| | Bad Teeth, Badly Stained TeethPage 3 of 4 (1, 2, 3, 4) | I totally agree with you seeing as I am one of them. I would love to have gorgeous teeth but unfortunately I was born with a calcium defeciency (sp?) and have had teeth issues all my life. I have some permenant caps and some have fallen out during the years. Unfortunately the only thing that will help me right now is I need all my teeth pulled and I need dentures BUT I am unemployed and I surely can't afford thousands of dollars for dentures.
I can understand people who don't take care of their teeth but in my situation I had no choice.

| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 11/23/2011 5:52:25 PM | | sooooooooooooo grosss, i dated a guy once ( why i don't know temporary moment of insanity!!! or stupidity). He had like last months meal in his teeth, im ready to hurl thinking about it. Never, never, never again, clean mouth or none at all. I will walk out on a date if i ever see that again!!! | |
|
| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 11/27/2011 6:06:25 PM | | I was lucky to have straight teeth and fairly white enamel. I have seen some though, that would make me not want to date them. | |
|
| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 11/27/2011 7:20:09 PM | False teeth I can handle when they fit, but deliberately neglected teeth - ugh!
I look after my teeth. | |
|
| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 11/27/2011 8:45:16 PM | yeah i don't think i could date someone with really bad teeth...really dirty teeth usually means bad breath. no thanks.
i've always been complimented on my white, bright teeth...i take care of them. a bad smile can really ruin a first impression. it's surprising how many people out there don't take care of themselves, teeth or their body in general. i'm a bigger guy, but i take care of myself.

| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 12/3/2011 9:27:31 PM | | Is there any other way of whitening your teeth besides bleaching? I've been a pretty good brusher/flosser/rinser my whole life, but I could never really get them looking entirely white. I've heard that bleaching isn't very good for your teeth/gums and expensive. | |
|
| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 12/4/2011 5:41:56 PM | Talk to your dentist. Most people have teeth that are naturally slightly off white. If you are one of these people, other measures have to be taken if you want that fake white plastic look everyone is after these days.
It is funny because it used to be that glow in the dark, bright white teeth were a sign of dentures and now people try to get that look in natural teeth. I guess it gives the illusion they are somehow cleaner.

| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 6/30/2012 8:12:14 PM | | Some people have discoloration due to other things other than poor mouth hygiene. There is something called tetracycline that causes teeth to be streaked or stained brown /yellow.the stains are not just on the surface, but thru the entire tooth..If given to a person a s a child its a life long issue.people shouldnt make assumptions. Tooth whitening doen not last with this medical type of discoloration but for like 2 days. They must be capped, or lumineers or sumthing.800 per tooth. Im just saying, people r quick to judge a persons entire character by this.I suggest checking out the whole person. | |

| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 6/30/2012 9:46:14 PM | | what turns me off is a filthy mouth curse words and all . but finding last weeks meal in them by far the worst!! I'd never date a guy with bad teeth like that ! or one tooth lmao | |

| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 7/1/2012 1:58:30 PM | | Someone told me which I agree someone having good teeth makes for their looks, if you have missing teeth or really bad crooked teeth, you might as well put a paper bag over your face when you go out in public. Cause it makes you a UGLY person, I saw someone put you might as well not shower or dress nice. What is the point? I think it is just LAZINESS not taking care of your hygiene. Now I do realize maybe that was harsh to say, and someone might think I am ugly, I am not a supermodel and never thought I was. But at least I have straight and decent teeth. I brush twice a day and use whitening stuff even though I do smoke. But I still look after my teeth. | |

| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 7/3/2012 7:23:09 AM | Ok , now i'm a little pissed off.
You people really need to differentiate the difference between poor Hygiene and circumstances that may be beyond a person control to a degree.
Case in point, My teeth are not perfect and i have struggled with numerous issues for years with them. Yes i even lost a few molars. Medication i was on and still on has side effects of damaging my teeth and the root system including the enamel. Its been and will continue to be an ongoing battle in my life. I brush twice if not 3 times a day and very concious of my oral health and hygiene.
I haven't had the pleasure of enjoying a Dorito chip, an almond or Brazil nut or even popcorn in a very long time because the brittleness of my teeth makes it a risk to eat these things. I lost half a molar eating some popcorn and bit into a kernel a few years back and the remaining half was so loose it had to go.
If your going to shoot people down for not having the level of oral perfection some of you obviously have reached at least have half a brain and inform yourselves on the information freely available on the internet.

| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 7/5/2012 9:40:06 AM | | For me stained, mold coloured stuff in between the teeth, bad breath, dirty or yellowish untrimmed toenails and finger nails turn me right off..ewww | |

| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 7/13/2012 3:05:14 AM | | some medications can affect the condition of teeth too, and dental care is not cheap. so while someone can do all the can to look after their teeth there can be others factors. and dental work takes time :S | |

in my opinion what makes a person ugly is an attitude like that of the person who used those words. I have a couple of teeth missing, and in the looooong process of getting them fixed, and not once has my dress sense, personality or appearance been overlooked because of it.

| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 8/6/2012 6:13:59 PM | | Cheeky and Kicking, both of you are so on point! Dental work IS expensive! I am blesssed to have good dental insurance, and good credit, so I can afford to pay the $8,000 it is going to cost to save my teeth due to circumstances beyond my control. But others aren't so fortunate.......dental problems are very different from the person, say, who will not take a shower on the regular even though soap only costs $2.00 a bar. I'm so glad that all these folks on here "got the cash like that"......(being sarcastic, here!) | |

| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 8/16/2012 10:34:54 AM | | Agree with all points made so far. When someone hides the fact they have 'bad' teeth, honesty has gone out the window. I know judging ppl in that manner isn't right, but hey, who wants to look at 'rotting' teeth when talking or something else....I don't! Such a turn off ...fro me at least! | |

| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 8/23/2012 5:59:02 PM | | Have to admit, one of the first things I look at are teeth. Shallow maybe, I guess. Just saying is all. With that said, there are other health reasons, I hear, that affect us orally. Knew a girl growing up who had kids and lost her teeth for pregnancy/birth issues, so I hurd anyhow. Very pretty girl too. I've seen her now and then and she still is very pretty. | |

Use baking soda once a week and avoid staining causing liquids and foods. If you want healthy teeth use tooth soap, it is pretty expensive but it lasts a long time and my teeth never been cleaner. I use to have bleeding gums no matter how much I flossed or brushed but using toothsoap the bleeding has stopped. The best part is that toothsoap won't make you sick if you swallow it, unlike regular tooth paste that will make you sick in the long run.

WOW, what a mean, insensitive person you must be. How would you feel if I took your statement and applied it to YOU in this manner. Like this..... "You're so fat you must shop for your clothes at Tents-r-Us and it makes you an UGLY person. You might as well not shower or dress nice. What's the point? I think it is just LAZINESS that you don't take care of your WEIGHT... EXERCISE.... GO TO THE GYM, and stop STUFFING JUNK FOOD down your throat!!!!!
So... how does that feel to you? Not very good, eh, but perhaps you get my point, though I doubt it. Not everybody is perfect and as long as a person brushes, flosses, and sees a dentist regularly, if their teeth are a shade that is not "plastic white", that's ok. Nature didn't give everybody the same attributes.

| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 9/9/2012 8:10:15 PM | | Excellent point photopilot1. This whole dental topic has been done to death and go back to any related post I made and just read it! Dental care, esp for issues costs BIG BUCKS! Personally, I have really decent teeth but I am not so JUDGMENTAL as to dismiss a potential dating partner for teeth alone!!! I can't help it if I have strong teeth - not anyone's fault if you are not so lucky! My belief is that dental care should be part of OHIP, but unfortunately it is not. Dental health and physical health are part and parcel. So much so that the "dentally challenged" partner I met here on POF is now my HUSBAND of 4 years! If I had been so JUDGMENTAL I would have missed the perfect catch!! And he almost did not respond to me because of his shyness about his teeth. Character can't be changed, but appearance makes people insecure. I'd go for character ANY day! Anyone who claims bad teeth are caused by laziness can (oh nevermind. ..delete due to extremely foul language) | |

| Bad Teeth, Badly Stained Teeth Posted: 9/10/2012 5:44:01 AM | I love my teeth when they are Tarred black with a crusty yellow with a bit of chipped teeth. It's mighty sexy to the women's eyes.
Yet I do have 2 vampire teeth (one on each side) I never went to the dentist, but always brushed between meals and each day.

Not all peoples teeth are "icky" because they lack personal hygiene, that is a pretty ignorant assumption to make.
I agree, I have bad teeth and it runs in my family. It's a medical condition and every male on my dads side of the family had their teeth remove before they were 25. I'm 35 and my teeth have been breaking since I was 14. I have never had the money to remove them, so the just keep getting worse. I think it's pretty bad to assume that I don't have personal hygiene, when it really isn't my fault. I went and got an estimate on what it would cost to remove them and the dentist told me $2500-$3000...and that's just removal, didn't even bother getting the price of falsies.
