| How many guys or gals would consider dating a physically disabled person? Posted: 11/30/2008 4:22:43 AM | Well being disabled myself, I'm naturally tolerant to people because after all were all born of diversity, but sometimes I feel shut out mostly because of people's ignorance.
However I'm getting quite disturbed by people's perception on what's visually acceptable or not and whilst going out into town, I've even encountered verbal abuse off people as unfortunately I have Spina-Bifida Occulta it kinda makes it obvious for them to notice.
But having said that I'm friends with many beautiful people and they accept me for who I am and what I am. So things can't be bad after all!
So in answer to the topic question I would definately date someone if they had a disability, after all it's inside that counts isnt it?

| How many guys or gals would consider dating a physically disabled person? Posted: 5/1/2009 11:37:30 AM | About 4 years ago I was talking to a guy online, on another site. Not for all that long. Maybe a couple weeks or so. When it came up that we would meet, he seemed really apprehensive and then he told me that he lost a leg in a car accident and wore a prosthesis. He said he would understand if it bothered me. I thought about it and decided it wasn't any kind of deal breaker. ( He was really cute! lol) It worried me more that he was about 8 years younger than me.
Anyways, we never did meet as I lost all interest when I found out HOW he got into the car wreck. He was so relieved to get it off his chest and he so non-chalantly told me about how he was fleeing from the cops as he had about $20,000 worth or pot in his vehicle and had other outstanding warrants. If he wasn't so persistant in trying to get together with me again, I would think he changed his mind and made it up to get rid of me. But I think he was just so clueless he thought his having a stump for a leg was the worst thing he had going against him. lol

| How many guys or gals would consider dating a physically disabled person? Posted: 9/4/2009 1:40:26 AM | | I TOTALLY would!! I often think it would be very rewarding to take care of and love someone who has such struggles in life. It depends really on the situation. I would like to have kids some day, so thats still important to me. And I want to be sure that I really can and am able to deal with whatever the challenge is. | |

| How many guys or gals would consider dating a physically disabled person? Posted: 9/4/2009 9:49:43 PM | Yes some have no idea how we live or what we put up with. A friend is a have problems with (height adjustment) on her new type of leg. Its far better not wearing one and keep life simple. Many ablebodied people prefer us. I dont have a problem with sex,its a great hobby and it keeps one fit.lol We have to try so much harder. | |

Posted: 9/16/2009 12:00:31 AM | We have feelings also: Some ask silly questions EG What happened etc. I have never married or had kids and thats why many of us find partners at meetings for disabled persons. I may marry a friend of mine who knows lol. Some of my friends have married Devs and are happy.

| How many guys or gals would consider dating a physically disabled person? Posted: 9/17/2009 4:14:14 PM | | Iam presently coresponding with a lady who is disabled . I really have not asked her the extent of her disablities. She is still working and had a spinal problem and is continually having to go to the doctors and hospital. We are only emailing each other as I am Canadian and she is in the USA. As we are both in our 70's we dont intend to be together. Would it be wrong of me to ask her for more info on her disablity as I might take a trip and meet her in the future and have a date. | |

| How many guys or gals would consider dating a physically disabled person? Posted: 10/5/2009 3:15:10 AM | It does not bother me,because I am one. Many people judge us,they are very wrong. Could they live in our world? Often I see the fear factor kick in. Many of us belong to dating clubs for disabled with the hope of finding a partner. Some people prefer us which is fine by me. A few of my friends have their own websites and are doing well. If you want to meet one of us,look at some of the websites for a better idea first. You should check out our websites or read books on the subject. I hope this gives you a better idea.lol | |

| How many guys or gals would consider dating a physically disabled person? Posted: 10/5/2009 7:45:28 PM | | That is half hearted. Assuming people can't do something is not accurate. I'm physically disabled and I have my own place, my own car, have a great job, and 100% independent. And no the govt does not give me a bailout either. I pay my own doctor co- pays and my own needs. Just as any able bodied person does. There are some limitations but with having an open mind you can overcome those things. Sexually things still work. Maybe a few positions are not practical but still being able to function for the most part and the invention of viagra can definitely help. I've pleasured women before and was more into them than my own self. If anything that is a rarity considering the rap most men get for being selfish and not care about there partner. | |

| How many guys or gals would consider dating a physically disabled person? Posted: 10/5/2009 8:19:49 PM | No. Generally not interested.
But it depends on the disability. Ain't too keen on people in wheelchairs (specifically para and quadriplegics), cerebral palsy spastics, and definitely not down's syndrome.
Is there some other disability other than those? Can't think of any right now but I may be open to them. It really depends.
Yes, yes, yes. I know. Tell me you are not too keen on blacks, fats, illegitimate basterds, or whatever else you might find to reject me because you feel offended and want to offend me too. But that's not happening because you're not gonna get at me like that. A question was ask, and I'm answering it - however PC this may be to you.
Has anyone else in this thread said they wouldn't date disabled people? I wonder what the response to that was as I haven't read this thread and only tend to read where I pick this thread up.
Besides, like I said in a like thread - you only think you would accept anyone now because you're disabled. If you weren't - you most likely would have more restrictions, more stringent standards, and would be rejecting more people based on physical attractiveness and (dis)ability. It's the like the pretty girl who rejected everyone she thought was below her and then once her face got smashed she had the audacity to ask 'WHY WON'T PEOPLE ACCEPT ME FOR WHO I AM'?? Oh please. I smirk when people when say that shit. She/he didn't say that crap when they were pretty and able bodied.
So everyone gets to have a preference. And everyone gets to get rejected. Sorry but that's how it is.

i have a mental disability and cant even get a date cause of it Why would you want to discuss this with a date? Just to let her know this is what you have? Or to get her opinions on it?
What is a mental disability? Schitzo? Psychotic? Delusional?
I'm not trying to trying to be snappy or mean, I'm genuinely asking because I have my own ideas for some of these mental, emotional, and psychological dis-eases and my ideas often go against the common grain.
And what is the difference between a mental, emotional, and psychotic disorder? And why are you considered disabled because of it? This is directed towards anybody that wants to answer.
My aunt is considered delusional psychotic and it on disability and drugs for it. And yes, I agree with the diagnosis but it's also fulla shit.

i have epilepsy (aka seizures)
Oh. OK.
Well that's acceptable. I just wouldn't drive with you anywhere and hopefully you don't drive.
And that's a disability you can't usually see so that might be one of the more accepted disabilities in general when it comes to dating and marrying.
