I really do hate being shy though, it can be debilitating...I guess it is just a self esteem thing though...I don't know. It's part of the reason I have never attended a POF thing, though I would love to. I don't know if one can get over it really. It seems to me that sometimes I just need a drink to help me get past the shyness which in itself can't be a good thing either but I just don't know how to make myself unshy. | |

Posted: 9/25/2006 9:41:22 AM | i'm too shy for my own good....cause i know that at times it can come across the wrong way( arrogant..standoffish ).....so i tend to use alcohol to help me get through it....like the poster above said, its something i've tried to get over but its tough.....but once i know someone or they know the real me, theres no problem

I was very shy for a very long time, till my forties. My work, dealing with people a lot and life has educated me to not be so shy. Still today I am unable to chat with a lady if my intentions are to ask her for a date. I somehow do find a way to get around to it without asking the question. What ever works.

Posted: 9/27/2006 11:25:38 AM | Most people who know me wouldn't believe this, but....I really am shy in the beginning. If you put me in a room full of strangers, it does show. But once someone starts talking to me, well then....I don't shut up. LOL
Really tho, I've had to overcome a great deal of my shyness from working as a reporter and also in marketing. So I do make an effort to overcome it.
Now when it comes to guys and dating, whole different story but only in the beginning. No matter how "young" I'm getting, I just can't get past my shyness when it comes to guys. Even if I like you a whole lot, it may take everything I've got to let you know, if I do at all. Of course, if I don't, it really isn't a reflection of whether I'm interested or not....just down right SHYNESS. | |
