| Who lies more?? Men or Women? Posted: 6/9/2006 3:48:04 PM | | OOOOOhhhh I think this can be a touchy subject. I have had men stand in my face and bareface lie when I had the facts, and still wont tell the truth. So what does a woman do..... accept these lies........HELL NO! Womans intuition never fails..... | |

| people lie Posted: 6/9/2006 8:42:46 PM | have found that the more someone insists that they are honest and trustworthy, the more likely they are to be compulsive liars. If you are honest, people will figure that out by your actions, seeing that you actually do what you say, and you won't have to go around proclaiming your trustworthyness.
You couldnt of said it better!!!

| Who lies more?? Men or Women? Posted: 6/11/2006 12:04:02 AM | I grew up with a saying: "A lie has short legs". Since then I've seen countless examples of being caught by own web of lies. To lie is to remember it and what a waste of space to keep track on spelled out 'porky-pies'! How someone can indulge in this kind of thrill is beyond me. Who lies more? Gender has nothing to do with it. It is that fine fibre of character that is either straight or bent. | |

| Who lies more?? Men or Women? Posted: 6/11/2006 2:51:29 AM | To lie effectivly requires a brilliant memory, as mine is terrible i don`t lie. I think it is equal for both men or women, having said that i seem to always pick men who lie. | |

| Who lies more?? Men or Women? Posted: 7/15/2006 8:19:50 PM | Honestly, I think women lie more. But not because they're any worse than men, just think men are more likely to tell you to suck it up or eat knuckles, so to speak, while a woman will use more guile than naked aggression.
But really, who gives a shit? If it was ever proven one way or another which lies more, would it mean anything? Why not a survey on who pees more? Honestly...

| Who lies more?? Men or Women? Posted: 7/18/2006 4:23:50 PM | | OK don't shoot me girls.....but I think women lie more. We are more imaginatitive. Some of the stuff us women can come up with can be unbelievable. Men tend to just hold things in and not say a word about what bad things they may be up to, where women will think and plan about what she can say. | |

| Who lies more?? Men or Women? Posted: 7/18/2006 4:54:06 PM | Effectively managing the flow of information is critical to the courtship ritual in my opinion.
You've surely seen it yourselves between courting or married friends...various deceptions and plays are undertaken, sometimes in order to keep the courtship thriving, sometimes to maintain autonomy...the reasons are legion.
Trust levels ebb and flow in all relationships. If a tidal pattern is achieved that both like, they stay together. If a normal water mark is not achieved for both, the relationship is swamped or dries up.
It is when someone gets swamped or suffers from drought that they will cry out..."He LIED to me!!" "She is a LIAR!!".
This is why you see so many profiles demanding "honesty"...those people have been recently or badly stung, or are emotionally immature.
Only a very long solid relationship can achieve a pattern of behavior most of us would think of or describe as having a reliably truthful partner.
Getting to that point requires people to be open to the fact that two do not become as one quickly or without setbacks along the way.
That is what I think.
I now predict those here with a track record of speaking against me every time I post will say "That's a fancy way of admitting he's a liar."
To that I say in advance: Good luck to you in forming solid lasting relationships.

Kudos for exercising your brain beyond a simple men/women answer. I myself liked Kitty's short answer and find it to be inherently the truest in my vast experience :)

| Who lies more?? Men or Women? Posted: 7/19/2006 2:52:39 AM | Speaking of lying: His (cg) new profile has him significantly younger than his old profile, which from what I understand was younger than he really was as well | |

| Who lies more?? Men or Women? Posted: 7/19/2006 5:20:59 AM | I don't know about the age stuff (nor guess to the motivations behind it) but I too will go to bat for CG. When I first joined POF we had some nice thoughtful convos via messages. He seemed like a very intelligent and aware individual to me and very articulate.
Whatever may come through in the forum posts, he seemed like an ok guy on a one to one level.
I don't know him well enough to call him friend but have no reason to call him enemy either. I do enjoy a lot of your posts though CG. They definately show a certain attention to awareness (save those I found a bit jaded but again, I won't speculate what brought those opinions on).
Your comments above make a lot of sense though. We judge things quite often by the overall history not the singular events within it.
