| | Night Shift....Page 2 of 3 (1, 2, 3) | I used to work night shift as an RN in a busy ICU back in the UK. I would regularly work 7-10 nights straight with very little sleep, as I had a problem sleeping during the day........
The problem was on my days off, I could not sleep at night, so I became a late night tv addict........
Years later, I seem to have permanent insomnia, but now instead of watching the late night shows, I post on the pof forums..........!! I have made so many friends on this site, it passes many a sleepless night in Shalimar!!

| Night Shift.... Posted: 1/9/2008 12:57:40 PM | I work on the night shift. You get better hours and better pay when you do where I work. Plus, it sure beats having to get up early in the morning too. I get off work at 10 pm. If I preferred, I could party half the night and sleep in without having to worry about getting up at 5 am like at my last job. I don't start work till 4 pm, so it's not really much of a big deal. | |

| Night Shift.... Posted: 1/10/2008 1:00:17 AM | I work 7p-7a 3 nights a week. I find that I can't sleep at night on the nights that I am off. So here I am posting a comment at 3 am. Watch out when the sun comes out though. I get very sleepy and I keep my room cool and dark. I lovingly refer to it as the bat cave. Luckily the guy I met on pof also works nights so we talk alot at night. However, our schedules are opposite so getting together for an actual date can be quite difficult. | |

| Night Shift.... Posted: 1/10/2008 7:32:42 AM | I used to be one of the "Night People", worked a few of the swing shift (5pm to 2am) or graveyard, and loved it. Got more work done, it was quiet, peaceful, fewer management distractions, did not have to get involved in office politics, and met a lot of other interesting folks- mostly getting mid-shift coffee at a local cafe.
Look up "Night People" + "Jean Shepherd". I believe he coined the phrase during his radio show. Some very funny bits came out of that show. Yes, he's the same Jean Shepherd of 'Christmas Story' fame.

| Night Shift.... Posted: 1/10/2008 8:17:56 PM | I work nights also, I prefer it way more then either day, or evening shift,
Ain't nothin like goin too work at night, and it's still night when you get off work, plus it is so much more relaxing, and you can get more done durig the day, and still get plenty of sleep before going back too work

| Night Shift.... Posted: 1/11/2008 8:50:26 AM | I do the 7p to 7a shift 3 days a week, rotating every 3rd weekend and on call days. I can work my weekend and just a few more days straight and then have almost a mini vacation with a week to 9 days off if I work the schedule juuuuuuuuuuuust right!
I like it. I like it alot!

| Night Shift.... Posted: 1/12/2008 11:25:03 AM | | I hate the night shift. Have worked it before and just dont like it. On my job I just got moved back on nights and I am not thrilled at all. On my job nights are 10pm to 6am Sunday night thru Thursday Night. I dont like coming in on Sunday nights because to me thats still the weekend. Also I like having my nights free. Last time I did that I went straight to bed after getting off work. Its going to be more complicated now because I started back in school and my classes are in the morning. Before I was working 2 to 10pm and I love that shift so I scheduled my classes around that, then I get hit with a work schedule change. What can you do, you gotta make a living. The worst shift is days. I hate getting up at 5am. | |

| Night Shift.... Posted: 1/14/2008 12:35:50 PM | Some of the places I go to for my job have 3rd shifts. The night crew is usually more friendly, more helpful, and always horribly funny! I guess without the 'bosses' there, they feel the need to relax and enjoy their jobs.
As far as them being a bunch of horny guys/gals? I think people be that way no matter what shift they work.
I like to consider myself normal, and I'm often up in the "oh-dark-thirty" hours...

| Night Shift.... Posted: 9/25/2008 12:25:44 PM | hi i have been on nightshift for the last nine years and it does take a toll on your health, because wen you are off, you tend to stay up at night anyway, and you dont get the rest you need therefore shortening your lifespan | |
|
| Night Shift.... Posted: 9/25/2008 6:46:43 PM | | I work 7p-7a and I love it.I get plenty of rest during the day.Less stress on the job and less people so much quieter. | |

| Night Shift.... Posted: 10/10/2008 8:26:23 PM | | I work nights, 12 hour shifts. I couldn't have a relationship if I wanted one, unless he worked nights also. It is too hard. | |

| Night Shift.... Posted: 10/10/2008 9:35:07 PM | Ahh, the night shift. That is the one and only reason I sighned onto this site. It helps pass away the time and you can maybe learn a thing or two. So for me this site is great. I see alot of the posters upset because as far as internet dating goes it is dismal.
I am glad I am not here to date and with everything I've read in the forums the conclusion I've come to is love of the days of yore are gone anyway.

| Night Shift.... Posted: 10/11/2008 6:40:52 AM | | I've worked night shift often during the heavy construction season. My problem is that I can't sleep during the day. Often I've gone to bed at 7 am and been up by 10:30,and I just can't sleep anymore. The coffeepot becomes your biggest friend. | |

| Night Shift.... Posted: 10/16/2008 9:35:20 AM | ENsomniac Theator, this is when you can no longer sleep at night, I uesd to play on the FORUMS, but of late I have found a way to get to SLEEP...
I eat 2 sleeping pills, consume one Margaita, watch 2 Movies anr read the news, so I get to sleep by 4:AM and to wark by 10;AM it's not perfect, but it's better than NO SLEEP AT ALL...

| Night Shift.... Posted: 10/16/2008 6:16:13 PM | Last year was killer. After i worked the day shift, i was on call for the night shift. If i thought i might get called out, i would race home. Then i would attempt to do whatever i needed to do. Run errands, read mail, eat, etc. Then i would try my best to be in bed and asleep by 7:00pm. Not all that easy.
Then i would get the dreaded 1:00 am wake up call. And start the whole process all over again.
Pay is good, but i can forget about dating. Or flying. Or anything else.

| Night Shift.... Posted: 2/7/2009 1:19:29 AM | I'm getting that most folks’ experiences with night shift and dating is that it's very hard to near impossible. I really hope that I have better luck but I have to admit so far it's been tough. I posted a thread in the PoF suggestion forums asking them to consider adding a matching factor for a non-traditional work schedule.
If you guys think that's a good idea show your interest and post up here:

Thanks good luck to all you other day sleeping fishies!

| Night Shift.... Posted: 2/7/2009 2:14:10 AM | In the middle of a 11p to 11a shift as I type this... Fortunate that my job affords me the opportunity to "entertain" myself, although I am resricted to a sometimes "irritating" Dial Up connection.
Have been doing shift work for the last 33 years and though my shift changes every month, I normally have little trouble adjusting to each change... I think the key, [for me at least] is "regular" aerobic exercise. For those of you who can't sleep/have trouble sleeping, I highly recommend you give it a try.
As to whether I am "normal"? Depends on one's POV I guess!

I've worked the vampire shift for the last 17 years...even when I'm off I've always fallen into the up-at-night schedule.
18 for me......and yeah nights off are pretty much the same ~ up all night. lol
Anyone gets bored at night and it happens to be my night off....shoot me an email! You'll know when its my night off cuz ill be POF'n!!

| Night Shift.... Posted: 2/7/2009 4:46:29 PM | i still am onthe night shift, 7a-7p, BUT i have been off since dec 26 due to a motor vehicle crash. uggh i will be off 4 more weeks. fingers, toes and eyes crossed that i can go back at that time and not need my knee scraped out.
odd though, i worked only about 4 months, ~ 2 1/2 on the night shift and being off with my injuries, i still am sticking to most of the night shift hours.
