Well, for all the hype...I don't think Price is the second coming of Roy or Dryden. His glove hand sucks!!!!

Things like the glove hand will only get better, after all he`s only 20 and a rookie. There is alot of room for improvement and it will improve. There has always been alot of pressure put on goaltenders in Montreal. Right now Price will be mocked for playing poor but hated by those same people when he plays great. Every goalie is under the scope in the playoffs. Price is the go to guy for a reason and critics will eventually jump on the bandwagon even if they wont admit it. Either way, it`s still gonna be a good and tough series. Making the playoffs is tough enough but staying in the playoffs is tougher, were just gonna have to wait and see what happens. Pens played well today, shuout for Fleury, good for him.

There's not a whole lot of time for it to get better in the playoffs.

If not this year there will always be next year. Next year he will be better and will continue to get better over time. For now he is doing a great job and doubt very much that he will let in a 120 footer slip pass him,, oops didnt that happen to the Leafs go to guy ? hehehehehe. I love playoff hockey, regardless who`s playing, it`s just more exciting when your team is playing, I hope they put Ryder back in the lineup, they need his grit. Hab`s for life.

Yet, they won that game!

I remember a couple of years ago a goalie won the Calder trophy as Rookie of the Year. Where is he now????

Sometimes high expectations will kill ya!!!!

Have an original thought guys, forget what MacKenzie and Milbury are saying. Watch the game and decide for yourselves if hes any good or not. Try to remember hes 20 years old too OK. Most of you werent doing your own laundry at 20, this kid is backstopping a nhl hockey team in a playoff run. Weak glovehand? Come on.

^^You're kidding, right???
You obviously haven't watched the games. 2 out of 3 goals last night were on the glove side!!! And if you saw the CBC broadcast they mentioned that his glove hand had been talked about. If hes not missing it, he's giving it away...again it happened last night.

And if all you Habs fans keep on saying he's only 20 yrs old, well then maybe he shouldn't be up in the NHL. I think Montreal put an awful lot of pressure on a 20 yr old by making him their goto guy. Any hockey fan with a bit of knowledge knows that defense and goaltending are positions that takes a while to adjust to the NHL level of play and usually requires at least a couple of years in the minors to prepare for the NHL.

maple , maple , maple, first of all I am a Leaf fan, and secondly it sounds like you are comparing your obvious vast hockey knowledge against that of Stanley Cup winning, future hall of famer Bob Gainey. I am sure that Gainey over looked the fact that Price is 19, with no NHL experience to speak of and an "obvious" bad glovehand. If you want to know the truth about these "weak" goals you should investigate the fact that on all these goals Price, like most young NHL goalies, is on his knees for every single one of them. Common sense tells you its harder and slower to lift your hand from your knees 4' in the air than it would be if he was in a good goalie stance with his hand high off his left hip ala Marc Andre Fleury. Guys like you watch the tv shows and regurgitate the information they give you as if you were experts. If PJ Stock and Kelly Hrudey said the goals were because he has cream cheese on his bagel that morning you'd spew that nonsense too I suppose. For one game turn the sound down, don't listen to the analysis and jot down what you think the game was won and lost on. I bet you you'll be amazed at what the difference is between your analysis and theirs. Just watch and have your own thoughts is all I'm saying.

First of KK, I made my judgement before I heard them talk about it. If you'll notice, my first comment on his glovehand was before last nights game. I was happy to see that I wasn't the only one to notice that. I'm a goalie and when I watch hockey games I keep my eye on the goalies where as the majority probably follow the puck.
Maybe if you had at a least a pea brain knowledge of the position(see, you insult and get insult back ) your comments would have some credibility. I look at a guy like Toskula who is a very small goalie but has an amazingly quick glovehand, even when on his knees. At that level you can't use the...he was on his knees and thus can't catch the puck....excuse. If you can't do that at that level then you shouldn't be there!!! Check out the other goalies, they can do it!!

future hall of famer Bob Gainey

Yeah, you know what you are talking about!!! He was elected in 1992!!!
Again your credibility goes out the window!!!

I noticed the his glove hand well before the playoffs, I do watch the game and understand it. I played Jr. hockey and I dont usually have the volume on while watching the game. Maple I agree that he shouldnt be in the net but he is and he is doing good considering the fact he is young, a rookie and playing for Montreal. Montreal has to be the hardest team in the NHL to be a goaltender, the fans expect nothing but great goaltending including me. It does take a few years for a goalie to develop proper skills in the NHL, it`s called experience and I think we could all agree to that. Price is the future just Marc Andre Fleury is in Pitt. I remember that Fleury didnt start out so well but is playing great now. Biron is holding his ground and stone walling the Hab`s, playing great and deserves the credit . Price has a long way to go and will improve and strengthen his weakness. Getting the hook was a good thing and maybe Halak will start next game, another young goalie. Remember that all the critics didnt even expect Montreal to make the playoffs yet they finished first in the east, I think they are doing a fine job. I guess that if people dont have their team to cheer for they tend to nit pick and look for a team to hate and why not the Hab`s . If Toronto could get their act together and atleast make the playoffs and have a Leafs and Hab`s battle that would be fun to watch. I mean really Toronto have been in the rebuilding process for 41 years and Montreal has their team, just needs fine tuning . If you are gonna nit pick look in your own backyard, cant win a Stanley Cup with a golf club, it dont take a hockey player to figure that out. Philly leads the series 2 games to 1 , Hab`s need to win the next one to have a chance but atleast they have a chance. Hab`s for life.

Price isn't playing his best that is true, but we can't put it all on him. 2 of those goals last night he had no chance because he couldn't see. I love the Habs of course but his team isn't helping him out a whole lot. It was kinda funny how as soon as Halak comes in the team defends their zone, but when Price is there it's like they figure they don't have to or something.

I agree with you guys you cant put the blame on the kid sure hes young hes holding his own but hes not getting any goal support . You might get by the first round hardly scoring but as u go further into the playoffs you have to be able to put the puck in the net more consistent. Iam a Habs fan and I tell you Philly could be up very easly 3-0 Also speaking as a hockey fan that knows alot about the game I think Philly is tougher and Montreal is smaller and faster but Montreal is off there game looking over theres shoulders all the time cause Philly is hitting everything thats in a white or red jersey

Maple......It's Toskala, not Toskula, if you were a true Leaf fan you'd know that, or maybe you large brain didn't know how to spell it or maybe because CBC's hockey commentators didn't tell you how to spell it so you're not completely sure. I have played alot of hockey in my time and for a period of about 12 years there I got paid for it. Credibility? you want to talk about credibility? the fact that you say that "at that Level" he should be able to get his glove up, from his knees on an NHL shooter ( they probably shoot harder than guys in your league believe it or not). In case you didn't know high caliber hockey players will shoot it close to the body of a goalie to score...if the puck is going 85 plus miles an hour from 20 feet out and I fire it 2 inches off your catching shoulder you're not getting it if you're on your knees.......if you're standing up you see it and move your body to block it..........because you own pads and a helmet doesn't make you a hockey player....playing the game does. From the garbage you have written here I'd be highly surprised if you played anything above high school........if that. Keep your stick on the ice.

Wow, Dallas leads the series 3 to zip over the Sharks , I didnt think that would happen. The Pens recovered nice after the Rangers made a comeback in the game, now the Pens could sweep again , wow. I always look for Detroit to do well, regular season and playoffs, they always look strong. Hab`s need to win tonight if not it will be time to dust off the clubs and get ready for the greens. I love playoff hockey. Hab`s for life.

Habs are in trouble Moe Dee, they outshot philly by a large margin the other night but most shots were from the outside and not many, a handful really, challenged Biron who is in "the zone" right now. For the first time since the playoffs began Montreal( as a team) don't seem too intrested in going in the dirty areas to make things happen. Speed alone will not beat Philly they are a gritty team that pays the price for every inch of ice they get. I watched some of Dallas' game last night. That team is fast, hardworking and skilled. Ribeiro and Richards have something special going on there. Turco, who also has a scouting report of weak to the glove side( Maple), is playing really well and moving the puck to these fast forwards. he caught San Jose on at least 4 line changes last night with passes through three zones........If the Habs lose tonight , I agree with you, book a tee time...........
