Posted: 4/7/2006 1:30:09 PM | Hey Bluelicorice, I just had an awesome idea to solve your picture problem. If you go to the big party in Nanaimo tomorrow and meet all the awesome people. Not only that you have such a good time you will wonder what you were so scared for. Somebodey will take your picture and there you go two birds killed with one stone. Thats how I got my picture of my tongue. You will have been to your first POF event and you will have a picture to put up.

Posted: 4/7/2006 8:43:45 PM | I have definately had to work up the courage to get out and socialize but if you don't you are pretty much stuck with Dust Bunnies as companions. I still struggle a bit with shyness.. I am new to POF and have to get out to one of the activities. Are there any bowling evenings. I think bowling can be fun...once in a while.

I went to my first event with a very outgoing friend and met a few people which made the next event easier and after that there was no stopping me. Some people have even accused me of being a social butterfly now which is totally out of character for me. I still have my moments though and agree that a little alcohol goes a long way to curing shyness. | |

Posted: 4/9/2006 12:51:29 AM | | OK after all these years - some has changed - group of strangers, I'm shy - it's one of the reasons some of us are here - it's hard to start conversations with a stranger - most if not as flowing since long time since the 80's partying days (ahah) work in CR no problems talking to strangers, enjoy people in general - in any group, need to test the waters first - just joined so that's what I'm doing now by joining forums, next meetings, so see how things go - I'm shy in group outings - better in smaller groups - like going out and doing things so people won't come knocking on my door - I have to do some steps so that's what I'm doing now- sometimes I'm better at writing about things than saying also - so this venue good to get things out - wish me good luck - | |

And yes, sometimes it can be misinterpreted as being snobby *sigh*. The POF events are great - everyone goes out of their way to welcome us newbies....you know who you are! | |
