| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 5/14/2007 10:48:05 AM | Another pet peeve of mine is people asking for your email address or msn to show a picture of themselves. They do not want to show you one from their profile. That is a red flag to me.
I was listening to the television news and they warn the public to not give out your email address to people that you do not know. That is good common sense to me..

| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 3/29/2008 4:22:12 PM | -people who say they don't smoke but have pic of themselves holding a cigarette -"single" people posting with a wedding band on??????? -my friends say........... do you really think your friends are going to say you are cheap, a loser, a player, stupid etc...pleeeze -men with no shirts, no pics, no smiles, sunglasses, sunglasses talking on cell phone..yes there is one! -men wanting a thin/fit/athletic girl when they are clearly overweight -lying about your age...I can tell the difference between a 55 year old man and a 45 year old man -looking for an intelligent woman and spelling intelligent wrong?? -showing pictures of you drinking beer...your point is??? -listing too many restrictions--distance, colour of hair, eyes, age, body yada yada...maybe barbie isn't alive anymore!
People just be yourself, show a good (recent facial pic) and be honest about your age/weight and what you are looking for. If you only want sex that is cool,,,but stay away from us who are serious about meeting a partner!

| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 3/30/2008 7:51:07 AM | I agree with everything you said lassie add to that -people who have profiles in different Cities at the same time, gets confusing -they are new over and over and over again on the new user list -no picture at all ever -they are 50 but act 35...(shakes head and wonders...what are they thinking?) -as they enter the pond they say "I am new to this..."and you have seen and read their profile on here and several other dating sites. New is New now that I think about it maybe new is something that happens everyday like a new day who knows I just say be real and be who you are in looks, actions, thoughts and what you really are looking for on here. oops thought of another one -age range, what is with guys in their late 40's looking for a female between the ages of 18-48 I soooo don't understand that one! | |

| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 3/30/2008 10:46:59 PM | I'm sure that these have been stated, but I thought I'd add anyway.
1. People who post pictures with multiple people in each one and they are all the same people so you can't figure out who the hell is the actual person in the profile. Aren't the pictures meant to identify you, not confuse people about who you are?
2. Net-speak or Text-speak using letters & numbers or shortforms for actual words. If this is an English language website, I shouldn't have to translate your profile, unless of course English is not your native tongue. Like a parent will say to a 2 year old, "use your big boy/girl words".
3. Pictures that are from 3 miles away. Yes, you are in the shot, but you are on the other side of the Grand Canyon so there is no way of knowing what you look like!
4. The aforementioned sunglasses pictures. I don't mind if it's a couple of pictures because you were on vacation, but not every single picture.
That's all for now, I don't want to sound like a complainer. That will be someone's new pet peeve. I guess another pet peeve may be jack asses like me who didn't read through the entire thread to see if these were mentioned.

Your a clever person and I agree with all your perceptions and comments. Enough said, my own grasp on the English language is not perfect either, haha.

| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 8/29/2009 1:22:13 PM | It really chaps my azz when someone from a different social category - ex. IE, dating, long term, friends, writes to you and their profile and status clearly indicate that you/they are not compatible.
When you politely write back that "I'm sorry, I'm not looking for someone longterm, IE, hang out etc., they respond by writing that they aren't looking for THAT either - their profile is wrong!
Well, pardon my language but WTF in your profile can someone rely on if you don't even know what you are advertising or looking for? How can you not get that basic principle correct?
Headdesk...........sigh

| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 8/29/2009 7:55:18 PM | OK, I'll add my list, even though all of these have probably been mentioned already. 1). Your pics contain multiple people so we have no idea which one you are. 2) Closeups of tattoos. 3) Leaving your profile questions as "Prefer not to say" | |

| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 8/30/2009 12:42:58 AM | if people took the time to read the rules before making a profile ..you would know your profile pic should be a current head shot !!
why would you join a dating site then not fill out a profile .. perfer not to say ... huh !!!
people who send a message without reading my profile then ask a dumb ? like where do you live ,what do you do .??
guys who are much younger than me telling me im hot sexy or they want to *** me ... really , would you say that to a gal in person ! as i say in my profile .. I'm a lady .
pic s of your car ,your boat , or your bike without you in it , you and a gal ( whats up ..oh .. ok its your sister ??).
I'm sorry but poor spelling doesnt work for me ! write a profile on a program that has spell check then copy to your profile .

| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 10/5/2009 11:07:05 PM | I dislike profiles that: 1. Don't include the town they live in i.e. Somewhere MO. 2. No picture and have the audacity to require a photo in their mailing preferences. 3. Contain old photos exclusively. 4. Contain blurry photos. | |

| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 10/6/2009 2:23:57 AM | This stuff actually "pisses you off". Wow, so much for not sweating the small stuff in life. Maybe it's time you all took a break from internet dating? | |
|
| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 10/14/2009 11:23:44 PM | | I won't bother to sweat the "small stuff" (i.e. spelling, grammar, use of "net slang", etc.); however, the biggest pet peeve I have on profiles is women showing cleavage. Honestly, where is the modesty? | |
|
| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 10/16/2009 7:33:23 AM | It shows me a little about someones intelligence if they have pics that say.... taken last week or my favourite... taken yesterday. Come on people, give us an exact date or atleast narrow down the time period. | |
|
| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 10/16/2009 10:45:29 AM | :Women who use "Are there any good, honest, real...men left?" For their first line To me that says: Are there any good men left that can meet up to my standards!! Really how lame a question is that?
:Profiles that mention Knight in shinning armor!! Guess they missed the notice that went out. " Due to cutbacks the Knight has been replaced with a sanitation engineer. The armor was to costly, therefore replaced with recycled pop cans & the horse was replaced with a mule!!
:Spelling!! For the sake of all, get a spell checker. Wen i see a woman's profile saying she is an administrator yet every fourth word is misspelled. Well ya gotta wonder about that! I think that's it for now. I feel better. lol

| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 10/27/2009 7:13:44 PM | 1. Improper grammar. 2. Pictures that make posting that picture pointless (far away, blurry, no face, all face, etc...). 3. Zero information. 4. "Prefer not to say" for anything that can be clearly known by pictures, defeated the purpose. 5. Bad attitude in the details. Why sell yourself as a prude? Or worse. Who's interested in that? | |

| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 10/28/2009 9:22:11 AM | | One liners - hi you're cute, hi you're beautiful, can i have your number, lets chat online here's my msn, do you have facebook are my pet peeves. | |
|
| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 10/28/2009 8:11:33 PM | Incorrect ages - what can't so many of you properly input the correct year of your own birth? It's got to be about the simplest thing you can possibly do on PoF, and you'll never have to ask for a profile review in order to figure it out. Yet I estimate conservatively that perhaps 15 in 100 men in their late 40s and early 50s announce in their profile, that they've made this "mistake." I'm sure women are very guilty of this too, but I don't review women's profiles generally, so I don't have a good sense for how often this occurs with the female gender.
And why are these "mistakes" always happening in your favour? Nobody seems to choose an earlier year and then have to explain that they are actually YOUNGER than their stated age.
How is it possible for so many to choose the wrong drop-down box? Oh wait, I know the answer - you don't want to be excluded from database searches when you're approaching 50 or over 50.
'Nuff said......... | |

| What are your pet peeves on profiles? Posted: 11/2/2009 7:41:52 AM | Biggest pet peeve? The list of requirements. With some of what I have seen these people will be on here a very long time. It is dating. Whatever happenned to getting to know a person? When I see a profile with a list a mile long I ignore it because it is obvious it is not the 'person' being sought. Might as well put in there please forward your Blance Sheet, Income Statement, and tax assessment. Is really quite disconcerning and makes the person come across as very shallow. On the topic of the 'occasional' smoker. Guess that is the same as the 'occasional' drinker. So what does occasional mean? A 12 pack every day? A bottle of wine per day? Now I am really thinking about this. Consider too 'AA' has a definition for an alcoholic no matter what amount you drink, and 'occasional' would qualify as an alcoholic. So, guess there are a bunch of problem smokers and drinkers on here. I think we would be all better off to get the hell off these sites and learn to actually be social again in real life. So judgmental here, no wonder there are so many single people spending another Saturday night alone! | |
