My old boss allowed his daughter to get a lower back tattoo in lieu of getting her face or belly pierced.

Good thing he didn't allow for a tongue piercing, we all know that is something to help digestion, right? The piercing is less offensive and can grow back in naturally, this young girl will do well. She should sell cars.

Well, come on very judgemental. Lables and all that...

The problem is that many people ARE judgemental... They see a "Tramp stamp" and they form an opinion.... You cannot change that... Often you may not even know there was an opinion formed... a prospective boss will not tell you that a "Tramp stamp" stepped him/her from hiring you....
People don't take time to get to know you and realistically, who would expect them to? They have no interest in you...

My G/F has Tats, including the "Tramp stamp". She had never heard the term before she got it done and from a comment she made the other day, I don't think she would have gotten it if she had heard the term before. I've noticed over the last few months that she has taken to 'hiding' her Tats a lot more when we're out. I don't mind her other Tats, in fact, they're quite unique and interesting , but the lower back one does absolutely nothing for me.

Not sure what tatoos have to do with parenting but ok................

I heard that it's because guys like to look at it while they're having sex doggy style.

I heard that too................while having sex doggystyle.
I have a gorgeous design with vines, leaves, and lil heart shaped flowers on my lower back. I got it when I was 18, and still love it. I dont walk around with my pants sagging so one only see's it if we are intimate. I do have tattoos on my arms, ankles, shoulderbldes, and clavicle, tha are very visible, and meant to be. Never had any issues with employment or getting to know somsosne because of them. qwuite the opposite, I get many people coming up to look at them and ghave made friends that way.

The funniest place I ever got a compliment on my "tramp stamp", was in the maternity ward, by the anathesiologst giving me and epidural. We talked about tattoos while he was sticking a neddle in my spine.

Tatoos are a big turn-off for me personally. I especially hate the lower back ones. This is in no way meant to offend anyone but it's just my personal opinion. I find them very common and low-class looking.

Tattoos make you special and are an expression of a persons individuality.....Truth be told the higher up the educational and intellectual food chain you go the less tattoos you will see I think that says it all.

OP, no way would I let a 14 yr. old get a tat. Teenagers change their minds with the wind. Tats are something that you have contemplated and made a commitment to have for the rest of your life. Tell her you'll take her when she's 18. But by then she'll be able to go by herself to get one.

The idea that "tramp stamp" says "easy" is nonsensical. You can be a slut with no tattoos. There are a lot of women who have those, but I don't think all men go around thinking they're sluts just because someone unofficially called them "tramp stamps". I'm sure it is meant for a guy who is doing her doggy style. Nothing wrong with that. I have a good friend who has a tramp stamp. She is in a LTR with a very HOT guy for over 3 years. She is also...gasp...51 or 52 and no she doesn't look like what many may think a 51 year old would look.

As for tats in general, a lot of the stigma has been taken out of it. It really is body art and as adults we can do with our bodies as we please and I'm proud of mine (no low back tattoo).

14 yr and tattoos?! I would say no. No because tattoos on on females look bad. Also no because instead of what kind of symbol a tattoo on a lower back means, should be learning and thinking about math, science, philosophy, language (etymology), etc.

You are so wrong there.... Many men actually do think that lower back tats are a sign of a slut... I'd bet that over 50% do in fact think that.... Whether that's right or wrong is irrelevant... it's what they think....

I never thought tattoos made some one look sluty, as if that would turn most guys off any ways lol. Me I have all ways avoided prudes. You know the dates that you can bet money on it not leading any were. I would bet most men would rather go out with a women with a back tattoo then a prude, but it takes all kinds to make this world.

The main concern I'd have with a tattoo on the lower back would concern the potential medical concerns if she ever required an epidural (for whatever reason) in the future. There is (or was) some controversy (which may have been "solved" by now for all i know ) that sticking a needle through the tattoo may introduce some of the ink etc. into the meninges and cause problems.

Well having a lower back tattoo and getting an epidural I can say that I had no complications from it.

I have 4 tattoos all together..maybe 5? lol...nope just 4 ..ok and quite honestly, I don't know many people with tattoos that give a flying F bomb what others think about their tattoos or the placement of said tattoos.

Probably. But the point I'm trying to make is that the tat doesn't signify whether she is a prude or a slut. Unless the woman is having sex with a guy that she just met and he sees her tat then he's liable to draw the conclusion of low back tat= slut simply because of what it has been named. By the same token her skin could be tattoo free and if she does the same thing he'll still label her as "easy", "slutty", etc. A guy can never definitively equate this tattoo placement and draw a proper conclusion. Frankly, I wouldn't even want to be with someone who questions my morals because of where a tat is placed on my body. Now when it come to teenage girls and a tattoo of any kind, I'd say it should be a definite no.

Of course it's a generalization and will never hold true for EVERYONE. There is USUALLY a modicom of truth in such things though.

LOTS of people that get tattoo's LOVE to be looked at and have the attention, guess what a great way for a girl to get attention is? Sex? Could it stand to reason that many who like attention from tattoo's may be more open to sex? Just MAYBE?

"lower back tattoo, might as well be a bullseye". Wedding Crashers.

this is a subject that goes on and on and i think people should not be judgemental as to what a woman has tattooed on her lower back.some are for it others are not,i for one am for it as it could be of a design that the lady wants and she feels happy on having it

There's not a design I could possibly think of that I want to look at for the rest of my life.

My 14 year old daughter? Not only no but Hail No!
