| I's Chivalry dead??? Posted: 4/10/2006 3:43:45 PM | Well as a single female who dates men who say they are gentleman i think chivalry has a diferent meaning in 2006 than it did 20 years ago.
Men seem to think all women are all for womens lib and tend nt to open car doors or any doors for that matter.
They seem to think that chivalry means being on time... and paying for dinner... and then expected sex at the end of the night... lol
I would just like to meet a man who says he is a gentleman...and actually turns out to BE A GENTLEMAN...
WHAT HAPPENED TO OLE FASHIONED DATING?
A night out with a nice man... maybe a dance... and a kiss at the door at the end of the night... followed by a mid morning phone call the next day.
Maybe i am asking way to much from a man???

| I's Chivalry dead??? Posted: 4/10/2006 9:29:18 PM | | She's right....chivalry cannot die unless we as individuals choose to not exhibit it. Personally, I'll never let it die! | |
|
| I's Chivalry dead??? Posted: 4/10/2006 9:30:24 PM | | GOOD BOY!!!! I will do my best to encourage that it not die!!! | |
|
| I's Chivalry dead??? Posted: 4/11/2006 4:58:46 AM | | I think the problem with chivalry is that this womens lib has gone to far......I will probably be sh*t on for this next statement but i am a female who is very independan: I dont need a man for any "men" related jobs such as fixing the sink etc...but I still think that men are suppose to be the stronger sex phsically and the women emotionally....That is why God intended for a child to have both a mother and a father....The laws of nature have been tampered with because women have gone overboard with this equality bit.... | |
|
| I's Chivalry dead??? Posted: 4/11/2006 5:09:10 AM | I agree with you.....I too and very independant......But when I was married a cooked supper on the table every night for my ex husband when he got home; had the house clean and tidy and the kids taken care of......I believed that if a man is working all day he should be entitled to a bit of luxury....but at the same time a woman deserves something back as well...Back years ago the familyl structure was happier for the most part...I know some of you will say that it just seemed that way because no one believed in divorce...but they may be so but these days it is to easy to quit a marriage.....Maybe society should go back and learn how our grandparents and greatgrand parents lived......The sad part about our society today is that no one has respect for anyone.....I love it when a man holds the door for me or just makes me feel like I am important......There is nothing that makes a woman feel special when a strange man just smiles at her and says good morning.....or moves out of the way to let her pass when walking down the street.....
Just my opinion..... | |

| I's Chivalry dead??? Posted: 4/11/2006 6:16:26 AM | No its not,
I see many chivalorous acts everyday...
I can open doors my self but I like and appreciate it when a gentleman opens a door or lets me go first. I always smile and say thankyou.. Unlike ** some **women who I see expect the door to be held open and they will simply push past nay a thankyou to the chivalorous gent.. baaaaad mmaners

| I's Chivalry dead??? Posted: 4/11/2006 6:28:14 AM | | I do everything for myself!!! It would be nice to have someone who could help though! I hate it when I meet men and I can fix more things than they can. I lose respect for them for some reason. I think it may be because my dad is sooooo handy (can fix anything) and I think all men should be like him! Its so deeply ingrained in my thoughts that it makes it very hard to settle down. I have always said to myself that I want to marry a man just like my dad - with all of his great qualities and nothing less will do - I hope they still make them like my Dad - I really do - otherwise its lonelyville for this little black duck! hahaha! | |

| I's Chivalry dead??? Posted: 4/11/2006 7:15:50 AM | | Well i'm not sure about other people, but it's alive and well with in me. U see i was raised to treat women with respect and dignity. But the main part of my raising was to be a gentleman, if i'm on a date or even when i'm not i open the ladies door for her and pull out her chair for her at restaurants. If she is cold i give her my jacket or coat. You see i believe that women should be treated like princesses or queens. In my opinion if everyone did this people would be alot more polite towards one another and it makes me feel good inside as it makes me feel as if i have done a good deed, dont go saying that i'm a push over or soft, its just that i treat people and help people the way i want to be treated and not being selfish. | |

How long has it been since someone held open a door for you, or a stranger smiled at you and said 'Hello' just to be friendly?. ============================ If a woman does these things its civility. If a man holds a door open for you it's chavaunism, if a stranger smiles at your or if a man says hello to a stranger its stalking. ================================= Is it long gone do we take offence when someone does offer to do something nice just to be nice ?.. ============================= We certainly do. Last time I went camping I was fully set up when a few girls, turned up. Girls who had obviously never erected a tent before, and were geting stuck. I offered to help and a couple of real attitude problems turned really nasty calling me a chauvanist pig. ( Who was that Kiwi girl who was just called a coon.? I think she was called a coon for knocking back a date. Not for offering to help somebody.)
I just walked away and left them to it.
And let their tent blow down that night when the winds came up. ================================
i experienced an act of chivalry 3 months ago ..i had a flat tyre id just finished work so i was on the way home it was 38plus degrees that day when my tyre blew out ..so out i got ..proceeded to jake the car up and took the tyre off ..now in all that time there where trucks cars and even the local fire brigade just drive past ..But an elderly man stopped got out and said he would do it for me ..how could i say no he was so sweet ..so thats one case of chivalry i have experienced. ============================
Once again men have ended up in court for extending this kind of courtesy to strangers. You were very lucky he stopped. Certainly a younger man would not have done so. It's easier for an older man to convince a court that he had nothing sexual or malacious in mind.
