totally in shadow. We want to see your face, not the logo on your ball cap!
For that matter quite a number of people also post pics that are taken at such a distance you can't really see the face either.
I'm old fat & ugly and I haven't actually broken any camera lenses lately - come on people take the hat off before you say cheese.
Just my 2 cents.

Pictures of pets, kids, members of the opposite sex. I don't want to date your dog!
"Significant Other" shopping lists - use them for your own ratings purposes. On the Internet I am perfect!

I do think it's odd when a guy is looking for "just a womEn" This may belong in that spelling and grammar gripe thread, but come on, WOMAN is the singular, just like MAN! | |

I'll even respond to the email with that and get "well you are on here so you must not be happy in your relationship...."
So I guess my pet peeve is people not reading my profile... I am not looking for anyone, hence why my display pic is of my work. | |

Women who post......
"tired of games"
"no liars/cheats" (I'm sure that the real liars and cheats are going to stay away, yeah right)
"you must be 5ft 10 or taller to contact me, even though I'm only 5ft 3"
"you must be 6ft or taller"
"you must be 6ft 2 or taller" (wtf?)
"I don't have a car so please live within 10kms" (hahahahhahahah that one makes me laugh)
"smart single woman here, with 3 kids but none of their dads are a part of our lives"
ok the last two quotes are not common, I just thought I'd share with you with what I've read on POF. | |

I have no problem people wanting to see a pic eventually or asking for one, but to say it out like that and frankly sounding forcefull , it just rubbs me the wrong way.
I have even come across a profile of a lady on another site that said that if you don't look a certain way (not going to say what kind of look or what it was about)then for those people to "get lost and not waste my time"....I felt that was really crule and just not called for , for anyone to say that in my opinion.
Some people don't realize this, but some of the things I read from SOME individuals on their profiles can sound or come across so harsh and be such a putdown that , it makes you sometimes think or consider to just give up dating because sometimes ones immeditate reaction is that most people are like this and that they will all be like this. | |

The worst is the testimonials from some 'friend' who gives the warning "if you hurt her then you will have to deal with me". Internet tuff guys, now i'm scared.
I also don't like it when girls put all kinds of sleazy pics on their profile and then write something like "if you are just looking for a booty call then move on, I'm not that type of girl", could have fooled me. Thats false advertising. | |
