| Bikers Thread- A place for biker's and their thoughts Posted: 6/9/2008 4:16:45 AM | Twenty years from now, though, you'll be sorry! I have to protect my skin. That's the secret of looking young for as long as possible. The wind and sun are very aging and I don't want to look like a prune.
I did get a helmet. It's got a face shield which should help with my eyes watering from the wind. That is so annoying going down the road with tears streaming down your face and your nose running!
I went to the Iron Pony a short while back and got some stuff. My boots were only $20 and the leather jacket was on sale for less than $100. The helmet was $40. Now all I need is a pair of chaps for cool weather and a denim jacket for hot weather. I might get a different pair of gloves than what I currently have, too.

The wind and sun are very aging and I don't want to look like a prune. I'm with you! Tons of SPF 70 sunscreen! After I've spent the entire day in the sun (or back of a bike), you can't even tell! When you're on a bike, you have enough wind to keep you comfortable even with sleeves as long as it's light material.

| Bikers Thread- A place for biker's and their thoughts Posted: 6/9/2008 5:30:02 AM | There are motorcycle specific jackets designed for hot weather. They are made of a ballistic mesh, and while you are moving they are actually cooler than not wearing a jacket. Denim provides very little protection against abrasion, and is very hot when it is 80 or above. Iron Pony has mesh jackets, and may have some in their closeout section at a reasonable price.

| Bikers Thread- A place for biker's and their thoughts Posted: 6/17/2008 8:54:29 AM | I was in Kroger's yesterday and saw where qfm96.com is giving away a free 2008 Harley in a contest they are sponsoring in conjunction with Miller Lite. I'd enter but I never like to give my address and phone number online. Do you think it's safe?
Well, I never win anything anyway!

| Bikers Thread- A place for biker's and their thoughts Posted: 1/4/2009 12:07:11 PM | ALWAYS, ALWAYS wear gear to protect yourself. I love my leathers, even in hot weather, I rode to Missouri in 2007 with all my leathers on in July. I was warm, but I felt safe. I plan on getting some lightweight gear if I go south more often. I have two pairs of chaps, one with fringe to match my jacket and the other plain. I used to have three helmets but lent one to a friend so she could rider her father's trike. No one needs road rash. I also don't want to get hit by a bird or even a large bug while driving at 55 Mph...ouch. Kat the biker babe | |

I never thought about getting hit by a bird. That would be horrible! If a bird can bring down a jet into the Hudson River, what would one do to a biker? Very scary.

| Bikers Thread- A place for biker's and their thoughts Posted: 10/22/2009 4:54:16 PM | Hey y'all! Smiley here. I've been riding road bikes for 9 years and dirt bikes for well over 20. My first bike was a '93 Honda Shadow 750, that was a great bike. Now I ride an '01 Indian Scout, great bike too!
If anyone wants to know what a "biker" is, its you! The common bond between men and women and their love for riding! I saw someone post they are a motorcyclist. Don't cop out man! You ride a bike therfore you are a BIKER! Nothing to be ashamed of 'cuz!
I myself fall into the hardcore biker category. Everything in my life involves motorcycles in one way or another. I'm not an outlaw biker but I would say I fall into the 1%er category. I love to drink, smoke pot and raise hell! Raise hell as in goofing off, not being violent and robbing quickie marts. Most of what I do doesnt fall into the norm of society.I listen to punk and psychobilly, read iron horse magazine and I'm an engineer. I'm a member of a motor club, we are a brotherhood of bikers and hot-rodders and we all shower on a semi regular basis. lol The most important thing is... I love to ride!!!
There is a difference between bikers and biker-trash!
