That's a good question. For some people, being a "jerk" or a "b1tch" means that we have done nothing other than disagree with them.
There are certain behaviours that obviously fall within the realm, but there are so many grey areas where it becomes a "he said she said he said she said" game.

You had the advantage of having all your friends there for support, examination, etc, and he would of been a little pressured maybe. Ofcourse he could of called to cancel and maybe state the above and push for a one on one meeting in a pub or cafe or something. Just a thought. | |

ahh..men...the eternal frustration..
I was chatting with this guy for months and we finally decided okay, lets hook up. He wanted it to be on a weekend that I was going to a very small informal dinner party so I invited him. Everyone was excited because I am the only single one left of all my friends and guess what...he never showed...
Asked him about it , he said someone had stolen his truck and he was dealing with that..yadda yadda yadda , so I giving him the benefit of the doubt set up anohter date..this time to go skydiving with a bunch of us..he was totally stoked and guess what..he never showed again..
grrrr
I have a few such stories...so my dear you are not alone in this.

But one thing I do agree with, is that there are jerks all over the world, male and female. And the funny part is, that everyone has a different definition. eg. I used to think some people I knew a long time ago were jerks. Now I reflect upon it and realise that it may have possibly even been ME that was the jerk. But we all learn (I think some of us do anyway) and time is a great teacher as well. Looking at forums such as this and the young people that respond to it only make me thankful that I am a bit wiser. Do not forget that we were all young once, and maybe as impulsive as the creator of this thread. But do we have the right to judge her for her error? Are we all so perfect? No. We are not. She is not perhaps as knowledgeable as some of us oldies and is prone to say things that she is now regretting. Impuilsiveness has it's price. Now, haven't we all done that at some stage? I have...and those of you who are honest will admit it too. Yes, some guys are jerks, some gals are jerks. Saying things in anger or impulse is not really counted, providing you have learnt a lesson. I think a lesson has been learnt here. | |

Posted: 3/27/2006 12:36:22 AM | Dating is never all fun and no downfalls. It is tough, taking chances and meeting that guy or girl and he/she screws you over or stands you up. Not much we can do. You will go through a phase where you will despise men, just like many of us go through a phse despising women. Is part of life and growing up, expereincing things. You get past it and move on.
I have met many women who pisssed me off, rudely said things to me, etc. But then I met many sweet women, who were honest etc. Just like I have guy friends who are a-holes to women and others who are decent to women.
We all generalize because it is easier to explain how we feel and it is more frutration and nager that makes us feel that way...chin up OP you are 18, got years into your 20's to expereince heartbreak and heartache, not just being stood up. And you will experience sweet guys. All a learning experience each time.
Try being in your late 30's and single as a guy...you get sterepyped big time and overlooked by alot of women too. Either they say you are not good enough, too old or too young.... | |

Ever see the "Heritage not Hate" bumper stickers? Did you know that the flag existed many years before the KKK started using it? I, too, would encourage you to do some research. All those vehicles you see with rebel flags on them do not ferry about racists -- that is a sad example of overgeneralization.

Out of the 10% that I deem as attractive 90% of this know they are and are hardened by the amount of mails they get and dont give us guys a chance.
Yeah we know that almost all the guys on here are timewasters but give us a chance to prove we are not!
I give up with the amount of girls that chat on msn and juggle us guys in some sort of dutch auction responding every 5 mins with yeah or lol. Basically if u wanna talk talk and if u dont tell us u arent interested and let us move on to someone that has a personality and is actually interested in chatting
Having said that I have 4 or 5 that are scrummy and are taking the time to know the real me

Bashing genders for their poor behaviors isn't productive. You could have posted "People are Jerks" and made the post less offensive.
The truth is that most people that come and use on-line dating services tend to be selfish and self indulgent. Why do I say that? Well it is a theory based on the fact that people take advantage of the fact that on-line is less personal so they don't feel as guilty or remorseful acting impolitely, rude or selfishly.
So I guess I would say don't be suprised by anyone's behavior that you meet on here. I would also promote that the behaviors you complain about are demonstrated by both sexes equally.

Personally, I don't have a problem saying everything in person athat I say in here, being punched in the nose is a small price to pay to be able to say that you're true to your beliefs.
I agree that the topic should have been some men are jerks, or people can be jerks, or even men CAN be jerks at times.. (cuz we all can). But I don't wanna see the op get the holy crap kicked outta her due to her profile. (shrug) just my humble and mixed up opinion. | |
