| Parables of Dreams Prose or Poems Posted: 5/4/2006 7:36:25 AM | Hi there not sure if this fits your criteria, but I thought I would post it anyway, its a different twist on a dream poem...
thanks for the great reads..
Lost and all alone I wandered around Surrounded by darkness, loneliness and fear Hugging myself hoping to stop the shakes From the creatures of the night that I hear
Howling winds echo the sounds Making them louder in the stillness of the night Silently I pray for safety and salvation And the passing of my own fright
My mind is on overload Seeing eyes staring back at me Red glowing eyes of the night Just out of range for the eye to see
Unable to see the creature the eyes belong to But I know its stalking me Legs start moving faster out of fright Hoping that I would find the way to flee
Growling sounds of hunger and need Are closer to me as I run from a fight Pounding steps surround me holding me here In the darkness of the night
Sweat pouring down my face again Suddenly I awake shaking from fear Finding faith in the night again With welcoming sounds that I hear
The nightmare haunts my nights It’s trying to relay a message to me One day I will find the answers To solve the riddle of the dream and sleep free…

"when you look at it that way...." "listen, " he said, "it's important. We are all. Free. To do. Whatever. We want. To do."
Every Person, all the events of your life are there because you have drawn them there. What you choose to do with them is up to you.
A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at such a speed.
It feels an impulsion...this is the place to go now. But the sky knows the reasons and the patterns behind all clouds, and you will know too, when you lift yourself high enough to see beyond horizons.

I remember ... at Seventeen A seed of a tree Wet to a dream,
I remember... at Nineteen Dusting the square cuts ...Dreaming... I want a house Just like this One day
The tree grew limbs And limbs grew hands To touch a glimpse
Then in time
Amongst the pines South-west lights Warm the maple Barefoot And quilted beds Aloft a breeze As summers heat Winter burns Days to nights Slowly;
Now,
I am a tree Dry in a dream And what is a house Without Trees.

is it a damn listening in silence? is it a screaming in impatience?
dreams have become feeling touching what is beyond myself what is beyond you
i thrill to your touch i ache for that thought of being one two souls as one
damn dreams and their endless fascination with reality separate alone

is it a damn listening in silence? is it a screaming in impatience? Another nice one lyricmuse!! Man I like your stuff! This gave me a few more images/questions, if you don't mind...
Is it a lightshow in darkness? Untouchable A cosmic mind projector Singular and collective movie making (usually shorts) Projecting images of the imaginable past present and future, past on in/through, sleep state...?
oh silly om...:) | |

Dream your dream as big as you wish Picture what you will Dream your dream as small as you wish Dreams are there to fill Dream your dream as clear as you wish Visions up to you Dream your dream as well as you wish Your dreams will see you through
yeah, you know, us fish are suppose to be the dreamers...lol I couldn't help but think..lol... the dream state is not unlike reality really, The parallels are there...The only difference I see is it's limited to 'physical' form and action...or non action... But who's to say there are limits in this state...? Is this all just a collective dream..? Oh silly om, daydreaming again..lol ok, i'm dreaming of cutting the grass now... I'm dreaming my son will do it though...for free..lol

| Parables of Dreams Prose or Poems Posted: 5/13/2006 11:47:24 PM | Thank you om. I am humbled by your praise. I must admit to feeling listless and poetically dead in a way. My soul is tired and lost. Dreams keep me hanging on by a thread; reality is...
silence haunts me i find myself surrounded by this silence it beckons to me like a long lost brother a saint in mysterious disguise
is it possible to make dreams true? or will dreams be all that is left for me you drive me onward sustained in solitude i only wish I understood
Images of the imaginable past present future they are my lifeboat my drowning my saviour
I thank all those kind souls I've met through the sharing of thoughts and ideas...a baring of the soul... Thank you!!!

If you will practice being fictional for a while, you will understand that fictional characters are sometimes more real than people with bodies and heartbeats..
and from my own reveries *smile:
Can we breathe reality into the dreams that soak us like an early morning dew haunting our days or are we destined to keep relearning how to liberate our spirits until we learn to navigate time to a present merged with past and future where lonliness never existed

| Parables of Dreams Prose or Poems Posted: 5/23/2006 6:18:33 PM | I am going to keep working on this until it says what I want it to say, second attempt.
Chimera II
sometimes I meet you in my dreams you magically appear on a swirling wind me a hollow tree, limbs outstretched you circle feverishly around me melting me into a liquid amber sparkling with remnants of our dust from another life, another time, another place
We chose this life you know unable to touch the time here will soon seem like seconds when we meet again but, my soul screams, just for today let's pretend it is our forever
I will be waiting tonight when you come to me in my dreams reminding me again we will be as we once were in that ancient life we shared the yearning inside dissolved when you breathe a rainbow colored whisper on my lips and we become Immortal
First Attempt:
Chimera I
magically appearing on a swirling wind timeless I inhaled a rainbow colored breath of your essence deep inside releasing my soul to paint the beauty of the one you await in a rapturous breeze that makes your steps feather light

| Parables of Dreams Prose or Poems Posted: 5/23/2006 7:18:55 PM | orange moon shines brightly magnolia scent surrounds me but you are not there
i released myself into that harvest moon beam trying to reach you

| Parables of Dreams Prose or Poems Posted: 5/23/2006 8:34:00 PM | drea, After reading so many of your breath taking words that sometimes seem to put me into my own dreams or maybe trance like state, I thought of these words for you. Being the great poet you are I am sure you have seen his work.
"Poetry" KAHLIL GIBRAN
Poetry is the sacred incarnation of a smile and a sigh which dries tears. It is a spirit which settles in the soul whose heart is nourishment and wine is affection. Poetry which does not appear in this form is a false Messiah.
Poet, examine your crown of thorns and you will see that within it is concealed a living crown of laurel.
O true poets, forgive us. We belong to the new world where men pursue material possessions. Poetry, today, is a consumer product and not a breath of immortality. If the spirits of Homer, Vigil, Al-Maary, and Milton had known that poetry would become the lap-dog of the rich, they would have left the world, their tongues and their ears would have been cut off, their pens and their writings burned.

| Parables of Dreams Prose or Poems Posted: 5/23/2006 9:03:05 PM | Thank you so much Italian Ice!! Tho I have on old love affair with Kahlil, I do not remember that one. I am emailing to find out which book it came from.
Kahlil Kahlil Kahlil Mary murmured his name unrequited love that damn age thing but she was with him until the end and after ....Mary Haskell kept decades of interesting journals on Gibran. A treasure to read.
I loved your comment about the 'trance like state'. I feel that same feeling and inspiration from some of the poets on pof myself and they are my muse *smile. I could not write a word without them sending me to that dream ether myself I think!!
|
| Parables of Dreams Prose or Poems Posted: 5/23/2006 10:34:49 PM | Drea...you are a miracle of prose!!! I am so consumed with images and words that I don't even know where to begin. I need to read and think. I need to riff here...
rainbow colored breath of your essence
damn, it is a calling and pulling I feel short, it's essence of color holds me
spellbound and wordless my words are not enough
damn, it's calling me and feeding me long, it's essence should be mine
Enough riffing!!! I'm losing that thought...you know the one...that reaches out so insistantly and then leaves you hanging!?!

Where are you our burning crow whose words flow like perfect wine and have the gift of giving voice to our thoughts? How long do we have to repeat this mantra You matter! I matter, WE matter! Your cloud looks so dark and lonely distanced from all the others now.
(Told you Om I would steal your cloud analogy)
Lyricmuse:
spellbound and wordless my words are not enough
I know the feeling well 'no words, no words, they should have sent a poet' often plays like a record in my mind my words are never enough just as the artist's soul cursed with visions when all limbs have been severed so he must learn to master the winds to paint what he feels inside
I simply stare, spellbound and wordless until sometimes another cloud bumps into me and breaks the chains that bind my soul fitting like a jigsaw puzzle allowing me to draw from their energies so it is your words I write, not my own I am just tapping into those clouds that surround me

| Parables of Dreams Prose or Poems Posted: 5/24/2006 11:51:05 AM | Thanks to Italian-ice whose name DOES NOT fit somehow LOL, for renewing my love of Gibran.
An expression of that sacred desire to find this world and behold it naked; and that is the soul of the poetry of Life. Poets are not merely those who write poetry, but those whose hearts are full of the spirit of life. (Extract from one of Gibran's letters dated 17th July 1915)
Get Drunk and Go Naked
when I was in high school there used to be a saying 'let's get drunk and go naked' I say everyone should get together and get drunk on life and go naked with their souls how many would run away screaming? Would you?
oh I can not resist this one..sighssssss...
That deepest thing, that recognition, that knowledge, that sense of kinship began the first time I saw you, and it is the same now - only a thousand times deeper and tenderer. I shall love you to eternity. I loved you long before we met in this flesh. I knew that when I first saw you. It was destiny. We are together like this and nothing can shake us apart. (Gibran's words quoted from Mary Haskell's journal dated 12th March 1922)
note: tho gibran asked her to marry him, Mary would not due to age and race issues.
Thanks again Italian-ice!!
