| Interview from GMA re Internet Dating - Thoughts? Posted: 11/3/2008 7:23:37 AM | The good people on dating sites are out there - they always are. But when you run into them, you have to be quick about making contact. For the good folks get snapped up quickly by other good folks. They don't usually stay on sites looking for partners for very long.
Oh yes..........and let's not forget that if anyone is on a dating site beyond the magical expiration date, not snapped up quickly......they're somehow defective and not good people? That post was a joke..........right?

| Interview from GMA re Internet Dating - Thoughts? Posted: 11/3/2008 8:12:19 AM | I put my posts up in the forums to make a point and leave it at that. If you don't see the inherent logic behind the section that you quoted and would rather add the extremes of 'all people' and 'magical cut-off date' to it, that is freely your choice. It won't be me that will try to argue with you about it.

| Interview from GMA re Internet Dating - Thoughts? Posted: 11/3/2008 8:16:48 AM | | Now Mr. Cdn? I see what you were trying to say. I have said that myself before. It does at times appear that when a good fish hits the stream, he is fished right out of the pond! Then again, there are in fact, a lot of people who truly do think that the amount of time one has spent on the internet means that there is something wrong with them. And that, I can't agree with and I don't think you do either. Correct me if I am wrong? | |
|
| Interview from GMA re Internet Dating - Thoughts? Posted: 11/3/2008 8:22:30 AM | I didn't say there was anything wrong with anyone. And yes, some people do think that there is something wrong with people who've been on dating sites for a long time -- not everyone, but some do. I get it myself, because I've been here over 2 years. That was not the point of my post, nor was I trying to insinuate that. I meant only that the 'good ones' (relative term) tend to come and go quickly. At least, that has been my experience. And that made sense to me.

Funny though ... my pa always told me to always get all pruned up before a date. These days, though, I only get all pruned up after a bath.

I couldn't possibly just be a really nice female who happens to be looking for a really nice guy.............

Well, Spicy, if that is your conclusion from reading that thread of comments, either you comprehension of the English language is severely lacking, something that would be surprising in an Australian, or you have a serious personal problem of some kind. I suggest you ask yourself what that might be...
Of course, you may just NOT HAVE READ THE COMPLETE THREAD, and uttered a reaction based on an INCOMPLETE and OUT OF CONTEXT interpretation of 1 response.

| Interview from GMA re Internet Dating - Thoughts? Posted: 11/4/2008 1:26:58 PM | | I agree that some people get addicted to this site. The thrill of making new connections, meeting new people can take over their life. I have a friend at work that got a little caught up in it when he first logged on. He was meeting two or three girls a week, then finally realized it was a little much and closed his account. He said that he was actually relieved, and hadn't realized how much confusion it was causing in his life. I have another friend who is also on here who has kind of withdrawn from friends right now. He says he just needs some alone time right now, but I notice he has been spending a LOT of time on line here. I think he's addicted to all the attention he's getting from strangers right now. Like a moth to a flame. | |

| Interview from GMA re Internet Dating - Thoughts? Posted: 11/10/2008 1:40:37 PM | | I find this whole line of thinking very interesting. Instead of searching and finding the best possible match for yourself, if you have one good date, you quit looking. In reality, if you've found the right one, YOU DON'T WANT TO LOOK ANYMORE! Having a single good moment or date doesn't mean anything. We shouldn't be afraid of competition. If someone we like decides they like someone else better, they aren't the right one for us. Premature choices are one reason why 50% of marriages fail. | |
