Posted: 6/19/2006 6:14:33 PM | It has seemed to me that men become the ones that want to get serious and settle down too fast...used to be we women were blamed for that. I think there are alot of lonely men out there who miss being married (I totally loved being married, myself..although don't see a need for a piece of paper at this point in life...that was to have children..lol) and sometimes they get serious just talking online to you. I have had people I only talk to...ok..just type to...get mad when I tell them I have a date!!! Have you had that happen much? I don't understand how people can feel this is a serious relationship when its just been mutual typing...I personally don't think I would feel much for anyone unless I at least got to look into their eyes...the windows to the soul, ya know. There are too many things you can't tell until you are face to face.
I don't think there are less pickin's....just that so many people have just given up...have gotten too used to being alone...or been burnt to many times...or just have rich, full lives and don't want to be involved. Then there is the big health and death factor...that doesn't help! | |

Posted: 6/5/2007 6:32:18 AM | Slimmer Pickens - not on POF. The problem here and on similar venues is SILENCE. Younger generations of women are not so shy. But women in the 45 -55 -65 age range come from a different social / cultural set of norms - much more reserved and waiting for the guy.

Posted: 6/5/2007 7:49:17 AM | came in late on the post , agree with tinkerbell , if you go and meet some one , anotheir person , who may have contacted me , , it maybe judged a date after the event or it may have been just a social event , one which i might enjoy repeating , without wanting to get that personal , i may just like the person , for the person they are .
and if i get a call saying theirs something on at the week end , and would i like to go ( they dont want to go alone ? lol ) be it male or female , ( not bi-sexual ) then thats great .
but you dont need p.o.f.to kick start that ,
depends what you think p.o.f can do for you .
i think its great to say , hey im here and im looking and to see who else is , i expect everthing to go wrong , planning is a defonate no go area , but ive no great expectations and as such no great dissapointments .
take it as it comes and make the most off what you have , my biggest worry is that some ex film star with loads off money would become as such my stalker , fortunatly thats as yet,not happend .
but no point living in fear off it , i will just have to let her down as gently as i can , when it does ?.
well i never said i was looking for rich , ex film stars did i . i guess thats the risk you take when u join p.o.f ?

this is so true - when I was growing up (a, long,long, time ago), it was thought of as bad manners and extremely forward for a woman to do the asking out. Since I have run into men my age here, who still think that a woman asking them out for a coffee is an invitation to sex, I am quite reluctant to make first contact (even if it did give me a good laugh ).
Yes I do know most men here don't think that way, but I have met enough of them to be leery of doing first contact. It seems like a case of damned if I do, damned if I don't. | |

OT.......I think as we all age, the abundance of potentials is reduced proportionately to your attitude and requirements.....
Life has a way of equalizing things out, both good and bad.....
