depends on how big the group is.. if theres a huge crowd of people Ive been known to just keep to myself. If someone comes up and says hi.. I'll say hi back but can be pretty reserved... unless Im drinking...lol then.. it's a gong show

Yup! Small groups I am okay with, but in big groups I am fairly reserved. That is unless I have done enough ...then I am sleeping in a corner..

Actually,
I tend to come off shy sometimes and others..not so much. I am not sure if it is shyness or apathay. Sometimes i just am not social and really just dont care about trying.

If I feel shy i just take a deep breath and go. If you want to be cool, put on low rider and do the gone in 60 seconds nic cage thing!!!! its like a modern day fonzie move and after that you have to be confident...or you seem like a freak

is stewing the same as brewing?? lol

I think everyone has there moments when it comes to shyness. Might not be at this point in your life but you were probably shy at one time. Apparently I was painstakingly shy when I was really young..and I was also afraid as men as a toddler (lol please refrain from the bashing comments) My parents told me that when I was really young, my grandfather would look at me and I start screaming.. tears running down my face... it was a horrible scene... Could only imagine how that made him feel... if he even remembers now lol

like i said i am hit or miss with being social. once i get on a tear well... ya not shy at all but i liek to have a few people i know around. I get a lil out of place at times and so need some time to get my bearings and well soemtimes i just cant be bothered. But i think we all have self concious anti social moments...its how you deal with that anxiety that counts

Definately not shy!! I used to be, but apparently I really like the lime light. Now, don't get me wrong, I can definately get tongue tied if there is someone that I am interested in, and then you can't get me to say two words, other then that, you can't get me to shut up!

I echo the comments of those that have not attended a gathering yet - that's how I feel but I'm going to try

If I am attracted to someone I tend to be a little shy at first. Just don't want to say the wrong thing but once I get to know them a bit I open up. Besides why is it that the guy always has to be the one to decide and entertain things. Its nice when a lady will take some initative and open the doors like lets go for a drive, a walk, stroll on the beach. I do try to hide my shyness sometimes but inside I am just shakin like a leaf, lol. Oh well I know I am not the only one so you all have a good day...

Definitely not the only one. I struggle with it all the time. People may laugh at me because it doesn't seem like it on here, or through msn or on the phone but in person, it is entirely different.

I think in all honesty, the older I get the more shy I have become. When I was younger I had no problem, I was the life of the party. Now I am a tad more reserved, and VERY shy when I first meet someone, especially crowds.
I have thought of going to a POF meet, but there would be soo many peolpe!!

I am shy with maintaining eye contact initially if I am attracted to someone. In fact, I may even appear aloof but it all depends how they are interacting with me. If it is someone in a grocery store or on the street, then yeah, I'll often look away and then look a moment later. It happens so quick, I don't catch myself doing it until after the fact, otherwise I'd actually smile! If they approached me at that time though, I would be a tad shy but fine. Strange how that works. Other times, say with a date sitting opposite me, if I am attracted to him I will start to fidget, look away or down for a moment, apparently quite obviously in a shy manner and then come back and then look away again, lol. But hey, at least I smile during that time! If they start teasing me it makes it that much worse, but it's all good fun

I am very shy, which unfortunately some people read as being abnoxious or snobbish. :( I'm really not. I just...am extremely nervous around people I don't know and don't want to say anything that would make me look like an idiot.

The internet is another story. Thank god for anonymity.

Ahhhh, HL, got to love your humour, your so graciously funny.

Me thinks that you would be more of the life of the party, , rather then being shy.

Gettin wrong ideas about you changin your shirt, naaaaa, never even thought about it, not even for one second.

Sincerely
And
Best Wishes

GLBTH,
I'm graciously funny? I'm not sure how I am but either way thank you for the compliment. :) I'm more of a wallflower though at parties not one to draw major attention my way and when it does accidentally come my way I try my best to make the time short and sweet. I enjoy watching others more than being watched.
