Why always fall for THE ones that we cannot have?

bucsgirl........"whoa, I'm the odd woman out". Have read your post in several treads, and we think alike in so many ways. I'm another odd women out, and glad to be that way.

"Men who are taken or otherwise unavailable hold no allure for me, none. " I don't get why anyone would A) want the unavailable B) spend any energy on failure.

Oh well, we can't all be the same. If we were, we would have nothing to chat about on the theads.

Women love a good challenge. Thats exactly why women are attracted to men who are allready attached. Is this a productive way of doing things, no. but then again this is female logic which is alway as backwards.

I never said that men don't like challenge. Men love a challenge, its rewarding when you can win over a girl. Sadly, it seldom happens and we by past a lot of good women. I do it all the time, it must be a genetic thing

They may let you seduce them; but do you really have them? Are you the one they call on Monday night for a date next week or the one they call at 8pm Saturday night when the one they want can't be found?

I met this great guy, who I connected with in everyway. A month passed and I started getting scared because it felt like the honeymoon was over in no time. He would tell me he will call and he wouldn't. He would always call the next day. I started thinking, this is the end, so I acted drastic and didn't answer when he called. I didn't call him back. I seen him two weeks later, he started seeing someone else but I told him how I felt and a lot of feelings were laid out in the open. We were both drunk, we had amazing sex. I thought we worked it out, I called him the next day, he would say he'll call me to do something and then he wouldn't. The following week, I'm out for dinner and he ends up being there, he calls me and invites me to join him and his friend. He apologized for the last weekend and again it seemed like he liked me, why would he call? We spent the night together, and he gave me a kiss good-bye and was affectionate, like before when we first dating. He said he would call, he didn't. I thought maybe this time he left the ball in my court, maybe to let him know I am really interested. I only thought this because I live with my ex and he said the night before he said he didn't like the fact that I live with him, and asked when he was moving out. I'm confused, do I play hard to get? Does he test to see if he can still get me, does he get off on it? He's eight years younger than I am. Do I move on? Am I just a game to him?

dont' move on. stay and wallow in self-degradation until you can't stand it anymore. and then stay some more until your inside is wretched in pain. after you follow these steps, then go back and ask for more

Unknownbiker:

bumfuk is right..all men can be seduced. there was a tv show about that several years ago. Men were set up by beautiful woman and taped to see if they would cheat. Then if they did they were in deep sheet, cuz their girlfriends were watching. guess what..every guy cheated..100% the show was pulled..the only way we cannot or will not cheat is to get the hell out of dodge when that beautiful seductress starts her moves..

It has also been proven that this type tv show is pure hype -- sensationalism at its worst. The men knew what they are supposed to do and how to behave-- they KNEW that they could have these women! And their gf/wives knew it was to happen. Same was true with those reality shows, like the one with the beautiful woman who had to make a selection out of 20 good looking guys -- it's scripted! Predetermined. Same is/was true with the Survivor show-- the people participating were expected to "mingle." It's called: Ratings!

I don't know that all men can be seduced -- I don't know all men. I do know that there are many faithful men out there who love the woman they are with and even though they might flirt and fantasize-- they just wouldn't jeopardize what they have. Nor would the woman take that chance -- nor would she want to.

IMO, if you have a great love in your life, stop there. Nuture it and cherish it, or else, swim around this pond for eternity daydreaming and wishing, because you screwed up.

As far as always falling for the ones we can't have -- if they are truly not available or you aren't, then why go there? However, if it is really a case of not being sure if you'd have a chance with this person, other than availability -- then you certainly aren't going to find out just daydreaming about him. It may not happen, but at least you would know.

I don't believe evryone, male or female cheats! I've never cheated on a boyfriend, and I know some of my ex's never did!

With wanted what we can't have, I think it's purely the reason that it's safe this way...no pressure, and not having to worry about disappointment or pain. Maybe a sign that still need more healing time or something.

@bucs & moraima.....then I guess you have never been attracted to someone who wasn't attracted to you first or someone who lost interest in you. You are lucky. Unrequited love is a pretty common theme in literature so it's something a lot of people are familiar with.

as for this theme about "any man can be seduced"...I completely disagree. There are loyal. trustworthy men out there. I have met a couple.

You know, I'd really love to be seduced... just once. I'd like to have some gorgeous female (see profile pic) do everything in her power to throw herself at me. That would really be cool.

What do you think the odds are of having that happen?

squirrly Attracted to yes, falling for no. I just realize I'm different, which is fine. I don't long for things I can't or probably won't have, but that's just me. Whether its a thing or a man, I just don't do it. And I have many female friends who have very attractive, funny, amazing husbands and boyfriends. It's just not a temptation for me.

I'm gonna have to disagree with most people here. I DON'T fall in love with a woman who would never be attracted to me. While I sometimes idly wish to date a supermodel, "falling in love" would be a gross overstatement. In reality, I'm more attracted to the girl-next-door types. From my experience, they're more pleasant to be around, and tend to have nicer personalities too. Doesn't always hold true, but as any statistician would say, you don't have to be 100% right, only close.

It is human nature to want what you can't have. It is the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat, I guess. Been there many times. . . and certainly want to break the habit!

marvelicious you are so right and said it perfectly. it's not much different than conquering everest or learning to swim or just the competition of being with the prettiest. ive been like that my whole life and been envious of those that were happy with less than model material. not me..always chasing the hotties..a 4 looking at 8's. i catch 'em but i always need to run so damned fast to keep em. ive met this lady just 3 mos ago and she is in my league..well..a littl better.. and we are not doing the nasty yet..but she is the most special and caring person that i can remember and so into me..what a delightful change. im just experiencing an inner beauty for the first time..never had my eyes open before..now this girl?? would i cheat?? how can you disrespect one that you love so much..and i dint say i loved her..grammatical error..yeah girl..lets break the habit..and finally find mellow happiness at an easy cruising 45 mph..
